Jamat-e-Islami is a biggest Muslim party. It has started a national campaign against corruption and criminalisation in politics. It claim that it has hundreds of lakhs of sympathisers in India. Is it proper for religious parties to interfere in politics? How will it if politics attach with religion? What impact will it on the society in such case. Is it true that religion can protect the society from all evils?

Hey Ricky! Welcome to the smash and bash session. Two rules of thumb here besides all the forum rules: 1) Don't pay attention to the idiots and, 2) Don't become one of the idiots. Other than that, nice to have another inquisitive thinker.

I think the answer to your question will be found by looking at all the countries that have theocracies as opposed to those that have secular governments. Anytime you have a mix of God and Government, any corrupt governing body can justify anything that they do in the name of God or Gods, lets not forget monotheism. The other extreme of course is governments that ban religion. I think spirituality has a place in most societies but it just doesn't belong in politics. Why not mix the military and diplomacy? Because the result would probably be endless war. There are just institutions whose missions are different and sometimes counter to each other that need to be separate from one another for pretty sensible reasons. Religion and politics is the most obvious example.

Allow me to interpret the Dr moen-speak.....
An "idiot" is anyone who does not agree with the good professor, anyone who questions his rambling diatribes, anyone who is not in awe of his "superior intellect", anyone who does not bow down & beg for more of his insightful blather. "Becoming an idiot" means you better not hold an opinion contrary to his or question his delsuional ideology.

Kinda like BO's speech the other night when he claimed to be open to suggestions from all sides (as long as they matched his agenda, of course).

In some cases the involvement of religious parties into politics is good but generally religious parties should not interfere politics.
