Funny thing about relief wells. I heard on the radio today that in other countries, when wells are dug, the relief well has to be dug at the same time in case something happens. But apparently we don't require that. My first thought would be we need to require that yoo. But, since the regulations in place seem to have been either waived or pencil whipped leading to this disaster, who knows if more regulations would have done any good.

Yes, there is oil at more managable depths. There certainly is oil in ANWAR, a bunch of it.By my logic those shrimpers and oystermen woild be back to work a whole lot sooner. Pelicans really, give me a break.

So we should just say the heck with it, and drill all over ANWAR, huh? Maybe if oil is in the Smokey Mountains blast them down to get the oil too. How bout putting a derrick right in front of your house if oil was found there as well. You get no benefit from it just the smell. That ok? But how close to the shore would you like? I know little about pipeline construction or oil rigs and such. Perhaps you know all about it. But it would seem to me, that the closer they are the less fishing there would be in that area. Is it easier to shrimp further out to sea? I dont know, do you? Yea pelicans you are right. Who gives a darn if thay all drown. But here a question I hope you can answer Was that explosion caused by all those mandates and regulations? Or was it caused by ignoring them? Oh yea, and 11 people? Gimme a break.

If we can't trust the industry then who is ultimately responsible to assure the mandates & regulations are adhered to? Be honest.

Is that how you answer a question? With another question? And what you wrote doesnt adress the question. I could go...typical right wing conservative extremist response.... but I wont cause it would be childish. When you answer the question, then I'll oblige you.

Post 24 in this thread. That is you isnt it? Youre right, I didnt ask you a question. But you felt the need to respond to one I asked someone else. In another thread(stopbeck, post 42 ) you defend yourself asking 'cant you respond to a thread?'. And now you say you werent specifically asked a question. Thats so, um, so like you. Ok post 24 in this thread. Thats you responding right? Responding to a question, right? Yer such a rascal!!

That was me asking you a question, why is that so hard to grasp? Can you answer?

Why put my question in your post in order to ask a question? When someone puts in a quote with their response, its usually in response to the quote. Enjoying yourself? And why are you asking me a question? Cant anyone respond to it? This is an open forum, yes?

Okay, here's your answer....the explosion was not caused by mandates & regulations, in fact some believe the mandates & regulations are designed to keep explosions like this from happening. Now, my question to you is this....who is responsible for administering those mandates & regulations? Who is reponsible to make sure they are adhered to?

Is this just my observation or has anyone else noticed that those who, shall we say lean to the right to one degree or another, tend to respond in one or two sentence bursts while those on the other side tend to explain and elaborate their responses? It's an interesting correlation and I'm sure those on the Right can only see perfectly good reasons for this habit and those on the Left see it as an inability to articulate one's own opinion in greater detail. Whatever the perception, it seems that people on the Right hold their opinions much closer to the vest than those on the Left for some reason. I personally think that the less you say, the less you have to defend. If you're already starting out from an indefensible position, saying less is a type of advantage you might need. Shorter responses tend to be more on the snarky side as well, more emotionally driven, far less open to debate, and highly defensive in nature. O.K., back to the topic...

....or maybe people as delusional & self-important as yourself simply like to hear themselves ramble?
You know, brevity can be a virtue. What's the old saying? "It's best to remain silent and be thought a fool rather than open your mouth & remove all doubt"? Well, dr moen there is no doubt.
