Are you saying BO may have possibly 'gasp' deceived the voters with his promise to end pork, cut out the lobbyists & special interests and promote transparency??
Oh, good heavens no David, you know very well that all politicians are scrupulously honest. They'd never stoop to pandering for votes! Don't believe it!
But BO was presented as "a new kind of politician"....well above politics-as-usual, at least that was the selling point, right? It sure wasn't experience or any of his past accomplishments, was it? This was an issue he was pretty clear on.
I doubt there are many politicians around who haven't used a line like that to pander to voters. They'll say anything to get votes. You know what I think is even worse? Mark Kirk lying about his military record. I think it's an insult to everyone who's honestly served to have a guy like that, who may even be elected to the Senate, pretending he's a military hero of some sort.
But you gotta be honest- for BO's campaign & for his devotees, it was much, much more than simply "a line" or "pandering"...it was the cornerstone- the foundation- of his message. When no one could give an honest answer when asked about his experience or accomplishments the debate always shifted to the new politics he would bring to DC...for many people that was enough. Now we know it was all a facade. As for people misrepresenting their military records? That should be enough to bar them from ever holding a public office!
Yes, I am quite shocked that he didn't stand up and say: "Vote for me. I am going to be as big of a piece of crap as the last guy. I am going to pander to special interests and trounce on your personal freedoms in just the same way. Vote for me. 4 more years of the same old, same old." lol It's like New and Improved Tide with Bleach. Do you really believe it is all that New and Improved over the last Tide with Bleach?
