I guess noone has noticed grocery prices 2 or 3 times what they were even a year ago? Prices at least doubled if not tripled. Yet your paycheck remains the same. Oh and by the way...raising minimum wages is a bad idea. When's the last time anybody got a decent raise, or even a raise at all? Instead your requirements at work demand more and more, in either your time or your money. This isn't any accident. It's called complete corporate elitist takeover, setting up all the sucker middle class to jump for joy when they have made things so bad that people will jump at 50 cents and hour. All by design. The rich of course, will be unaffected by any of this. These are the CEO's with multi-million dollar stock options and bonuses and salaries. Look at the latest "no more handouts" theme that is now apparent in the new political groups. No more handouts. Except for the banks, of course, They can have as many handouts as they want, and never have to lend to anybody. Because the very rich are manipulating EVERYTHING right now. The right blatently supports whatever the rich do. The party of the rich. You folks that claim to simply be conservative instead of right wing, better re-evaluate your facts. The right supports the rich. You are the right if you are conservative. No in between. I know..I know..You're not rich. Ok. Several hundred thousand dollars a year isn't rich. Got it. But remember this. Who are you going to exploit when the people that think you ARE rich..turn against you and refuse to accept the abuse your party dishes out in cut, mergers, tripled grocery prices, soaring gas prices, people in financial ruin because they got sick. What do you think they'll see when you and yours are still doing just fine in that big house. I know. You're not rich. Nice game you got going on there. They'll remember that you and your party is in favor of healthcare for the few or the wealthy. Because that's what you are saying. Hope you can convince the unruly public that you're not rich. Somehow I don't think they'll buy it. Good luck with that though.
"Rich" "Middle Class" These are just meaningless political terms. Silly rhetoric meant to be slippery and misleading. A convenient word game. Code words for Us vs Them. The favorite game of the 2 major parties. Set some income numbers to the people you are talking about. Then maybe a post like this will have some meaning.
Well that actual numbers that constitute rich would be affected by what part of the country you live in. How's this. Let's say the median average family income for a particular area or state is $30,000. You make $300,000. 10 times the average FAMILY income. That constitutes rich IMO. So how bout 10 times the median income?? You would have 10 times more than the average FAMILY makes. That's rich. Yet there are those that make that and beyond, maintain that they are not rich. They're middle class. That's a friggin joke. Those are also usually the first ones to say passing healthcare is a bad idea. Personally..I think far less than 10 times should be used, but, I'll go with that for now.
To further clarify, if $30,000 were the median family income annually, then twice that 2-3 times that would be upper middle class, depending on the size of the family you are supporting, 5 times that would be borderline wealthy. 7 or 8 times that IS definately wealthy and approaching 10 times is just plain rich. Beyond 10 times is just plain Thurston Howellish, arrogant and selfish. The us and them part?? They ARE them. They are the corporate elite. They are what is wrong with society. They, more than likely, have exploited someone or some thing at near or above a criminal level. Obviously those beyond that go straight to Hell. They do not pass go. They, my friend, are the most dangerous to society. They...are the leeches of the earth that deserve a nice cold jail cell. That specific enough??
I can only comment on prices over this side of the pond and overall for the past 6 to 8 months they have actualy fallen we are now as the economy seems to be strenghtening seen a rise in retail prices but no massive hikes. One thing though that has risen dramaticly in the last year is the cost of fuel be it domestic (Gas/Electric) or for transport.
Garbage! Prices have not doubled or tripled over the past year...we budget weekly for groceries & have not had to alter our numbers at all. And by the way, I have rec'd 2 raises this year so I guess your assertions are wrong....AGAIN!!
Ok, Median Household Income here is: $44,000. So if I have your numbers about right: $88,000 to $132,000 is Upper Middle Class. $220,000 is Borderline Wealthy. $308,000 to $352,000 is Wealthy and approaching $440,000 is Rich. And above that is The Super Rich (Thurston Howell). For here, that means that <1% of households even get to Borderline Wealthy (<1% of the households have an income greater than $200K here...less than 17 families in real numbers). So essentially almost everyone here is Middle Class or below. Including my family which doesn't even get to your Upper Middle Class while living a very comfortable life. And I bet that is the case in a lot of small town America. Sounds good to me. Liberals can go after 'Them' all you want...just leave 'Us' alone. Your big cities are where the problem is...that is where all of Them are. The rest of Us don't have much class struggle going on.
Scuse me Bud but I don't know where or when you last visited a grocery store but I do it every week. I could list example after example of specific products, but, what would be the point arguing about the cost of living with an elitist? I meant the "average" person getting raises. The upper tier obviously ALWAYS does very well despite the reality of others "not in the club of the corporate elite". I know...you're not rich either, but one day you hope to be. Got it.
