A commite in the cali leg is voteing on a bill to legalize and tax the posseion coltivation and distribution of Marijunia tomorow. Also a referndom will be held in Nov on leg and tax. I personaly say Good for them. The war on drugs cost america billions of dollars every year and makes narco terrorist billions of dollars. People are going to smoke Marijunia regardless so why not let philp morris sell it instead of the Mexican Drug Cartles. Think about it if pot is legal then

    a) More Tax money

    b) more gdp from investment and sale

    c) less money on prisions and corts the vast majority of people in jail are in for non-violent drug crimes

    d) more room in jail for actuall violent criminals.

    e) It would still be illegal to drive under the infulance so no harm there

    f) it will not hurt worker productivity because the same way that people can not go to work drunk you can not go to work high.

Time to end proabition and start making money instead of wasting it.

    Any thoughts?

Yeah and help to make folks even more brain dead than they already are, and make a buck off of it to boot. Hey, thieves are going to steal anyway...why not legalize theft and then tax the proceeds when they sell it? They're going to sell it anyway once it's stolen.

Tom folks allready use it and in very large numbers, yep make a buck out of it why not combating it costs quite a bit more dont it?
What is the cost to a police dept to charge a person for possesion of some weed in $$ and man hours?
Smoking is legal and that kills, Drinking is legal and that kills so why not

I tend to think the whole 'War On Drugs' has been a colossal waste of time, money and resources. And, as far as marijuana goes, the vast majority of the reason for laws against it are nothing more than legislating of morality.

The problem with legalizing drugs, however, is that there is too much coddling of the user who commits a real crime. This is also true of alcohol. Awwwww. They are addicted. Send them to rehab. Awwwww.

To go hand in hand with any legalization of drugs, there has to be an automatic responsibility for using them. Commit a crime. No drug rehab program. Just jail.

KJL: Please explain how a pice of legeslation projected to generate a billion dollars in revenue is going to make california any worse.

Tom: people are going to do what they do we should make money off of it. Also there is not proof that pot makes you stuiped. It may effect short term memory, but more research needs to be dune on this question

Stu: I agree. If you get drunk and beat someone up you should go to jail same for DUI and other crimes. Most crimes though are commited because the drugs are illegal. The current system is so screwd up that rapist and other violent crimals are getting early parole because of overcrowding. Remove 1/2 the jail population and we could actually loke up the true monsters.

I don't entirely disagree with that view DeOrc. I'm just trying to point out that laws/regulations/rules are originally created for a reason. Why stop at pot? Why not crack? Why not traditional prescription drugs like valium, percoset, or any other drug legal for leisurely recreational use? Why not? The answer is obvious, and I've seen many potheads that ain't worth a s***, and pot just makes 'em even more stupid. Drinking is pretty stupid too actually. Smoking? Three for three.

Yet from 1619 it was a legal requierment to grow Hemp LOL check out the Jamestown Colony law passed then :D California banned it in I believe 1913 now as for reasons for banning it LOL you realy should read up on it, it makes for facinating reading couple of examples of the speaches made in state legislates across the land :D

in 1927, the Butte Montana Standard reported a legislator’s comment: “When some beet field peon takes a few traces of this stuff… he thinks he has just been elected president of Mexico, so he starts out to execute all his political enemies.” In Texas, a senator said on the floor of the Senate: “All Mexicans are crazy, and this stuff [marijuana] is what makes them crazy.”

Dr. A. E. Fossier wrote in the 1931 New Orleans Medical and Surgical Journal: “Under the influence of hashish those fanatics would madly rush at their enemies, and ruthlessly massacre every one within their grasp.”

A few words attributed to the 1st head of the Bureau of Narcotics (Harry J. Anslinger)

“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”

“…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”

“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”

“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

“Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing”

“You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.”

“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”

So as you see the reasoning for the law might not be quite what you originaly thought it was

Pot makes you stupid. I've seen many "burnout" idiots while growing up that their specific stupidity was greatly magnified. Alcohol's been accepted longer but no less stupid when combining it with other activities. If somebody wants to smoke or drink themselves to death, they should have the right to do that. Granted. But how many "stupid" people combine their stupid activity with things like driving, peeing on a neighbor's steps or a telephone pole? You want to sit in a corner and kill yourself, knock yourself out. Problem is too many let their "enhanced state" dictate their actions, and then blame the chemical.

Ever see Leno's bit interviewing people on the street not being even able to name a current branch of government?

Just the way the corporate government likes it too. You don't know your rights, then you don't have any. That's America. More POT. (or just more I guess). Good little lemming citizen.

Damn Tom I'll have to agree with you on this one. (excuse me while I go burn one....no just kidding).

At least with alcohol you can choose your level of highness ....like one drink...or two with dinner.

But with pot your stoned especially if you get the "good stuff".

Those people were already stupid, the pot didn't do anything but give them an excuse to stop hiding their stupidity. Furthermore, trying to regulate human stupidity through the legal system is, well, stupid.

All drugs, not just pot, were once legal in this country. I don't believe that the criminalization of drugs in this country had anything to do with the public good or health. You are so good at questioning what the government feeds yet you believe in the rule of law. The laws banning drugs are more harmful and costly to society than the effects of legalization of those same drugs. If you research this topic with the same zeal that you have with 9/11, you will probably change your mind on the subject.

Yep. Pot makes you stupid. Alcohol kills you. But, it really isn't the government's job to save people from themselves.

Now, one can say that the government is trying to save people from the users of drugs by making them illegal. I have a hard time with that. It sounds good but a lot of what we have as evidence with alcohol says the exact opposite. Both in being legal now and when it was illegal during prohibition. Alcohol sales were a major source of crime during prohibition. And now? Not so much. When was the last time Auggy Busch killed anyone? ;)

Sure. Legalize everything. Better to encourage bad behavior rather than discourage it. Society needs the rule of law. That should be obvious. Society doesn't need a bunch of burnt out potheads staring into space with their mouths hanging open while stuffing themselves with nachos and cheese. Making a stupid activity illegal at least keeps the burnouts away from my neck of the woods to some extent cause I can always call the cops on such nitwits and have them arrested. Making it legal would just encourage stupid people to be more blatantly stupid without fear of reprisals. Besides, then idiots would be smoking and blowing that nasty smoke mine and my kid's way like they do today with cigarettes while rehearsing their stupidity. Not needed. We have enough problems with an already brain dead society.

Well, that is the other part I mentioned. You have to have responsibility for actions - which is currently very lacking in our touchy feely, send them to rehab, coddle them and give them free stuff society. If someone is doing something in your area that infringes upon your rights then you should be able to call the cops and have them dealt with regardless of why they are doing it - drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, general stupidity. Whatever.

  20. tomcorona

    tomcorona Anti republican truther

Tough to call the cops on a now. would be, legal activity. If they could arrest people for simply being stupid, that'd be a different story. That were the case though, Bush would have never gotten into politics.
