Stu, it was a slow pitch lob that he could have hit out of the park! He could have taken the lemon and made lemon pie!! He even went so far as to say himself he didn't feel he deserved it!!!!! All he had to do was respectfully decline. It would have taken an ounce of class. That's all. He would have instantly been admired for it and it would have been remembered for all time! Instead, he hacked at that slow pitch like a girl and struck out!!! He's not one to turn down the spot light (or money) so that a comoner who earned it could have a chance!! Just gave political rivals more fuel for the fire when he could have been the better man about it. I find it pathetic.
The nice thing is that this is the last post of yours I will have to see and I don't even need to be a moderator to make that happen.
I can't think of too many politicians who's egos would allow them to turn down any award. Of course, I can;t think of many with an ounce of class either.
Lehigh as you are posting them in a open forum Stu has as much right as any to comment, it is his buisnesss unless you take it off line and make it private.
Once you gave your warning to Tom and I, there was no reason for him to make such a post other than to needle us. My post was intended to make him think twice the next time he considers such a low brow move. Instead he decided to show his true colors by adding me to his ignore list.
The way I see it is he certainly didn't deserve it, as said before here, he said this much himself. As for turning it down...I don't think its the fact he is a politician, I just don't think many people would turn down something like this if it was given. I believe he has said he will be giving the award money to charity...I think it was enough for him to admit he didn't deserve it... The award lost much of its meaning anyway since it was given to Yasser Arafat. Who next? Moammar Kadafi ?
I have never been nominated for a Nobel but I have turned down 3 awards in my life that I can remember off the top of my head. Ok, so he says he doesn't think he deserved it...but he accepted it anyway. Me thinks his actions don't jive with his words. Is here a presentation for this award? And is he going to it? I don''t know the answer to either but it would be interesting to know.
Obama and Nobel Piece Prize The US is going to start war on Iran for the reason of patro-dollar. Bush activated Iraq war for the same reason. Now it's Obama's turn. European doesn't want war base on their opinion. That's why they give Obama the peace prize - wish to stop the war before it happens. It really embarassed Obama and the US Inside group. That's why there are so many negative comments on the reward Obama gets. It will make the war intention more difficult to come true. Now will they still start the war? Your bet.
There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena Sendler. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' .... She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted. Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize .... She was not selected. Instead... - - Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming (now called Climate Change). - - Now, B.O. wins for ??????.
You typed that story word for word. I bet there were alot of canidates for the prize since its inception who deserved it more than the winner. Why they gave it to Obama is one of those WTFs that happen.
You have to admit...this is funny and if I were driving down the road, it would make me stop and order just for the hell of it:
