The man did his time and paid fines and is doing community service.
Did you want to hang him for dog fighting ??? Now that would be a hate crime.

 

Dog fighting? Really? Didnt he drown the losers? Kill dogs for no reason at all? Yea, youre right. He's a stand up guy.

I do wish the punishment would have been more harsh. As an animal lover, I believe animal cruelty is one of the worst things a human can do. What Vick did was worse.

What happened to all the folks against dog fighting?? About 99% of them are silent now....just when ya need 'em. They will not call out old Billy Bob from North Carolina for fighting his dog cause nobody knows him.

They made an example of Vick and they should have....but to crucify him is absurd.

 

Professional athletes are put on a special celebrity pedistal. They are looked upon as heroes and become role models for children. Vick will end up getting more press and airtime than Michael Jackson before this all settles down and only because this low-life criminal knows how to play football! The puppy mills will be celebrating the return of Vick and his money, only this time he will be more careful not to get caught.

 

Ok. The next time I eat dog I will forgive Vick. The next time someone goes fishing for pitbulls, I will then understand how someone gives someone like Vick a job. I'm not saying that he didnt do his time. Great. That doesnt make him a hero ya know. Big difference one how someone percieves a criminal and the crime. I can understand if he had to do that crap for a living to feed his kids. Or if he stole some food because he was hungry. and theres a difference between somone standing off a highway shooting someone else's cows for kicks and a guy in a slaughterhouse. I never said crucify him. But you act like he has a God given right to return to football. I dont give a crap about the guy. But F him, let him work fo a living now.

Michael Vick did a horrible thing, said he was sorry (don't know if he means it or not) and served the necessary time. Our justice system sucks, I'll give you that much.
I believe if you kill somebody you should be killed yourself, no exceptions, none of this life in prison with possibility of parole after ten years, lets be honest, that is bull! But dogs aren't the same as humans, I believe he should have gotten more jail time, but he shouldn't have been banned, lifetime, from the NFL, or anything else.
He did what he did, we have to live with that, it is that simple.

I brought it up so I reckon I should comment.

What Vick did was heinous and yes he has served his time. I figured he'd be back. Actually thought Oakland if anyone as they'll sign anyone.

Anyway he'll continue to pay every time he sets foot on a field. He'll get harassed big time by fans and I reckon there's a linebacker or two out there that owns a dog.

As for your analogies Buckwheat. Yep I eat burgers, chicken etc. Not ones that were raised for the sole purpose of fighting then killed and discarded if they didn't perform well.
Ever see what happened to the dogs that were saved from him and his buddies? Some have found homes thankfully. They were terrified of humans due to all of the abuse they took. Yep, vicious dogs trained to kill one another were terrified of the species they could easily tear to bits.

Now I'll admit I actully do fish. I catch and eat or release. If I release I don't torture the fish first. Tried drowning one once and it just doesn't work.
Also having a fish hook actually go through my cheek as a child (odd story) I can tell you it hurt. I did get over it once the hook was out and don't fear fish hooks to this day.

Any "sport" that puts an animal at discomfort soley for the entertainment of people is not a good thing. Bullfighting, cockfighting etc are barbaric.

I do enjoy the bull runs in Pampalona though. A bunch of morons try to outrun a bull and occasionally one gets gored. Serves 'em right for being so damn stupid in the first place.

Now like it or not Vick will play. I can live with that. I don't really see his career lasting too long. In the meantime maybe 7-11 is hiring. He really did throw away his own career and has no one to blame but himself.

 

Dog fighting is dog fighting, it doesn't matter what your annual salary is...

And again the quote out of context. Nice. I didnt comment on any salary. I said dog fighting for a living. Like you mention about BillyBob in S.C. or something. But now that you mention it; what he did is worse because there was no necessity for it. It was him just being a dick. He said he was sorry because he gotr caught. Otherwise it would still be going on, right? Or did he come to his senses, but it was too late; the police found out.

Next time I eat a dog or catch a Pit Bull while fishing, I'll turn myself in to the ASPCA, it would be easy, my wife is a member. If I ever think about wanting to strangle or drown one of my cats for losing a pis sing match with another of my cats, I will reread this thread beforehand and try to change my mind.

There is something wrong with what Vick did, I'm not taking up for him at all. What I'm saying is if you are still upset about this you need to get the hell over it

 

I agree with you there, he said he was sorry because he got caught, do I think he is seriously sorry? Not really. Do I think he will make an effort to change his life? Yes, and I think he is working on it
I say, get over it. Forgive and forget. Those dogs he killed ain't coming back, ever, they are dead. I guarantee he will never do this again, he isn't that stupid, I think he will try his best to change his life, because he doesn't want to end up in prison again, dropping the soap.

I'm not upset over it. I was talking about what you said in regards to killing somone. Thats why we have degrees of murder and plea bargains and a penal code. Until not too recently, alot of southern states justied a man killing another man messing with his wife. If two guys have a fight and one dies while falling it isnt 1st degree murder now is it? And how glad would you be with the Eagles if Vick had drowned Ginger and Parker?
