Actually lots of folks are forced to participate in "programs" that they don't agree with. About the only difference is one's run by the government and the other one is run my mafia like greedsters called corporations. Oh that's right...if we don't like the game we can just quit. Starve and die or participate in the forced crimes of corporate America at less than decent wages, further enriching the mega wealthy.. Big choice that is, but that's the only choice most of us are given. That or become management and torture subordinates for a bigger cut of the exploitation pie.
You say we should be thankful that employers can offer us jobs (I say they should be grateful they have sucke...I mean employees to make them richer). I said we are forced to work. That what you're questioning? See what happens when you pick and choose what you want to respond to with partial quotes? We are forced to accept corporate terms or starve. I guess you call that a good thing?
I wonder how many 'We' there are here who are actually working for corporations. I don't. Moen doesn't. It sounds like David might not either.
You incessant whining is incredible. I am really tempted to buy stock in Kleenex for all the damn crying you do! The fact is that you are not forced to work for anyone. All you have to do to liberate yourself is go open your own business and be your own boss. The problem is that doing so requires more courage, dedication, and hard work than you are willing to muster. It is your own lack of ambition and laziness that keeps you a "slave" to the corporate fat cats. Want someone to blame for your lot in life! Look in the mirror buddy.
Yes..yes...I know...the old "I got mine, now go get yours" mental illness. My personal situation is just fine but thank you for your concern Sparky. My "rants" pertain to the bigger picture, the society our children are left to deal with. I do worry about their generations because it is more than blatantly obvious to me that they are headed for disaster if our demented society of greed ever gets that far. I can clearly see the retarded world around me. People are incredibly easy to figure out given any time at all to do so. Most are motivated by greed (these are usually the folks with the highest incomes). Sorry...but the truth is the truth. Most people (especially those in middle or upper management) lie, everyday, to anyone. most especially their subordinates. Corporate greed dictates that they must. They of course justify it claiming they're just doing what they're told, so to speak. Most people, have very poor morals. (that incidentally includes myself..Id like to think I am correcting that slowly day by day, or at least that's what I am consciously striving to accomplish). Most people, are either too stupid, too arrogant, or too afraid, to fully realize what occurred on September 11, 2001. Most people are comfortable knowing things like 911, Gulf of Tonkin, occur..They just don't want to know about it. I am not comfortable with those kinds of things. Most people, think money is the be all and end all of everything, and will do practically anything for it. (That all by itself makes society a pretty sad place). Most people are pretty cut throat. That's the way corporate America dictates that they need be in order to be successful. (and most have gotten very good at it too). The better you are at sticking it to someone else, the more successful you can become. (that is until you become the stickee instead of the sticker). That day is drawing closer for us all. Look in the mirror? Every day Buddy...every day. Maybe you should? Quit staring at the ice cubes swirling in your drink and take a stand for morality's sake sometime. Who knows...you could help benefit a future generation. (God knows this one is hopeless and there ain't a helluva lotta reasons to try and revive it with corporations in control of the world). Our environment is a nasty, corporate, slimy place where greed, arrogance, and exploitation reign supreme in the name of "capitalism". Call it what you will Sparky. Negative attitude. Pessimistic. Whatever. I call it reality.
The worst corruption I see is in your mind. Perhaps you should seek professional help. The sky is not falling, Armageddon is not upon us, and the United States despite your constant criticisms is still the greatest country in the world. Do you even realize that in most countries you would already be dead for speaking the way you do about the government. You treat the freedoms that you exercise with such disdain that you come off to a regular person as a complete nutcase. We don't think you are a martyr, just a self centered close minded hateful little man. Everything is an excuse, there is always someone to blame, nothing is your fault. The downfall of our society is you. People who simply refuse to take responsibility for their lives. That is reality!
The sky may not be falling in your neck of the woods Sparky..but for many it is and has already fallen. I know...it's all their own fault, but try to imagine that not everyone has your brilliant insight nor find the answers to it all in an adult beverage. America is absolutely the greatest country in the world. The elite corporatists are all f***d, and most of the lemmings in it are oblivious to reality, but, I agree, America, in it's past history, has been a great country. It is however, almost lock, stock, and barrel, owned by corruption via corporations and the Wall street sadists. Speaking my opinions? That is my right as an American, of which I choose to exercise on occasion. Happy to be a nutcase too there Sparky. That means I'm not like you or Davey, or Midas, or any of you other "sane" folks!! Thanks! I appreciate the compliment! The self centering part I'll defer to you on. Martyr? I think you've been reading too many Fox news terrorist disinformation headlines. The fault? All of ours (except for you I mean). I humbly disagree on society's downfall being all me. I just ain't that important. But thanks anyway. I can handle my responsibilities just fine too Sparky, and I don't need booze, or poker chips to do it.
Your getting a little closer to lucidity tomc...keep repeating "think I can, I think I can"...... Let's change your statement above to "I achieved and so can you", that seems to be more along the lines of what the right advocates. And change your "victim" label to that of "equal participant". Baby steps. So, tom, what do you think about what moen, Stu & I has to say about our employers & our efforts over the years? Kinda different than your perception of reality, isn't it? I'm guessing we are all basically the same..white males in our 30's-40's right? Why are our experiences & reality so different than yours? By now you have to be asking yourself where you went wrong, how you could of screwed up so bad?
