Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that corporations have the same rights as people, shouldn't they also be subject to the same criminals laws as people? Should we then charge the mine owner Don Blankenship with 29 counts of murder for the numerous safety violations his mine was cited for and the deaths that resulted from those violations? What do you think about this situation?
No argument from me. Compromising worker safety to increase profits is criminal as well as unethical.
That is the thing. The corporation is the person. And corporations can't go to jail for murder. That is why they exist. To insulate their owners, board members, etc from responsibility. And it typically works. Basically corporations are free to be psychopaths. And most are. Immortal psychopaths, at that. Immortal psychopaths aided and abetted by both parties of our government.
Just my opinion but those who reap the bigest reward should be held responsible for the bigest failures
Zero chance. Corporate criminals don't go to jail. They buy their way out one way or another. Compromising worker safety is is just "business"...a calculated corporate risk. A Wall street crap shoot. Only way to hold anyone accountable is to sue the hell out of anyone and everyone remotely associated with the operation. Hey...I know...maybe if we had a little less "regulations" on the poor innocent businesses, maybe we could all profit from things like this...right? After all...profit is all that really matters here.
Exactly. I couldn't have said it better. Legal crime, by the morally inept corporations...for profit. Thank God for lawyers. Oh...that's right. We have too many lawyers. We need more 'entrepenurs'. We need more criminals to be protected through "business".
Just remember, the corporations have lawyers too. And typically have the better lawyers because they have the money to buy them.