Ummm, Wednesday?. The grocery shopping is my responsibility in our family and all I'm saying is that we have a budget for everything in our house and we have not increased the grocery budget in the last year. Are some prices higher today than they were a year ago? Probably but if so they are offset by the items that went down in price. Just my real world experience talking again.
Man I don't know who you think you're kiddin'. You ain't lookin' it you don't see doubled prices and more. For instance, toilet paper, 3.99 for a double roll pack a year ago. Today..8 bucks, with 200 less sqaure feet per roll. Some prices go down?? Really? What a bottle of high fructose corn syrup went from 2 bucks to 1.92?? WHOOPEE. Great. Now our dumbed down obese society can drink more genetically altered corn, and it's 12 cents cheaper!! Hooray. My cart, that used to be 200 bucks. That same cart full is about 350.00 if I exclude "extras"...you know, things like mouthwash and secented toilet paper. 2 dollar toothpaste a year ago...5 bucks. I could list item after item but you'd spew some corporate line that shoos it all away. You know I guess people like you just stay inside your republican Fox bubble with all your excess and think all is well because you're doing ok. Well, I got news for your brother, most "regular" folks ain't. Sorry to spoil your Hannity moment. Your party, your president, took a 200 billions surplus and turned it into a two TRILLION deficit and now have the b*lls to hollar about Obama spending too much money. Bottom line is your party, and people like you, have all but destroyed this country. I guess you won't be happy until it's completely rotted. You people make me ill. Go watch Fox now and tell yourself what a great American you are.
Easy now,you need to save some of that bile you're slinging for your employer tomorrow or that neighbor who makes a little more money than you. Like I said earlier, I'm sure you can find anecdotal examples of some prices that have risen- I'm just not experiencing the same thing- so theres no need to get your panties in a wad...and I repeat: I do go to the grocery on a weekly basis.
You may go to the grocery store with your American Express Gold Extra card, but price is no object it you refuse to notice the obvious. You don't look so closely because you've got more cash than you need, so it's not an issue. I guess filet mignon, lobster tail and imported cheese wheels fill your cart so quickly that you don't even notice the price. Bully for you, and I like my panties bunched up just the way they are. Anecdotal examples...now you sound like George Sr. when he got out of his limo and said "Hey those scanner thingys are really neat!". Have your butler bring you another toddy there Davey.
Again, I have no idea why you get so angry & twisted up? Let me repeat, and I'll go slow so you can keep up: I do the grocery shopping for my family & I have not noticed grocery prices doubling or tripling- nothing political about it, I just seem to have a different experience than you do. I do not use credit cards, we budget for our household expenses so I do pay close attention to what goes in the basket & what the prices are. I do not have a butler, gardener, housekeeper, etc. Can't say that I have ever purchased filet mignon or imported cheese wheels. There, does that cover it? Wait! I may have your issue figured out. A while back you posted something about Wal-Mart having a 1200% or $1200 mark-up, something like that. Do you remember? You had to admit you couldn't back up your statement? Maybe you are just confused again & you're thinking about your shopping escapades at this imaginery Wal-Mart? Could that be it?
I know too buddy boy. I write the checks and do the shopping. It you truly haven't noticed, then you're out of touch (see GW Sr. circa 1990). Either that or you're less than honest.
Since you are such a "victim" in every other part of your life maybe your grocery store is just raising the prices you pay, huh? Hey, this could be a conspiracy! Better check it out...call Tommy Chong & Wllie Nelson to get their take on the subject...maybe Michael Moore will make a documentary, huh? Call BO & ask him to set price controls.
Victim...socialism...takeover..right wing buzz words. Sing the the Fox/corporate/rich song for em Davey. Ridicule...blah, blah, blah...got anything else Rush? Conspiracy...blah, blah , blah...Tommy Chong...broken friggin' record you are. Just because you don't have the sense to see conspiracies (like 911) and obvious lies (like 911), doesn't mean, thankfully, not all are blinded by the stench that is corporate America that you march in lockstep to. Price fixing? Not a bad idea, but I'd settle for a big chunk of you elitists going to jail for life. I'd work for free to support that too.
Hey, you're the one who cited Tommy Chong as the example of famous people who believe as you do, not me....and I find it quite ironic that you would take me to task for "conspiracy...blah, blah, blah", isn't that what defines you?
Yes Mr. Spinster. He was on a LONG list of "celebrity" folks who see what you aren't capable of seeing. The blah, blah, blah I was referring to was the party on the right's standard exhaustive catch phrases that you all have been using since Ronald Reagan used the same tired references you all use like "government takeover" , socialism..blah, blah, blah, to describe medicare. Had the country bought your propaganda, medicare wouldn't exist and we'd probably have all died from "capitalism" by now.
If not Tommy Chong, which of those celebrity experts do you put more stock in? Paris Hilton? Ryan Seacrest?
Big Bird I think floats to the top (or any standard republican character would suffice). Same difference.
