The government may be the only employer left in this country soon. We no longer manufacture anything in this country, jobs have been shipped over seas by companies that want to employ laborers that don’t have worker protections and work for pennies, the recent jobs report demonstrated that 90% of the jobs created last month were created by hiring census workers, and there is little capital to invest in new businesses. It just occurs to me that for those of you, who want to rely on the private sector to solve all of this country’s problems, you might want to get your passports and visas up to date. The private sector is solving unemployment problems in India, Asia, Mexico, Central America, and any other number of places but not in this country. Perhaps this points out the fallacy of your reliance on the private sector once and for all. They don’t have this country’s interests, and by extension, yours and my interests to worry about, they only worry about their bottom lines. A strong government would have the power to regulate and tax corporations that send jobs overseas and then come back and sell in our markets but the anti-regulation crowd has so weakened the ability of our government, that the power to exert pressure on these giant multinationals is gone. They have successfully freighted you so badly by making you afraid of the power of government, that you abdicated the only voice you had to the same people that are now abandoning this country for more profitable markets. Congratulations! Now we all get to work for the government. Yippee! Wasn’t that what you were trying to avoid? P.S. And Yes! I do currently work for a state government. I'll probably be your boss.
And yet so many of you believed "the Obama" wouldn't lead a gov't takeover? Even our most left wing radical BO defender (dr moen) says it's so.
I work for the Federal Government. You will both be my beyaches. lol Viva La Seniority! It is not too bad working for the feds, though...once you get over the shock that your employer can be $13,063,233,689,753 in the red and still be an employer. Not too many employers get that luxury.
I'm not even sure that I'm a state employee anymore any way. The state didn't pay us last fiscal year that ends on June 30th and there is no indication that they are going to pay us for fiscal year 2011 either. We just might be a private university without knowing it. We only get a quarter of our budget from the state anyway so if they decided to pull out, we sure wouldn't have to bother complying with all their silly regulations and restrictions. I'm all for keeping the politicians out of education anyway. Heck, why should the dumbest, most corrupt, least trusted members of our society have anything to say about what education does or doesn't do? Screw 'em. I'm a rogue independent now Joe, you Feds better watch out for us former state guys....
Leave it up to a true Marxist to sing the praises of government jobs. The one reason private sector jobs are not being created is…..Barack Hussien Obama. Why would anyone want to hire new employees and go broke adhereing to the countless mandates and regulations and laws given to us by socialist politicians in Washington. Consider this……because of a federal regulation preventing offshore drilling in shallower water we have to drill in 1 mile deep water and 4more mile beyond that, and if this well had of been in more manageable depths…….the thing could have been capped WEEKS ago. Anwar looking better anyone? BTW……census workers have reported they are being fired one month and being rehired the next to show up on new unemployment figures. WAKE UP AMERICA…..vote these bums out this November and effectively neuter this president until we can sent him to the unemployment line in 2012.
Those who would celebrate gov't jobs are aslo the same people who would celebrate the gov't takeover of healthcare, private enterprise, etc. It's merely another case of the power-hungry liberal elite's desire to subject everyone to the will of the state. Cradle to the grave mentality at it's worst.
[QUOTE=jth;286798 BTW……census workers have reported they are being fired one month and being rehired the next to show up on new unemployment figures. Can this be verified? I mean not just the source. But has the source of this statement been verified?
I only asked a question. You dont need to get vulgar. And I asked if there is indeed oil closer to shore. Instead I got, ''Wouldnt this be better than that''. I dont know if there is oil 10 miles out. But I guess youre keeping the answer to yourself. And Anwar has potential not certianty. Because what is being reaped in the part of Anwar where they are drilling is far less than the windfall they expected. As far as an oil spill being closer to shore; I guess you are ok with 100 pelicans dying than 1000. And not to sound wimpy, but the explosion killed 11 people. Are you telling me only six wouldve died if thye drilled closer to shore? I suppose it was all those pesky safety regulations that killed those folks on the rig. Truthfully I dont give a crap about Louisiana's troubles. I guess shrimpers and fisherman will need to find new jobs. Tough break. By your logic, wouldnt those shrimpers and oystermen be out of work sooner if the oil leak was closer?
