This is a first in my lifetime and I live in this county. http://www.post-trib.com/news/lake/1860679,lcvote.article I guess my vote wouldn't count because I couldn't vote.
Don't worry...noone's votes really count anyway. The corrupted "Preimere election systems"..better know as "DIEBOLD"..you know the one's that ran that voter scam of 2000 and 2004? The one that counted more votes for Bush than people that lived in the counties he stole. Have dollar will buy.
Give it a friggin break David. I didn't say anything about the parties involved did I? In case you didn't know there is more than one party in Lake County. How about yours? It wasn't a party issue it was a lack of money issue. Due to lack of money to actually hold this election I wasn't able to vote for/against something that may add even more taxes to the area I live in. That said for anyone that has trouble reading the link I'll just copy and paste. This is from the Gary, IN Post Tribune "In Lake County, it's a non-election election Comments November 3, 2009 BY ANDY GRIMM, (219) 648-3073 GARY -- For Lake County election officials today is a day like any other, though it's an Election Day like no other. Lake County Council members in August balked at the $400,000 cost of holding the state-mandated referendum vote called for today for voters in Lake, Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph counties. So at issue today, in Porter and St. Joseph counties, is a yes or no vote on the creation of a Regional Transportation Authority that would fund commuter transportation in the four counties with money from an income tax. In Lake County, no ballots were printed, no paychecks were prepared for poll workers and no voting will take place today, said Sally LaSota, county elections director. "What could we do? We had no money. We want to follow the law and hold elections, but there was just no way," she said. "This has never happened before." Officials in LaPorte County also are ignoring the state law passed in the June special legislative session. LaSota said she hopes lawmakers will modify the legislation when they return to Indianapolis in January, and set the vote for the May primary or November general election votes in 2010, when adding the referendum question will create no additional cost. But community activist Joe Hero, an attorney who filed a formal complaint about the looming non-vote during the Lake County Board of Elections meeting in October, notes there is no law on the books saying there will be another vote. Hero suggested in August that the election board file a lawsuit to demand funding for the election. The election board received his complaint at the October meeting, then adjourned until the Nov. 17 regular session. "Everybody is sitting on their hands, and it's frustrating," said Hero, head of the Republican precinct organization in St. John. "The County Council took an oath to uphold the laws of the state and the Constitution, and that's what they should have done." Perhaps "Joe Hero" should fund it out of his pocket. Oh, I"ve never really heard of him and he runs for office up here? Hmmm... seems Lil' Joe doesn't do so well. So it would seem that he was just looking for a way to get his name in the local paper. I haven't heard anyone up here mention his name - EVER. So what is his solution? Too late it already happened. I'll give him this though. At least he found one moron to point out that he was a Republican "leading the charge". For folks with a modicum of brains. The LARGEST of the counties involved could NOT vote on this issue.
Just maybe...just maybe...the so-called "blue" democrats that profess to be fiscally conservative will realize that you cannot tax and spend yourself into prosperity. It has never worked and it will never will. After all, you can't have employees without employers first and foremost. These are the people that work harder, work longer and make smart decisions over those who do not. If you are going to keep on taxing and hindering employer efforts so somebody like B.O. (it stinks) can take their money and give to his supporters, it is a formula for economic collapse. As Margaret Thatcher once said, "The problem with socialism is that you evenutally run out of somebody else's money".
And as much as I admired Lady Thatcher for much of what she did, if you follow her example to the limits you end up with a country with no Industry worth a damn, all the mines shut, highest levels of unemployment. You have to learn were to draw a line and that goes for both sides of the political spectrum
Didnt she say something else? Thats the only quote you take from her. And Midas, guys like Gould and the Morgan and Carnegie and the like were all kings of thier industries. And good for them. But they made thier fortunes of the backs of harder workers who worked longer hours for crap wages and no benefits. Employers efforts to do what? Without employees, an employer just has an idea.
Don't forget it's employers who have the creativity and initiative to start a business & take all the risks with their money. I guess it can be a chicken or the egg argument depending on your perspective.
Please PROVE to me how you can have employees without employers first...these are the people that work harder, work longer, take the risk with time and money, and yes, make smart decisions. Socialists want us to believe that these PRODUCERS should give up all the fruits of their labor. Question for the socialists out there: How much MORE do you want? 60-70-80-90-100% of all of their earnings? Shoot, the top 50% of wage earners already pay almost 98% of all taxes collected by the government (Source: IRS). So...how much MORE do you want?
Control Control gets you all of what you want from 300 m people. All of the House is up for election in 1 year and 1/3 of the Senate. If you have a statement to make that will be the time to stop the movement to a Socialistic Government. Vote out all incumbents. Yes some good will float to the top but the osmosis of washinton politcs makes them all smell bad after a few terms. Once you bathe in their cesspool you are part of the smell..
...Another option would be to NOT SPEND money we don't have!! That's how it works at my house, how about yours?
Unless it is somebody's elses money. Liberals have no problems doing that...they just want to be able to control how somebody else's money is spent, never their own. Think about it. It is easy to be a liberal. You can say, "I want this and I want that". You don't have to look in your wallet to see if you can afford it because you FORCE somebody else to pay for it. As stated, the top 50% of all wage earners already PAY almost 98% of all taxes received by the government. Question for liberals...HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU WANT??
..and the first ones to ask for bailouts from the government but want government out of people's lives. I guess I could take the republican point of view and say, "Hey, noone put a gun to their heads to make them take the risks. You knew the rules going in. Don't like it? Move to another country. Take on some personal responsibility and quit whining."
Wrong It has been proven that raising taxes chokes the economy. With a consumer economy lower taxes bring in higher revenues. ALWAYS . It does not appear that the Socialists in the Government get the idea , it is not law if they say so or even make a bill and have the POTUS sign it. If a law is unconstitutional it is illegal. This has been going on for a long time, and is so reconized by members of congress. They do not read bills, they do not look to see if they meet guide lines of our founding documents. Large government means large dollars spent. Large taxes means the people have less to spend. We are a Democratic Republic. Capitalism is the way we conduct business. Not by government ownership ! The stimlus was a way to pay for votes from GM and others. Many should have went directly to bankruptcy court. Up to half of the donations for Obama came from outside the shores of America. Influence peddling at it`s worst. If anyone thinks more taxes are the answer, and borrowing what little we can will make American whole again, you are going to lose your job if you have one. Marxist thinking never works, nor has government health care ever worked any where for any extended time. Change is not what people thought it was. Change is outlined as reditribution of the wealth. That is a Socialist,Marxist premise. If you believe that , then you were duped. Read " Rules for Radicals " that is Obams play book. Saul Alinsky the author was a Marxist. Pep
I'd say it's been proven leaving wall street and corporate America free to reign supreme unchecked to rape and pilfer isn't the answer.
