I watched a couple of the news shows this morning, trying to catch as much of Obama as I could. The best line had to be from Brit Hume on Fox Broadcast....he said something to the effect that Obama & his co-horts were knocked off their game a little. Even though Obama is a great speaker & is very likable his ability of persuasion lacking. Apparently he has overestimated his "personal wonderfullness". Priceless!!
You can only be all things to all people for so long...like until you get the job. Once the blank slate starts to be written on, they lose followers.
What part of "he said something to the effect" did you not grasp? One more...this one from Obama "shout out to Derk Jeter". Not sure how presidential it is to give a "shout out" on national tv when important issues facing the country are being discussed.
Oh. Its just that cohorts is a word usually not associated with a Presidents cabinet. So that word would kind of stand out. But I guess its a word you chose. And whose Derk Jeter?
I thought George Stepanapolpoulpoulpulous was the best. Hillary will resign in 2010 and scalp the imposter in '12. This dude is toast, as is his plan. I am with DanR on this, Hillary in 2012.
Wasn't it on Georgie's show when Obama acted like he didn't know about Acorn's "predicament" and the fact they rec'd billions in public money? You know, Axelrod & Gibbs really need to give him more information before he goes out before the public.
Yea like when nixon said ''sock it to me''. And TR said bully alot.(A term used often in the 1890's and early 1900's). Like trendy words and catch phrases you mean, right? Yea, no other POTUS would stoop so low.
Presidential or brilliant David? I'll give you some ammo here and I really had no intentions of replying to this thread (or most others for that matter because they have become SO boring). Read about Derek Jeter here. Short easy read. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ang...op-derek-jeter-reaches-another-milestone.html So President Obama gave him a shout out. Well, considering baseball is "America's pastime", Derek Jeter is a class act and has been his whole career and he's breaking records set by an icon does he not deserve it? This coming from a guy that hates the Yankees but good is good and Derek Jeter has been a great role model. I've never heard a bad thing about Jeter honestly. If a team wins the World Series are they not invited to the White House? How about football teams or basketball teams? You know teams with guys like the nefarious Michael Jordan who seems to have had some gambling issues? Remember any of that? How many of these guys shook the POTUS' hand then fell on hard times due to lack of personal discretion? Was the President to blame? Should he have seen it all and said "well DON'T let Dennis Rodman in here". No the acting President would do it due to protocal. Putting a shout out to Derek Jeter is no worse than reading "My Pet Goat" while the country is being terrorized. You grasp at straws coated with Vaseline.
Slowdown Clembo, Why are you calling Michael Jordan nefarious? Last time I checked, gambling in a casino is legal.
Clembo, Giving praise to Jeter is one thing but giving a "shout out" on national tv is a little less than presidential don't you think? Shaking an athletes hand is one thing but a "shout out" isn't much different than a chest bump or knuckling up...I haven't seen that in the WH rose garden.
Now if you realy want to sound Un Presidential try on some of these clangers LOL “Queen Elizabeth Taylor.” – Thai Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa, referring to the Queen of England. “In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals, like in your country." – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, referring to the USA while addressing Columbia University. "I would never approach a small-breasted woman." – President Clinton, denying that he had sexually harassed Kathleen Willey. “Life has become better, life has become more fun!” Josef Stalin. The irony of this phrase is that he said it at the peak of mass repressions organized by him at the end of 1930s. “I am not a communist and neither is the revolutionary movement.” – Fidel Castro. But he also said: “I am a Marxist-Leninist and I will be one until the last day of my life.” "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." – Washington, D.C., August 5, 2004 – George W. Bush. "This is a great day for France!" – President Richard Nixon at French President Charles de Gaulle's funeral. And for the hell of it a few more LOL "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do." -- Ronald Reagan, 1981 "This fellow they've nominated claims he's the new Thomas Jefferson. Well let me tell you something; I knew Thomas Jefferson. He was a friend of mine and Governor... You're no Thomas Jefferson!" -- Ronald Reagan, 1992 "It's no exaggeration to say that the undecideds could go one way or another." - George Bush, US President "I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions --but I don't always agree with them." - George Bush, US President "I was provided with additional input that was radically different from the truth. I assisted in furthering that version." - Colonel Oliver North, from his Iran-Contra testimony To build a twenty-first-century economy, America must revive a nineteenth-century habit--investing in the common, national economic resources that enable every person and every firm to create wealth and value. Bill Clinton "Hawaii is a unique state. It is a small state. It is a state that is by itself. It is a --it is different from the other 49 states. Well, all states are different, but it's got a particularly unique situation." - Dan Quayle, US VP "I've read about foreign policy and studied -- I know the number of continents." - George Wallace, 1968 presidential campaign "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. Earnest Benn "I want to start by saying something nice about President Bush. Of all the presidents we've had with the last name of Bush, his economic plan ranks in the top two." Jenny0103 Senator John Kerry "A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen." Winston Churchill "If you can't convince them, confuse them." Harry S Truman The essence of a free government consists in an effectual control of rivalries John Adams Whatever starts in California unfortunately has an inclination to spread. Jimmy Carter
Don't worry Lehigh I was just making a point. MJ did have some controversy swirling around him considering wagering on golf games. Big bucks and not in the Casinos. Honestly I couldn't care less. He was a great basketball player and overall a great role model.
What's wrong with a 'shout out'? Especially in reference to a sports figures' accomplishment? Seems rather appropriate. I don't like a lot about the President but one thing I do think is refreshing is that he at least attempts to seem like he knows something about this century. lol And it's not like he gave a 'shout out' to the Queen of England or something. And it is not like a 'shout out' is a profanity. It's not like a VP telling someone to "Go F--- Yourself." lol
So he should only use white phrases, and white getures? Maybe he shouldve given ''Derk'' a Don Ameche wave*. Would thatve been white enought for ya?
