http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_12971518 The Republican misinformation campaign has gone to such an extreme that they have convinced their ignorant minions that the popular government Medicare program is not a government program. We all know that Medicare is a great medical program and we all know that it would be great to offer this as an option to everyone. But the insurance industry owned republican party have brainwashed you into thinking that Medicare is not a gov program!
"At a recent town-hall meeting, a man stood up and told Rep. Bob Inglis to "keep your government hands off my Medicare." The congressman, a Republican from South Carolina, tried to explain that Medicare is already a government program — but the voter, Inglis said, "wasn't having any of it." Republican misinformation campaign? The affiliation of the questioner wasn't mentioned but it clearly states that it was a Republican who clarified the point. Were you hoping that we would just read your post & not the actual article?? Let me ask you this again, since you seem to know so much about Obamacare: Can I opt out if I am satisfied with my current coverage? Where is the $$ coming from to pay for this fiasco? Will Obama & members of Congress have the exact same plan? Until they (or you) can answer these basic questions there will continue to be a lot of resistance.
How do you know that? I would think he is far left because he is so adament in protecting an entitlement.
And you know this how? You seem to be missing your own point- the guy was confronting a Republican congressman, right?
I know because of the statment itself. He is saying "keep your government hands..." and that indicates a dislike of government (come on now, did I really have to explain that?)
I read it as a left wing liberal loon railing against a Republican because he doesn't want an entitlement taken away. The "anti-government" crowd, as you call them, runs both to the right & left wing extremes....from the Timothy McVaighs on one side to the William Ayers on the other.
Left, right and outta sight. What is Medicare? Who uses it and how does one qualify? May be a teeny bit off subject but so be it. I've been seeing it in action lately in conjunction with the insurance industry. Interesting to say the least.
Medicare in itself was a great idea. Both my parents, and my inlaw parents are on it and my wife is soon to be eligable....the problem lies with the cost. It is running 8X over projected and promised budget, and it is as bankrupt as our social security. Like I said, does anything the feds propose and promise EVER run on budget? A Ponzi shcheme. the new pay for the old. Same with social security. In itself, it takes care of our elders, but will collapse soon. Then what? Thats as fair as it gets folks. Debunk that.
But it is a government run healthcare program, right? So lets get rid of it. If one is against government healthcare this program should be included. As well as the VA.
No craiga, you're wrong about the VA...it shouldn't be eliminated, we do have an obligation to care for our veterans. Perhaps, as a compromise, Obama could scale his scheme back a bit & only take over half of the healthcare industry. He can operate his half as he chooses and can offer whatever coverage he deems necessary at whatever price he sees fit. The other half can continue to operate as it has with the people actually choosing for themselves the type of coverage they want and the price they will pay for it. What would be wrong with giving the people the ability to choose whether they want to take responsibility for their own care or join the public plan or even opt out of insurance coverage all together? Say a city has 2 hospitals....1 would continue to operate as it is currently, business as usual, with an individual either providing their private insurance information or writing a check to pay for their care. The other hospital would be for those who opt to join Obamacare. What's wrong with giving people the option? Personally, I am pleased with my healthcare coverage, the price I pay for it & the care my family receives.
I agree. Always have. But I'm not with you on the VA thing. What is the difference between one government run health program and the other? How can one be for one form and not the other? And lets face it, Va care is not top notch. And it is usually geared towards those who cannot afford better treatment. That being said, a veteran is not any better a citizen than someone who chose a different path, but is still a stand up guy and a good American. And will you be pleased with your health plan as the price increases and the quality decreases?
I am employed with several VETS from the Nam and Gulf #1 era.....not one of them are happy with the care they receive. Alot of these guys end up in the aerospace field, mechanics, machinists, engineers, etc. NONE of them have anything good to say about the VA. I have a daughter in the Navy, I am scared to death for her.
