Of course you wouldn't blame the product. What a surprise. Mercury isn't just in bottled soda. It's in processed foods (which is all a lot of people eat and is made AVAILABLE to them in bulk because it's cheaper to profit from processed foods...another shocker). The "little bit" you defend is in almost everything today via the processed foods. Hardly anything with real sugar but PLENTY of processed, and HFCS (not to mention added gluten which chemically equates to making you eat more...hence more product...hence more profit. MORE. There's that word again. Can I point to something that will specifically say mercury in food products is killing people? Nope. Common sense should dictate differently though. Here's how I view this particular topic. Corporate America works both heads of the family to death, leaves them little time to prepare proper nutrition, and then further capitalizes on the situation by providing "quick and easy meals" processed as cheaply as they possibly can. People buy them and use them because they don't have time. But the profiteers will argue it's the consumers choice that they are catering to, and therefore "not their responsibility"(nothing in a corporation ever is). Long story short...MORE. Gone are the days of morality, long since replaced with the profit mentality. The bottom line. But again, I digress. My point is that if a product is made with little or no regard (as is obviously the case) to the end consumer under the guise of "profitability", then yes, the product, those that make the products/profits are liable for the degradation of everyone that can't afford to eat high quality food and sip champagne (because they're too busy working, making MORE profit for the original rapists), and so on and so on. The difference between my take and yours is that (surprise, surprise), you choose to dump it all on the consumer, and I choose to dump it more on the mega profit mentality that is all but destroyed this country for the sake of excess. Problem, reaction, solution (to borrow a phrase from David Icke). Create the problem, wait for the reaction by the public, then offer the solution. That IS corporate America and that IS the mentality used that has our country, and possibly the world, on the brink of extinction. Not what's right or wrong..rather..how can I best profit. Hence Walmart, and the Walmart mentality we're all drowning in. It is all born of greed..plain and simple, but that's the immoral, self destructive nature of the corporate mentality. I am still waiting for you to even start proving that mercury is killing people. How about starting by telling everyone what level of mercury exists in certain foods and then quoting a scientific study showing that those levels are harmful to humans. I guess it is just easier to scream, it's mercury----it's toxic! On the other hand, you could take a trip to a third world country and see how they eat. Oh that's right, many of them don't eat, they starve. Now this is a joke, but not really. If Americans are suffering from mercury poison, I submit that it is more likely that they are eating 3x as much as they should be and that if they ate the proper servings, they amount of mercury in the food would not be harming them.
