I was trying to point out the right's hypocrisy which you seem to represent. I was trying to point out that Obama was left with this mess handed to him by the party representing your idealogy, and that if Obama is taking us down a bad road (which is what your party suggests) then your party should have spoken up and be as arrogantly obstinent and as much of a hinderance and as voicetrous to the previous criminal as they are now. But that didn't happen, because A) he was their guy and they liked what he was doing, or B)they are hypocrits, or C) both. In any case, I don't "love" Obama Sean, but I do "love" any alternative to the mindset of the previous criminals and their followers and what they represent.
I do not mind a legally elected person being in the Presidential office ! I take exception to one who has no plan for the country. Leave a few soldiers to do a job that will take many, and you might as well leave the war zone. If you put more in more will die just on the percentages until you get an upper hand. People who volunteer for combat know what the down side is. They expect the Commander in Chief to trust his Generals to prosecute the war politic ans started. Peterus and MC Crystal and others are some of the best this country has ever seen. There is nothing flippant about war, or people giving their life for a serious cause. It is the inability of the Commander in Chief not to trust his generals that will cause unnecessary losses. Not being qualified to lead America will not only get troops killed, but will endanger the civil population also. Raising taxes in a depressed economy will cause undue stress on the population. Trying to accomplish a program that has failed everywhere it has been tried is consistent with lack of knowledge. America is not the problem , the leadership has gone very far astray. When you are asked to pay up for their errors what will you do ? This goes back several administrations ! Pep
"Leaving a few soldiers to do the jobs of many" is good business though isn't it? That's our corporate model. But I digress. If a leader is smart enouugh to surround themselves with smart people who can advise them..having whatever qualifications deemed "needed" is almost irrelavent. That said..having a good moral compass is essential for our leaders. I know we definately haven't had that the past 8 years. Whether or not we have it now remains to be seen IMHO. We've had 8 years to judge the previous gang of corruption and I'm pretty sure the votes are in. I don't think that moral compass is on the level of a Bush or a Cheney, but I could be wrong. Anyway it's the people around the president we need to worry about, and as long as that is corporate America and their elite squads of influence and corruption, we're all screwed anyway. Let's face it.
You get what you accept. If you give up on rebuilding America then things can and will get worse. It is not easy to be what, and who we are. We need to have a set of priorities. What comes first ? Safety of the people, jobs , health care , schools , our basic documents , massive corruption ? Many times if we go hard at one item, it will help solve other problems by the showing of our resolve to have our country our way. Most will settle on following our founding documents and go from there. If something in our documents is so out of line we can amend the Constitution if necessary. Where do we start, what will make heads turn, and politic ans blood run cold ?? Pep
Giving up isn't the answer for sure, but what do you do with folks who only see their small little window of the world? For instance, I know you disagree on 911., but to me, that says it all. Folks simply refuse to engage themselves in anything that isn't immediate and directly beneficial to them personally. That's the corporate mindset we are all so accustomed to. But 911 is just one example. We get everything from China now, and we could care less whether or not people, children, or the Pope was exploited to get our goods...so long as they're cheap enough. (and trust me...they'd be a LOT cheaper still if corporations weren't adding in their bloated profit margins). But that's America. That's capitalism! We should just be happy with the spare change that falls out of the collective corpoate pockets and ignore the morally deficient profiteers and their practices. Because that's America. Just be happy it isn't you. Right? Hey..remember the 'good old days' when you could actually work, be rewarded for your work, the company you worked for would take care of you if you help take care of them? You'd get retirement.,raises, a future..things like that. Those days are long gone brother. 'An honest days work for an honest days pay'. Remember that? Gone baby...gone. Today it's 'how cheap can we get you'?, 'how much time/work can we get out of you'? 'how can we extract MORE from our most expensive (but most essential) labor pool'? Profit....bottom lines...higher profits..lower labor costs..stock portfolios...congratulatory CEO bonuses for stepping on as many heads as they can crush and extract MORE from (or get discarded in the process). Now THAT's America baby. We're Walmart!!! We're China!! Hell, Ford is making "American" cars mostly there now. You may have noticed that we don't make a damn thing here any more except advertising and commercials geared at extracting the remaining pennies left over. "Buy our new drug!! We have one for everything" Profit..profit and MORE profit for those near the top.,and as little as inhumanly possible for everyone else (especially the exploited that actually make it possible to achieve those infinite profits). I can remember when China was "the big bad boogie man" that did horrible things to it's people and they're not like us. They're terrible people. Now...they're our number one "business" partner. Hooray for progress. Now you may consider my views as "giving up". I consider them more in line with 'facing reality'. I still have faith in some folks in this world. I've witnessed it. Individuals are good. Corporations are NOT. That's reality.
Maybe more troops will help proect those that are there now. Ever consider that? Strength in numbers?
We shouldnt even be there helping or guiding those barefooted goat herders at all. Ever consider that? Maybe maybe maybe ''more troops will help protect...''. And maybe it wont. It probably wont. So why do it? With all the killing technology we have in missles and bombs and pilotless planes, I cant believe we'd need to send a single person over there.
I would not spend one single life trying to help the Afghani people have a better life or a democracy or be safe or anything else.
Which a lot can be done by bombing the heck out of them. Once the mountains are flat, we can stop and see what's left that might need personal attention.
But that would take out half of our CIA and other government "businessmen". Where else is Hallibutron supposed to sell a can of soda for 25 dollars if we don't have plans to bomb somebody though? Good point.
Hey if you guys want to fight it out forever with those ingrates, go ahead. So you get rid of the taliban. Then what? Some other tribe will take over and oppress the others. you think Karzi is a man of peace? Do you think he will lead that half-assed country out of the dark ages? He doesnt even know how a coat works. Al-queda? Theres no corporate headquartes. They can form anywhere.
