Lets give those corporations more tax give aways since 2/3 of them already pay no Federal taxes whatsoever. Lets give them more money to ship US jobs overseas. Let's give them more money so that they can break new profits records while charging us record gas prices and destroying our environment just so they could save a few bucks on safety equipment.
If corporations were drug dealers and jobs were drugs, it would be about time that this country went into a good drug rehab program. The Right wingers seem to be pretty well addicted and trying to hook the rest of us on their habit. No thanks, I'll pass.

You should have pointed out to him that the president doesn't have the authority to selectively suspend certain parts of the tax code. Only the legislative body can do that. If the Congress wants to repeal the tax cuts and put through a new tax cut for those making $250K or less, I'm positive Obama would sign it. Somehow I think the Republicans would be in opposition to that one for some reason....Oh yeah, its because Republican Congressmen are total asshats.

If anyone ever doubted that Moe feeds Toe his lines one only needs to read the first command in Moe's post here. Moe is telling Toe what he should have said...was this supposed to be a PM perhaps?

WOW! The libs dropped this thread like a hot potato, didn't they?

An approval rating in the low 40's will do that.

Funny part is that I heard that the Obama Administration was willing to consider letting the tax breaks expire for everyone making over $250K according to Geitner. Now the Republicans that look out for that top 2 or 3% will never go for that will they? The party that looks out for those that least needs to be looked out for strikes again.

You guys make the indefensible assumption that if Obama has low approval ratings, it amounts to higher approval ratings for Republicans. The Republicans approval ratings have yet to show any improvement, well unless you listen to Rasmussen which is a polling joke. They only correct their polling numbers the week before the election so that they seem to have been right all along which fools the fools only.

No, you're wrong...BO's approval rating in the low 40s is simply an indication that the people are unhappy with the direction he is taking the country- don't try to misdirect the debate.

When did I ever say that Obama's ratings have any effect on Republican ratings? My point was that any administration (democrat or republican) becomes much more aware of public opinion of their policies once their approval rating has become unfavorable.

Wouldn't you have more respect for a President who is true to his beliefs and policies despite the short term effect it may have on his approval rating in the polls? Again, this is not a slam on Obama, every President does it.

Maybe YOU haven't made the assumption yourself but Right wingers assume that Obama's lower rating translate into support for their side which it hasn't. Most, and I repeat most, of the support Obama has lost is from the Left and the center that want what they want when they want it regardless of a realistic timetable for realizing their political demands. There is little patience especially in this Bush economy on the Left for the situations that need to be addressed and the caving in to the Right over and over. Its not that these groups are at all interested in the Right's agenda and the only chance the Right's agenda has in the future is if they can get the center and the Left to stay home in sufficient numbers to let the minority of Right wing lock-step voters carry the day. I think November is going to be very interesting.

Say, you Right wingers, have come up with a viable presidential candidate for 2012 yet? I'm looking at the field on the Right and I'd be a little discouraged if I were you. With the RNC falling apart at the seams and the tea party effectively taking over the most extreme elements of the GOP, can you guys even mount a realistic campaign challenge in 2012 or is it just a matter of you believing your own rhetoric? Now that your party has effectively alienated Latinos (the fastest growing segment of the population), blacks, women, you only have to piss off the Asians, and the Native Americans before you can essentially rename the Republican Party to The Really Old White People’s Party. Keep up the good work!

I think you are clouding the issue and jumping ahead a little. The President's lower approval rating means only one thing to the Republicans. It means that democrats will not be able to ride the President's coat tails to victory in the upcoming November elections. Each democratic candidate will be forced to run on their own distancing themselves from the President. Unless the President's numbers rebound quickly, you are going to see them continue to fall as members of his own party up for re-election drop him.

I have no idea who will be the GOP candidate in 2012, but it seems clear that Palin is positioning herself to make a run at it. I really hope someone else emerges within the next year.

The latinos can multiply like rabbits for all anyone cares, but until they actually show up to vote, nobody (including the democrats) will care about them. Regarding the health of the political parties, I think this forum is a microchasm of reality. Each party's sole purpose seems to be to oppose absolutely everything the other party proposes without any thought or consideration of merit of the the actual idea. It's like a perpetual political stalemate.

Sarah Palin. The best the right has to offer. I rest my case.

When did I say she was the best the right has to offer. I simply said she is going to run. Given the tabloid mentality of our electorate, I think she will have a good showing.

    You mean the sheep mentality?

NO TOM! Now this is important. So put the sheep down, cover up, and listen.

I mean most people want their political leaders to be entertainers. It isn't good enough to be knowledgeable, a politician is a salesman. They are selling themselves. Whether you like it or not, she does that very, very well. Her problem is that she is mostly entertainer and very little knowledge. I hope the electorate can see through it.

I was thinking about these points over the last couple of days and why it is we vote the way we do. No matter the outcome of the election, we either get corrupt special interests queens in the Republican Party that sell our government to the highest bidder (There is a reason that there are 30,00 lobbyists in Washington) or, we get ineffective Democrats that seem unable to move legislative priorities through the process even with huge majorities. The only people winning this political war are the people that own the lobbyists. Where is my lobbyist?

  17. Lehigh96

    Lehigh96 Clown Hater

The lobbyists will always win. The reason is because it makes no difference which side wins. They buy them both off. It always seems that democrats don't understand that their politicians take as much money from special interest groups as do the republicans.

I say eliminate campaign contributions all together and use tax payer money to fund the election campaigns. Each candidate gets the same amount of money. After all, if they can't budget their campaign funds properly, do you really want to put them in charge of the national budget.

Sadly, she IS the best they've got to offer....a 1/2 governor of frozen tundra in Bumfu** Idaho (no offense Idaho) who can see Russia from her house, who is a Fox noise spokesperson espousing right wing pro life family values (while her promiscuous daughter is busy having her oven stuffed by someone with intelligence akin to John Wayne Bobbit), who she's now going to marry (after Mama dunce trashed him ad nauseum) whom Mama Bear knew absolutely nothing about. Oh and...she enjoys killing animals form a helicopter for fun and doesn't know what press she reads. Yeah....a real credit to the right wing lunatic fringe machine.

Anything would have to be better than than the free-spending, lying, underwhelming political novice we have ruining,,,,err, I mean running,,,the country now. I'll bet creating BO is causing Ted Kennedy to turn over in his grave!
