Do you feel the effect of inflation ? Groceries, school tution, insurance ( Home ,vehicle , diability , business , Health ). A tip for those who are retired military or had a father or mother who was, here is a little help. USAA was oraganized for small investors and families . You may buy at reduced rates as this is a private comapany for retired Military and their children. Insurance, credit cards, investments etc. With the dollar sinking from 89 in Mar 09, on the futures boards ( Nymex) to 75-77 in todays market the difference is showing up as inflation in my case on insurance etc. Larger deductibles, are a form of self insurance , but can help when some things are moving up. Any form of taxation, or bills that allowed lower rates are allowed to expire will move discreationary spending to a minium. The system has been pumped with a lot of new currency since the first of theyear. I do not think a government can spend ,and tax to end a recession. These are my impressions and I do not speak for others ! Pep
I'm not worried at all. It is coming, rampant inflation. Look at history. Very little cash on hand, but loads of shiny stuff. If you prepare you will not be caught off guard.
This makes for good reading http://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.nr0.htm http://www.forecasts.org/inflation.htm
How does one buy a credit card? And cant a retired military person go to a naval exchange or PX and get food and the like at reduced prices. Or even order from them?
Since I moved from a high cost of living area to a low cost of living area in that time frame, I haven't noticed any effects of inflation. Most of my monthly expenses went down. lol As far as military exchanges, they aren't always a great bargain and have limited selection. I have always thought they were geared more towards officer's pay or trying to get junior enlisted in debt. They are mostly good for big purchases (like a TV or something) as the biggest benefit is you don;t pay sales tax. For the majority of things...people on a budget are better off at a discount store. Mostly the same with commissaries as far as bargains...you are better off shopping at a bag your own grocery store if you are on a budget or something like a Sams Club if you can buy in bulk.
Puttting more people to work printing money!! Run extra shifts! Open new facilities! Obama's newest stimulus plan?
One point about putting more people to work, that in itself has the knock on effect of creating more employment. Look at it like this, if those extra workers were not working then they would not be able to spend, spending helps industry and commerce to grow so it in turn will help to secure jobs and those who believe they are in secure jobs will in turn encouraged to spend and so the cycle grows LOL
