Begs of other questions not answered in this forum. Since the resident libs can't answer what percentage of taxes is enought (50%,60%,70%,80%,90%)? Maybe they can answer how many different taxes is enought?
Income,state,sales....etc.,etc. Now the VAT. So how many 5,8,12,infinite?

The libs seem to wanting "reform" in every arena these days so why not at least discuss the FairTax? Just imagine the bureaucracy it would eliminate & the income it would generate. Imagine bringing home 100% of what you earn!

It is quite simple really. Our taxes need to be as high as needed to pay for what the majority of people (through their votes) decide they want from our government. Right now they are obviously too low to pay for what the majority of people want from our government since our deficits are mammoth.

Funny, when the truth is presented to the Left wingers and they have absolutely no way to support the labels and lies they spew, the sound of crickets is heard...Chirp Chirp! When actual facts are presented using multi-year follow-up studies, they are scrambling for one-sentence talking points. Come on Lefties! Tell us what percentage of your hard earned dollars should go to Washington…how many more taxes should we add to the growing list? No blogs, no PMSNBC News, just peer reviewed actual data on your position. Send in the crickets!

OK so how much tax do you think you should pay?

How much tax is acceptable? Well zero pops into mind but we know, of course, that can't happen.
I hate paying taxes as much as the next guy.
When I was an independant contractor I looked at every check this way. 2/3 of it is mine roughly. Add on job insurance (forget health), vehicle maintenance, fuel costs etc. and I basically worked the first six months of the year for free.
    I'm no stranger to taxes.

One really can't argue with this logic. I might add that our deficits have been mammoth for quite some time. I'll provide a link later.

Can't help but quote that one. Seems it ain't just the "libs" not responding to the question. I see a few talking about crickets chirping when they are part of the cricket population.

Now here's a link with some interesting graphs. For the record the author is most definitely anti Reagan IMHO but still anyone can see the trends. This has been going on for a long, long time.
    Give it a look.

I have to say that we in the UK have basicly gone the same way since the Thatcher years, now we are facing some of the worst Goverment cuts in public expenditure for decades VAT will rise to 20% next January we expect the tax rate on income to also rise ! and unemployment will get worse as they try to balance the books. The big problem is of course that the Goverment is somehow expecting the private sector to take up the slack on the jobs front but it simply will not happen as they are allready struggling with there own debts.
Strangly the only people realy making money are the Banks that we the public financed LOL

How much tax is acceptable? Fairtax research indicates the rate at which we should be taxed on consumption (not income) is between 18-23% once all federal, payroll, etc taxes are eliminated. If everyone pays the same percentage I could live with that.

As far as clembo's link goes, I urge you to read the sites "about us" page before viewing any of their "findings" then you can decide on the credibilty of the research. The organization is actually a campaign to advance the liberal agenda & apparently they have already decided conservatives have ruined the economy . They appear to have manufactured & manipulated data to support their agenda.

My Dad always said if !0% is good enough for the Lord then 10% should be good enough for the government.

Just using a resident “libs” analogy in another thread about crickets to show his hypocrisy. You have to read both to appreciate it.

Anti- Reagan, you think? A faaaaaaaarrrrrr left web site I would say. You can’t even read the stupid graph. I do know that Reagans deficit compared to the GDP was minicule to what it is now.

Don’t forget who has controlled Congress (the spending appropriators) for all these years.

PS. I just heard where Robert Byrd has just assumed room temperature. I wonder if Barney Frank and Chris Dodd will sit next to David Duke at his funeral.

Were exactly did the Lord God ask for 10% of anything? as far as I was aware all God requires is your prayers ?

Speaking of taxes here is Vice President Bite Me's view about people wanting lower taxes:

Vice President Bite Me was in Milwaukee to talk about jobs Saturday, made a stop at Kopp's Frozen Custard outside the city.

VICE-PRESIDENT BITE ME: What do we owe you?

MAN: Don't worry, it's on us. Lower our taxes and we'll call it even.

VICE-PRESIDENT BITE ME: Why don't you say something nice without being a smart ass all the time?

From the same Joe Biden who once claimed the measure of your patriotism is determined by how much tax you pay.

The FairTax is the only viable solution to our tax problem. Everyone will pay their fair share of taxes, loopholes will be eliminated, the cost & bureacracy of the IRS will be eliminated, tax cheats & those who profit from illegal activities will have no choice but to participate, visitors from outside the country will help fund our cofers and we will maintain control over our hard-earned paychecks. No other proposal has been researched as much as the FairTax & the majority of experts agree it is a viable solution for our country.

David, I agree with you for a tax on only the purchases of goods & services. My good friend who works at IRS tells me though someone would still have to insure that the taxes being collected by the business entities are being collected. Just a thought.
