Spinning again. I never proclaimed "all" democrats were good. I do proclaim however that any democrat is better than any republican, anyday.

Best question I've seen here in a long while. You get a gold star and happy face for asking it Lehigh.

Proclaim that all you want TomC but you're wrong (and this coming from a guy labeled as Liberal). A bad politician is a bad politician no matter what. There are plenty of bad politicians to spread around.

This is why I hate "voting for a party". By doing so one endorses a lot more crap than they might realize.

I keep telling you I ain't endorsing anybody, rather, eliminating the worst of the poisons I am required to swallow. I agree on the bad politician line of thought. However until there is some other way to vote in some future candidate/party that redefines themselves in some other fashion, I have to choose one from the two we're stuck with. I choose to vote against the party of the rich, since I am not rich, nor do I care to participate in the immoral corporate character needed to be on the road to becoming rich. I choose to vote against the party that is interested only in exploiting the world for personal gain. I will vote against the party that thinks cash and the unlimited rape of whomever and whatever resources are available to accomplish the goal of personal mega wealth, even if it means the destruction of everything and everyone in order to attain it. I will vote against the party that is clearly in support of the meag wealthy beyond any other measure. I will vote against the party that stands silent while the country falls into the abyss and says nohing while it happens for near a decade. I will vote against slave labor, outsourcing America's jobs, against mega mergers, against fat cat CEO's, against Wall street rapists, against extractionists simply for the sake of MORE. It's not like I have a deck of cards to look through and choose the best one. I have two realistic choices. One brags about corporate rape and represents the wealthy first. THAT PARTY CLEARLY, TO ME, IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. That is the party I am voting AGAINST. The other is less than that by some degree AND does occasionally include folks other than the mega wealthy in their plans. The choice is simple when there are only those two choices. My family's future stands a much better chance of living in a more decent, moral world if I vote AGAINST the party of no and the party of mega wealth, greed, and corruption.

I hate to say it Tom but every time you rail against anything Republiican just because it's Republican you are, in effect, endorsing somebody. Doesn't matter if you name a name or not.

You have a black or white (and I'm not talking races here) view of things. No room for grey and that accomplishes nothing at all IMHO.

I'm not a big fan of the Republican mindset myself at this point. However, if one comes up with a great, feasible idea that I beliieve will help us as a country I will listen and even back that person.
I've done it before and pointed it out too many times. I have voted Democrat, Republican and Independent in Presidential elections. I would vote Republican next election if I see something or someone that I feel is worth voting for.

Everyone here has a different personality and different views. I don't post that much anymore because frankly the crap just gets old.

I do read though and will state that the people I pay most attention to here these days are Moen, Lehigh, StuJoe and De Orc. I also like to see KLJ, Drusus or DanR when they pop in on occasion.

Seems Midas and Arizona Jack are gone. Shame, I miss Jack but we're still in touch. As for Midas good riddance.

Hate to tell you this but the two that I pay the least attention to are you and David. Why? - because one can only listen to a skipping record for so long before it gets tiresome. I guess in a warped way you two have a lot in common in my eyes.

    Just sayin'.

He scared the Chinese, and he saw them for the threat that they would become, he also knew when to cut his losses by pulling you out of a very unpopular war. Yep he expanded it as well but that gave him the room to manouver and it showed the other side he wasnt afraid to attack even in the face of overwelming public and political opinion against what he was doing.

We're all welcome to our opinions. So long as the right continues to represent what and who they clearly represent, whatever face they put out there in the form of a presidential candidate will not matter. Vote to your heart's content. When you vote republican, you help condemn us all to Hell.

PS. You hurt my feelings grouping me in with Davey. Pretty low blow. Gaining your approval was something I had always hoped for. Now you've ruined it. :/

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here. Could you please explain what you meant when you wrote the words in red, PLEASE!

BTW, sweet rant. I almost read the whole thing. Then I thought, what would W do? He wouldn't read that crap. He would go clean his gun and drink a beer. So I did!

I've really been waiting for this response and it doesn't really surprise me. Especially coming from a "foreigner".

Call Nixon what you want but one thing he did understand more than most was foreign policy. In an ever shrinking world he understood it way more than most and would to this day. Why else would Presidents after him seek his advice?

Rather the party that supports slave labor. That better?

    Slave Labor where?

I am not sure what De Orc being a foreigner has to do with it, but his response is what I expected. Nixon was always regarded as having a good foreign policy. His meeting alone with China was a major step in easing relations between the two countries. Although I don't think he scared the Chinese, I think he surprised them.

I think what Clembo meant was that if you mention Nixon to most Americans they automaticly think of Watergate and the tapes etc, well ok I do but I possibly dont see it in the same light LOL on forign policy the guy was stong, he projected a strong image to the world of the USA, his invasion into Cambodia realy did go against everything that the Chinese expected from a western politician as did his willingness to bomb the hell out of North Vietnam to get them to talk the way he wanted, he was willing to use there own tactics and that is what scared them.

Pick your favorite third world country! Slave labor right here in America too. in the form of salaried folks that work for free instead of getting paid overtime. Slave labor in that the poor slobs the corporations refuse to give raises to in lieu of CEO bonuses. Slave labor all over America and the world brother. Somebody makes enough in one day to buy gas. Woohoo! Slave labor in China my boy! Cheap Chinese labor...a shirt made at 3 cents labor, and selling it for 80 dollars! Where you say?????? EVERYWHERE BROTHER. In Factories all over
THE WORLD with managers like you cracking the whip.

Don't these people have the ability to go somewhere else if they don't feel like they are being treated fairly by their current employer? Doesn't that make it different than "slave labor"?

That pretty much sums up why I referred to De Orc as a "foreigner". Perception of Nixon here versus other parts of the world was and remains different to this day.
I always found it interesting that polls would pop up as to who our best and worst Presidents were and Richard Nixon could end up in the top five at BOTH ends of the spectrum.

I've always felt that foreign policy is very important but have also felt that Amercians in general have not realized this. We're so big and bordered by two large countries. If we could jump in our car and visit 3 or 4 countries in a day I reckon it would be looked at differently.

Nixon understood this I believe. He was also not afraid to make decisions and act which I suppose did surprise folks like the Chinese.

Best President? No, but he did have his strong points.

Yeah they can quit. But the financial noose around the working mans neck is so tight that it becomes more risky to quit. Better to bend over and take it rather than risk the unknown, that is, assuming one can find another job. The big boys got you by the gonads and they know it, and squeeze regularly.

Unfortunatly in many of the third world countries that these corporations work in there is no other employer for that number of employees David so for the most part quitting is not a option

I wonder how many here feel the same way about where they work?
Heck, moen was celebrating all the supposed jobs BO was creating, there should be plenty to go around, huh? My company has aggressively been trying to fill 4 positions (I know it flies in the face of your outsourcing & down sizing dreams) but we can't find suitable candidates, people who really want to work. The sad part is that benefits such as an incredible health plan, 401k and generous profit sharing don't seem to interest these people. Mention that some weekends are required as well as a little overtime & they run for the doors.
