I support Obama but I have to agree. The Nobel committee was a little preemptive for considering/awarding him with this prize less than a year into his presidency. Next year probably would have been more appropriate if things in Afghanistan improve and the war in Iraq ends. Not the best choice for the award.
For the record, I think B.O. winning the Nobel Peace Prize is a sham...and award is totally going to be discredited by awarding a person that has done nothing except preach "hope and change" or is it "change and hope" or what ever this community organizer can muster up. BTW...when I call out B.O., for the record...I am attacking the WHITE half of his ancestry. That way, you cannot state that I am racist for disagreeing with the President. When SNL opens their show last weekend highlighting ALL of the things that B.O. has NOT done...you know it is bad: http://www.hulu.com/watch/99945/saturday-night-live-obama-address Watch it and have a good laugh!
Now you know how we felt about you for the last 8 years. The truth is that questioning and criticizing your national leaders openly without fear of retribution is wholly American. What is unamerican is spreading lies and propaganda in an attempt to stain your nations reputation. For example, claiming that 9/11 was an inside job and stating that the US never landed on the moon come to mind. BTW, There is a new conspiracy theory that accuses Obama of bribing the Nobel committee with the prize money so that he would not be snubbed by both the Olympics and Nobel.
I know many B.O. people get that "tinging feeling going up and down their leg" when B.O. speaks...hence the only reason one can conclude why B.O. was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, but sorry...it won't make the world a better place. Actions speak louder than who can yell "hope and change" the most often. A better choice would have been Cindy Castano, she's an “ordinary" person working to stop slavery and islamic genocide in the Sudan. If any person deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for Peace, it is her.
I think the Nobel committee may have been playing a cruel joke on Obama & the US...I think they wanted to showcase the absurdity of Obama being elected Pres and see if he would really have the audacity to stand up on the public stage & accept the award (and the money, don't forget the money!). And getting back to danr's "unpatriotic" comments....the difference is this: The libs & dem spent the past several years pointing out how bad & how wrong the US was....the conservatives & Republicans are simply pointing out how bad & how wrong Obama is. The libs & dems don't care about the country remaining great, they are concerned with reshaping our country and accomplishing their own power grab...Conservatives & Republicans want to retain this country's greatness.
I doubt it. It is probably more of a case of one's friends being worse than one's enemies sometimes. The committee wanted to give him the prize because they wanted to show how much they like him and how happy they are that he is not George Bush. The problem was that he didn't deserve the award and they put him in a very awkward and embarrassing position and gave his political rivals something else to mock him about.
Oh you nailed it. What a perceptive guy. So you do admit the past several years have been bad and wrong headed by a conservative republican. Good for you. Truth is you'll always have both sides crying if they dont get thier way.
I don't consider it unAmerican for any person to state their views on whether Obama deserves or doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. Personally I don't think he has done a thing to deserve it, other than speaking a good game, but than again most politic ans do that. They will say what ever it takes to get them self elected. Heck if I remember correctly, when Obama was first elected to the Senate he was asked about running for President, and of course I am paraphrasing here because I don't recall or have his exact words in front of me, but it was something like. I have just become a US Senator, let me serve out my first term in office before I make that choice. I guess a full term is only two years for a US Senator. Now I will defend anyones First Amendment right to say what ever they want about the job Obama is doing, whether he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize or not. Just because I may not agree with the job he is doing does not make me UnAmerican nor does it make me a racist. It just plain and simple makes me an American with the RIGHT that is correct RIGHT as defined by the First Amendment to state such. I not only have that RIGHT to so, I have also EARNED it by giving 20 years of my life and yes my health by serving in the Military (Navy) to guarantee not only mine but the RIGHTS of others as defined under the US Constitution. As such I find it quite offensive for anyone to say you are UnAmerican because you do not agree with Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, or for not agreeing with his policies. It is simply just the cowards way out of actually answering a direct and to the point question. How dare you ask me what he has done, you are UnAmerican to do so. Newsflash, I am not the one who posts 8 times in a row without waiting for a response. And I believe the expression is "empty wagons make the most noise". Get it right.
Sorry...my elementary school teacher used to say it that way routinely. Newsflash.....contrary to what you're accustomed to, there ARE other ways of doing and expressing things aside from yours...
