Hey Meow ...show us how you can tax and spend yourself into prosperity and reduce the budget? People that want the government to support them are easy to sway because it is NOT THEIR MONEY they are spending.

This is truly what will bring about the death of America. No bill can do it, but the decay of our character of what built this country as Americans will.

Hey now that IS funny. A republican talking about character and decay. The morally bankrupt right suggesting the death of America after they've been conducting a "weekend at Bernie's" screening with the world since 2001.
One thing's for sure. Obama's hit a vital spot. The republicans are cryin' like I've not seen before. When you get hit you scream I guess. Now when he get's them to go quiet again (like they were for a decade), then we'll know he's killed the beast. Right now they're just injured. Keep firin" O!!

That's right. The elitists extracted it fair and square. Let's spend it on actual people instead of disappearing retirement accounts and collectible houses. I say we do a REVERSE TAX cut Bush style. How bout we give everybody under 100k incomes a check for one or two millions dollars? That way the wealth of the elitists can be destroyed through attrition without actually making the super wealthy surrender anything!? Then we could rebuild society anew and reconstruct it and leave out the the wealthiest of Americans this time around. Everyone could have a helluva time spending their cash for a little while, and screw the corporate masters at the same time! We do just like the mega wealthy did during the Bush years! Spend...take...destroy people's lives without giving a crap about any of it! With any luck, we can outsource their as*es!!

Only socialist liberals want to penalize/destroy those that work harder, study longer and make smart decisions...and TAKE their earnings and give it to their base (in exchange for votes)

Only the corporatist Fox party wants to destroy the common good for the benefit of the common few.

Really, are you going to enjoy the triple digit increase in insurance rates, and mandating people who can't afford those increases that they have to BUY the insurance anyway? Explain how this is even a Libral agenda?

Of course they ae up. This bill reenforces everything that is causing healthcare costs to spin out of control and doesn't protect anyone from the public. Their is no price control. There is no government price control or market price control. It is a blank check for the whole healthcare industry except the patients and the healthcare provider, nurses, MD, and Pharmacists... etc.

Perhaps...but blank checks for war mongering, bailouts, or disappearing pallets of cash from Iraq or the Pentagon would be ok.
The well to do whining about their monthly champagne invoice once again. I wish you pocket stuffers would take your marbles and go home, then once you go, you can't come back. Somehow I think morality will manage just fine without you. WAA! WAA! WAA! The socialists are taking my money! The price of my imported cigars just went up again! WAA! WAA! WAA!

Stock market went up for Bush??? Wow! What a great leader! He really knew how to "take care" of the rich! Now this new president doesn't want to take care of us and our fat cats any more! WAA! WAA! WAA!
(as Mrs. Howell tries to comfort her poor spoiled husband..."Now..now dear..those bad people can't get you now! There there dear..Here's your Teddy") She continues. "There, there dear...I've just ordered a fresh truckload of hundred dollar bills for you to play with." "Call your stockbroker...buy some countries. Calm down dear. Those nasty socialists will realize the error of their ways soon dear, then you'll be back on top again"

You and Midas would make a good team. You both make false, erroneous, hyperbole laden statements and then ask others to defend/explain them. For example, not even that Right wing looniest fringe dwellers predict triple digit insurance increases but you had to go that extra step and throw it out there anyway. Bringing more people into the market reduces costs. It's called pooled risk. If you're really interested in reducing costs, start pushing for a public option and put some actual competition into the mix for a change.

Putting extra people into the system could increase overall costs. I am not saying it is bad that they now will have health care as I think the pre-existing conditions, etc clauses are morally wrong but some people coming back into the system were not in the system because they were very costly to treat, insure, etc.

One other thing I can tell you is that, as someone who had truly free health care for 20 years and worked in the same health care system, when health care is free - such as what will happen with Medicaid increasing by 15 million folks - it is abused or, if you want to use a more euphemistic term...the benefits are fully take advantage of.

Abuse is inevitable. Healthcare for more is the morally correct thing to do. I know money is always much more important than morality, but every once in a great while, something happens that doesn't just stuff more excess into the already rock hard overstuffed pockets of the elite of the corporations. So it get's abused. So what. The corporate conglomerate has been abusing the majority of the country and the world for some time now. Paybacks are a b*tch.

Somehow, with our political system consisting of 2 parties deep in the pockets of various corporations - oh yes, even healthcare, insurance and pharm corps - I have my doubts that the corporations and rich people will be the only ones paying.

And, truthfully, if it is something we, as a country, are going to do, they shouldn't be the only ones paying. I seriously doubt anyone here can't afford to pony up. Of course, the general thought typically seems to be 'let them pay, not us' but sacrifice is something the pampered 'middle class' - all 99% of them/us - should be told to do.

Well I'd ask then what would be the alternative? Just keep rolling along like we were? Do you really think we all weren't going to pay anyway with the path the corporations demand we be on? All of us were going to pay anyway. Corps have stripped most of the population of any hope for a future outside of their whimsical demands. May as well have some health care when we become ill from the stresses of their greed. You get a republican in the white house and watch what will happen. We'll all be working for Walmart and eating corporately financed reprocessed feces, and sending our current and future generations of kids to war in any one of the "uncooperative" countries the elite would find a way to bomb or invade.
We're all payin' anyway dude. Allowing the elitists to go unchecked and have government "butt out" of their business ain't gonna make it any better, rather, exponentially worse. The greed isn't going to stop on it's own, not when the corps (and more and more of the brain dead public) somehow think "trickling down" is the way to go and openly brag that MORE of everything is the goal. That will only guarantee and speed our demise as a society. You take a real look sometime at all the damage the former Bush administration inflicted on our society. Not to badger him here, but you seriously look. He deregulated anything and everything he came in contact with during his reign of elite horror. By the time O got there (actually well before), things we (are) so screwed up/ outsourced/corporately crushed, there wasn't and probably isn't still, a way back. But the numbnuts will blame it all on Obama and the socialist liberal (add your boogie man word here). Then in all likelihood...the braindead will put the right back into the white house, sealing our fate conclusively straight into the abyss.
Healthcare ain't the reason for the demise, but that's how it's being framed...right before the next terrorist event designed to scare us all to death and bow before them, praising their return. Like I said....we're all screwed anyway. May as well all have healthcare before the corps take that away too.

Let me ask you a question. How long do you think it would be before the runaway corporation employers would no longer offer health care? A year or two tops?? Given the mega profit driven..more, more, more, cost cutting elitists..I'm frankly surprised they haven't quit it en mass already. Keeping it must be a good way to fudge numbers all I can figure, cause, they sure ain't offerin' it out of the goodness of their collective merge/downsizing/outsourcing hearts! Hell they shave everything else, even have pay CUTS now. Forget raises! 3 PEOPLE FOR 5 PEOPLE'S JOB AND SHRINKING SALARY. That kind of thing.
I see Obama stepping in and addressing it as nothing but a positive.

We are certainly going to pay and that is the whole point and the politicians of both parties know it when they do this. And they get to have their cake and eat it too.

The corporations will just raise prices and lower wages and move on. If anything, their profits will increase while we pay more for everything. And the politicians get to say they didn't 'burden' Us. It is Them that is paying. And people believe it. All the while, their own personal bribe payers have even more profits to share with them. The only thing that changes is the pockets they have their hands in. In this case, it is Pharm and Insurance and Financial Corps.

Well if we WERE going to pay anyway, which I contend, and we ARE STILL going to pay anyway, then why all the noise from the right? What's the difference? I'll tell you. Because the right represents the rich, and the rich are angry because someone else is 'cuttin' in on their action., ' lowering their potential profit. That's all. Plain and simple. Of course the corporations will raise their prices. Think they weren't going to raise them anyway? You think by somehow being quiet and leaving them to their profit margins is going to instill less of a hit to everyone else? Yeah right. They're going to extract the maximum anyway! So it'll be more I guess. What else is new? Every pencil pushing, stuff shirt executive sitting behind a PC is going to play with numbers and find yet another way to extract MORE. It's not going to be any different if somehow, health care is just "left alone". Greed and excess occupy the big boys today, more so now...today..than ever. If health care was just "left alone", it would have dried up and disappeared for everyone except the wealthy. Another victim of the almighty mega profit. A "costly benefit" that some CEO would eventually chop for a fat bonus anyway. At least with this law, the working poor would still have half a chance of getting treated and not put into bankruptcy.

One thing you got right for sure. They'll just raise their prices, lower salaries and move on. They will do that regardless. Thinking that somehow it'll be even worse, or different simply because OF health care reform is beyond ludicrous and simply another right wing talking point. Now they just have a politically convenient excuse to do so.