You really are obtuse. The fact that you handle your responsibilities is different from taking responsibility for your life. If you took responsibility, you wouldn't be constantly blaming republican corporate capitalists for you lot in life. As for drinking and gambling, I guess that is you lame attempt to disparage my character. Furthermore, you need to crack open a history book. The people that made this country great for all those years were........wait for it.....wait for it......CAPITALISTS. You think it is bad now Tom. I would love to see someone like you live prior to the Anti-trust era when workers were actually exploited. But you refer to those days with some kind of nostalgic pride of innocence and morality. The corruption at the start of the industrial revolution was rampant and the country paid for dearly for it during the depression. Maybe if you weren't such a teetotaler your perception of society wouldn't be so messed up. Go have a drink dude and lighten up!
Does that mean I go into the hole for a month..being so obtuse Warden? (you seem to relate better to old movie cliche's, so there ya go) It most certainly IS the fault, yes, of the rich corporate corruption and its many tentacles that have us in our present situation today. Things like China practically owning us now. (literally). Thnigs like a mathematically impossible deficit to ever realistically stand a chance of crawling out from under. Things like deregulation (you know the ones that imposed regulations on the big boys of banking by Roosevelt after the great depression.) Beginning in the eighties, with rappin' Ronnie beginning the road to destruction, removing said regulations (for the benefit of the mega wealthy), hence the first S & L crisis (the "mock run" of bigger things to come). Then George Evil 1..and his American dream of "a new world order" (quoted from the man's own lips there Sparky). Then we go into 8 years of a democratic whitehouse, and then, doh!..who'da thunk it? My God...a surplus! The George Evil 2 begins his brilliant presidency in early 2001, then about halfway through his breath taking and exalted leadership..3000 Americans are killed, then blamed on some cave dwellers with box cutters (the American people buy it hook, line and sinker of course). So then we invade a country that hadn't attacked us.(first time in history for that), based on made up...err...."bad information". We get the UK telling us via the Downing street memo, that the invasion of Iraq is a foregone conclusion and that information/intelligence was being "fashioned" around that cash generating cow via the war mongering REPUBLICAN based loons. Shortly thereafter, our surplus becomes a deficit (with most of the actual cost kept "off the books"...in true corporate accounting proud tradition). Then, Georgey decides it bonus time for all of the wealthiest folks and he further deepens our deficit with champagne money for the elite. Meanwhile, quietly behind the scenes, he's busy further deregulating everything and anything he and his corrupt inkpen can find. Finally...just before he leaves office, we almost return to the days of depression, temporarily halted by doing what the corporate controlled financial system dictates...we throw a bunch more money (that we don't have) and it and call it a day. Now...with a democrat in the whitehouse to blame everything for the past couple of decades on, the party of no, is doing everything they can think of to obstruct, derail, or otherwise halt ANYTHING this president tries to do. Spinning and spinning until the sheep believe what they hear repeated by people like Sean, Rush and the rest of the "well to do" liars of that party's base. It'll work too...because people aren't interested in the future, even if it's next week...they're only interested in NOW, and "how much". All very well trained lemmings borught to you by the mega wealthy and their visions of "we can have it all...just take it" mentality. That my firend...is history as I see it. The rich taking and taking and stealing and taking. It isn't likely to change any time soon..until we're all forced to when it all catastrophically collapes when China calls in it's markers. Of course, then we simply default on the debt, a big old war starts once again, and the whole process repeats itself, with the "saviors...AKA...Bankers" riding to the rescue, offering to finance everything if we'll just "sign here". Ahhhh..capitalism!! Can't you just smell it??
2 things....you breezed over the 8 years Clinton spend decimating our military (and setting up an attack like 9/11) pretty quickly and you made mention of the financial problems that beset us at the end of Bush's 2nd term. Let's see...what else happened at the end of Bush's 2nd term? Oh, I know!!! The libs took over Congress. Coincidence? NOPE! So just to recap...the 9/11 incident that initiated our military campaigns was a result of the dems weakening our military might and the beginnings of our economic fall began with dems in control of Congress. Hmmmm, very interesting points you made there.
No Sparky...the 911 incidences were a result of prior planning, facist and dictatorship style,...part of the "new world order" George Devil 1 talked about.
I agree, the terrorists attempted to bring about their new world order but our quick, decisive action made sure that they were never able to attack our country in such a manner agin.
Ahh yes..quick decisive action. Now remember folks...should some other country, say Iran.. plot, bomb, and attack us, make sure we bomb and invade Canada. After all...doesn't really matter who was actually responsible...it's only important the world see that we will bomb somebody. Mexico...Australia beware. OSAMA is sending smoke signals from his cave that he is about to attack. WOW...GOOD THING NOTHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED DURING A DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENCY.
The only part of this post that made any sense was the Shawshank reference. Good to know you found a few hours to watch a movie while wasting the rest of your life investigating your crazy conspiracies. I think there are some chapters missing from you history book professor Tomclown. Perhaps you can give us a refresher course on the industrial revolution and feel free to skip over all of the corruption and moral turpitude.
Um David would you care to prove the Decimating the Millitery comment? I have posted figures on this one before that you sidesteped
Translated to mean you either can't give us a refresher or won't because it would force you to admit you are wrong.
