I've yet to hear a single substanative argument against Palin's achievements! So you don't like her, I get that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you can't have your own set of facts.
And just a little tip....if you wish to be taken seriously, here or anywhere else, you'll have to stop dodging direct questions & resorting to insults when your statements are called into question. You tend to come across as just another tomc silly-type when you do this.

No offense but I've been around here a lot longer than you have and I have had just a few exchanges with Midas and his "questions". Can't tell you the number of times I used to answer them just to have him ask the same inane questions over and over. If it happens that I may run the risk of you not taking me seriously, I can live with that. Your signature belies your objectivity so taking you seriously isn't really an issue.

Ohhhhhhh, you've been here longer... what does does that afford you seniority? In certainly doesn't aid you in insight or compelling arguments.

If you have issues with BO's words & quotes it probably says more about BO that it does about me.

The achievements Palin has made(even the ones someone here made up) are no different or better than any other politician's. That doesnt make her qualified. And living in a state adjacent to Canada doesnt make you an expert on foreign affairs. But it sure was funny too read.

I come to realize that when you argue with the likes of Moen and other liberals/progressives, you do not argue against presented facts directly from the IRS itself, or statistics right from the C.B.O., you are in essence arguing against a "religion" that dulls their sure sense of reason and logic.

I understand that conservatism, capitalism, and liberty are all founded in empirical evidence that has proven time and time again that when people are free and you do not tax and regulate them to death, people will thrive and succeed.

There are limitless examples throughout history that show this, not to mention all of the economic data and history that support my assertions.

For fun, I asked Moen a number of times a simple question on how much ADDITIONAL he would like to see the producers of this country taxed?...not how often he has sex with his wife.

So fess up Moen...How much more? 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100% tax rates on top of the 15% social security tax producers/employers have to pay that is taken right off of the top! So enlighten us...liberals are good at spending somebody else's money so I just want to see how much you want to punish us with additional taxes.

Way I see it have a flat rate 15% or even 20% across the board but have a higher tax on luxury goods you want a super fast car then it costs you, you want a speed boat then it costs, you want your own private jet then it costs.
    How does that sound?

Second that...but trust me, it will never be enough and liberals will always cry out..."not fair" when today's punishing tax rate for producers is in fact far from fair.

    2 points here.
    1) Palin's experience was/is head & shoulders above BO's, that fact is obvious.
    2) Palin may not be any more experienced than some of the politicians out there (other than BO) but she sure isn't any less so- and she does have a resume that is impressive. Many on the far left try to dismiss her because they simply don't like her. Once her accomplishments are listed the naysayers will either ignore them or begin the personal attacks (see every thread moen has participated in on the subject).

Can anyone argue that she was a very successful governor? She brought the state a long way? Or that she left Alaska in a better condition from where she found it? Pretty impressive given the world's economic condition at the time, huh?

I will make one final statement regarding this conversation(s) of this thread and several others that pretty much play out the same way and then as your various egos demand, you can have the final word.

What strikes me as odd after these exchangers is the complete lack of statements such as, “I didn’t know that…”, or “That’s interesting to know…”, or “Could you tell me more about…”. I hear these types of inquisitive statements all day every day until I log into this forum so I’m acutely aware of the lack of a thirst for knowledge here. For instance, I have corrected several misconceptions about academia with regard to how salaries are determined, what teaching loads are based on, and several other aspects of higher education after David posted erroneous generalizations without so much as a minor acknowledgement or spark of interest in finding out more from someone who should know the inside story on academia. His sources were some guy on the radio and the fact that he was a student 25 years ago which seemed to be the only authority he put his faith in not some actually working in the field.

Now this got me thinking about people like David and people like Midas who already seem to know everything they need to know. Why do people at some point in their lives decide to stop learning and simply start looking for anything that will support their preconceptions of the world around them while completely ignoring anything that doesn’t match those preconceptions? They reach a point where they have to envision people as categories rather than individuals. They have to compress all behavior, attitudes, and people into “typical” highly linear automaton-ish drones that must support their preconceptions regardless of the inevitable glaring inconsistencies that arise.

One thing that is obvious by their choice of words is that they are egotists. They have to have the last word. They have to declare themselves the winner when you walk away in disgust. They can’t acknowledge a good counter point…EVER! They have so much invested in seeing themselves as right and superior that it is impossible for them to consider alternatives to their long held perspectives and that provides the basis for their inability to learn and yes grow as human beings. I imagine that people like this have always existed but I also believe that they are a dying breed since the process of change is inevitable and growth is constant.

I don’t expect them to be able to understand this sign-off or learn from it but if you encounter such individuals online or in life, don’t feel angry or confused by their behavior. They actually deserve your pity much more than your ire.

I can't believe you are complaining about things you do yourself. If you don't recognize your own egotism, then you have bigger problems than hiding in Academia.

No, no, I'm the elitist not an egotist. Try to keep your labels straight. :p

Are you serious? You're having a fit because no one here is falling at your feet begging for more of your "knowledge"? This is the real world partner, we have all had our own experiences by now. You aren't lecturing to a bunch of naive 17 year olds- we can see through your bull. I'm sure you hear "tell me more, tell me more" at school from kids who don't know any better but we in the real world know better.
