So show me the "tradition" as I have already asked that prevents Obama or any other president from saying whatever they want during the State of the Union. If it actually is a "tradition", it has to be written down someplace. Oh, Oh, I know, maybe this is just an oral tradition and your great grandfather Chief hurlsbull passed it down to you? I'd be happy to admit Obama was out of line if you can show me this tradition written down someplace but alas, the tradition here is your spewing of Right wing talking points.

It's common knowledge that a liberal is going to attack anything that remotely resembles a tradition or anything traditional.

 

Ahhh! The old "It is known" defense in conjunction with the usual dodge. Just show me anything that documents what a president can and can't say during a State of the Union or just admit that you are spewing another Right wing talking point. Come on! Man up and stop dodging. I can look up definitions of words as easily as you can. The question was, was there ever really any kind of "tradition" in the firstplace? And you have yet to prove that there ever was. Look up Thomas Jefferson and some of his State of the Unions and then tell me about "tradition". You make me laugh.

While I don't share the President's feelings about the issue, I find it refreshing that he would incorporate that he disagreed with the court decision publicly in the State of the Union address. All too often, our political leaders will not publicly voice their opinions due to political repurcussions (re-election). I wish we would hear more actual opinions from our leaders instead of what is deemed politically correct.

 

Why in the world would you want corporations to be able to dump any amount of cash into an election they felt like? Haven't special interests corrupted our political system and especially the Republican Party enough for you yet? Please tell me your rationalization for this stance because I can't imagine any rationalization you could offer that would justify this position.

 

Perhaps you misunderstood. I was not agreeing with the court decision, I just don't care. Nothing short of a complete overhaul of campaign finance is going to fix anything. If I had my way, all political contributions would be banned, and the candidates would get a finite amount of tax dollars to finance their campaign.
