Have we messed up the basics THAT bad?

Some interesting reading here concerning the basis for our own Constitution.

    http://www.wsu.edu/~dee/CULAMRCA/IRLEAGUE.HTM

    http://www.constitution.org/cons/iroquois.htm

Put together by obvious "non Christians" it worked pretty well until Europeans came along.

Just a glance at their Constitution reveals Democracy, Socialism and even a bit of Borg mentality.

I just started reading up on this subject but apparently it's still in place. Wonder if we'll be able to say that as a nation after that many years?

To long to read now Clembo...give us some cliff notes. It's bedtime here.

America, when first formed, tried socialism. We will share all the food we hunt and grow, all the land we clear, all the firewood we chop and all the clothes we sew.

About 50% of the folks turned lazy slackers.

They changed the rules to you keep what you reap.......and it stuck. Some on welfare, some got rich. Capitolism worked.

No cliff notes Jack I'm still pecking away at it. Do the same when you can dude because you'll start to see this was not all about Socialism.
It was one hell of a combination of many "theories on government" from what I've read. Why else would I mention the "Borg". Talking Star Trek Next Generation here.
When these people conquered another nation they assimilated them as their own. Sounds bizarre but they became members of the tribe with the same rights. It was a way to replace what they lost and avoided unnecessary slaughter.

Considering that their Constitution was handed down by word of mouth it's really amazing. Just doing a bit of reading many think it started between 1575 and 1600. Others put it back as far as the 1100s AD.

It was very well laid out and addressed everything from political to spirtual and it worked. It worked until the Europeans came at least.

I shall continue to read up on this at my leisure. I find it fascinating. Perhaps I'll fill you in as you are the only one that even posted in my thread.

I do have one question though.

Why did you jump on the word Socialism right off the bat? Their ways involved a lot more than socialism, was well thought out and was working.

One of the greatest assimilators was Alexander :D and I dont think any one in there right mind would ever consider calling him a Socialist LOL

    Hey Clembo,
I guess I did not respond simply because I have no need to go back any further than the Declaration of Independence, and our own constitution to see how far off the mark we are. I did however read the information in your links, and found it interesting.

A good point there Elmosworld but glad you read it.

I'm still reading up on it but the scope of what they covered and how they covered it is amazing. In many cases well beyond what the "settlers" brought with them.

I'd suggest reading "A Brilliant Solution: The Making of the US Constitution", it really draws lines of how far off we (mostly when it comes to the lack of states rights today and how presidents have power they weren't ever really suppose to have)

Beck's a little wacky, but his core values are pretty good. I just don't understand some things he says, like saying Obama wants Health Care Reform because of reparations? That's just wrong

But I have the book in my house already, just never read it. I'll give it a shot.

Are those the same values he had when he was on msnbc? Aug. 28, 2009-I made a mistake. He was on CNN not MSNBC. Thanks AJ.

Too be honest, I don't know enough about his past too make judgement on him. I retract my statement that his core values are good.

Beck was not on MSNBC, he was on CNN.......

CNN is almost a credible network, MSNBC has the lowest ratings of all cable news and have rendered themselves not relevant. Chris Matthews has an accident in his pants when Obama speaks, Keith is a sour miserable wannabe, and Rachael is still pondering the " addadicktome " operation.

    No Craig
I will not kill the messanger if the message is decent. Facts are facts. Regardless of who delivers them.

Woo Hooo, he cried on TV. ( So did Clinton)
Woo Hoo he lied on TV ( So did Clinton)
WooHoo he hypes crap ( so did Clinton)

I study the facts bud, and only accept what is credible and has a source that I can verify. Becks ratings are up to #1 on cable news ( yes I can back this up ) and his book is a NYT best seller.........

So Beck fooked us once. Lets put him on probation and still listen. You have a prob with that? Some folks are getting shystered by Obama on a daily basis and still drink at the trough, so go figure.

The koolaide gang does not care that they have been lied to, they are cult members with Oba-aaaa-aaaaa-ma ( sheep voice) at the helm of their existance. No power to self think and self explore. They repeat and parrot what Nancy Pelosi and the Huff tells them to repeat and say.

Provide links or a counter with facts? You are a racist. You don't drink at the BO trough? You are a NAZI, mob member, a radical. Sorta Manson like don't ya think? Cultish? Mindnumb and blank in the head?

    LOL, this is fun.

Nice rant Jack but let's throw ratings aside for a moment and have another beer.

FOX may have the ratings but does that absolutely mean they speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? I KNOW you love FOX dude but if you're going to talk reality apply it to ALL networks.

Beck is popular right now because so many morons follow him for his antics. He's losing a ton of sponsers. Think ole Rupert's gonna put up with that when it dies down and the dollars stop rolling in? Rupert's about money dude and if you start losing it for him your sorry little butt is gone. Capitalism at work.

Say what childish things you want to about the folks on MSNBC but they are there for a reason. It's called a counterpoint and it's something you'll never find on FOX.

.....and now back to the Iriquois.

Okay Craig A we need him.( Beck) I mean, without him and his tie raids or charades, depending what side of the argument you are on. Without this guy ranting and raving how much fact searching is anyone doing? I hate to say this but I will, without this guy I would be a sheep awaiting the slaughter. We are not the norm here, none of us would fit the middle stream America norm. I know it hurts but we all need to bite the bullet. We need to see him as a tool but the question remains, what are we doing to raise awareness? What are we going to do to get this train back on track? How much time is really left?

I have a feeling he isnt doing much on the research end of his show. Anyone can get ''the story'' by reading a newspaper. I'm sure his staffdoes the researching. He just beefs it up or takes liberties with the truth. Need him? If he was gone, another jester would take his place.
