Shrinkage A word devised by a government bureaucrat for corruption. It matters not which side it is on, it exists. The average acceptable shrinkage is about 20% . That alone in medicare would take care of a lot of people. We do not owe health care to people who are here illegally. There is a significant number who are insured by a spouse who are counted as uninsured. Also a number do not take offered health care but renumeration instead. They then go to an emergency room for care when needed. Some who are independent contractors can afford insurance but are self insured. I would think that would make the number of uninsured lower then stated. Some one is very desperate to get into our pockets, way of life, and privacy for a start. Freedom of speech is next, as is every thing that the government would find to be harmful to you that you should not have. Kind of like to many nuclear above ground tests in Nevada oh that is their bad. The defoliating of Vietnam with agent orange. The Brown water navy made up of Marines sprayed this chemical that killed many after they returned home many years after. A decade or more in some cases. So you want to trust your health care to those who will even not admit to what they did to our Military ? One of the best models for many people is Kaiser Hospitals. After many attempts they can take care of all citizens. if you learn to take care of the small stuff, and take a responsiblity for how you conduct your life. To sign another blank check is really a bad choice !
Vess just to comment on part of what you said above (Highlighted) and something you said in another post I hate to say it Clembo but you said the first thing I was thinking. Greed did this. Greed at the very top. All that wealth had to go somewhere. It couldn't have all been consumed. It's likely in over-seas accounts owned by the CEOs and big banks. If this is the case then how come Obama gets the blame for it all, after all you have called him a Socialist? suerley what he is doing is trying to redress the imbalence?
Well, it's been over a week since this thread was started and the details are still clear as mud & Obama is still campaigning his tail off trying to get the measure pushed through (but still can't/won't tell us the cost or where the money to fund it is coming from). Anyone else getting concerned?
David do you think that healthcare, the way it is, is a good deal? Almost everyone agrees that the system in a country like The United States of America should be much better for its citizens. Do you agree that health care is messed up? I dont see anyone else at least trying to change it. Or even come up with an alternative. I dont like socialized medicine, and I dont think it will be beneficial for this country. But I give the guy applause for trying something new
My biggest concern is that the insurance lobby will bully America into keeping this terrible system they are using to destroy our lives.
They wouldn't do that would they? After all our best interests are on their minds constantly. You know, they're like good neighboors.
I'll tell you how private insurance destroyed my wife's life. Heart attack in July '07. We did not know it. Her left valve failed and filled her left lung up ith blood. She was diagnosed with severe Pnumonia by the family doctor and sent to the hospital in an ambulance. The ER doc saw what was actually happening. She was placed in intensive care for 1 week as they treated her " sepsis" ( a blood infection of the entire body ) so they could then operate. They did open heart surgery on the 7th day . 1 more week in intensive care as she would not wake up after surgery, then another week in the heart wing recovery center of the hosspital. Total bill, over $400,000. Total out of pocket, $1000.00 She was 60 time. Obamacare would have given her " death counceling". Also, ask RLM how private insurance wrecked his life by diagnosing and removing a cancerous lung in rocket speed. Obam care would have given him death counceling. Yep, insurance companies are wrecking our lives.
Perhaps a bit of exageration there Dan, but the O-plan does make it mandatory to get " end of life " counceling at age 62 and every 5 years thereafter. They figure once you have but a few tax paying years left, are you really worth saving? I am freaking out that the AARP is actually supporting this bill. For those with no insurance, it m,ight be an attractive package, but we all get older yannow? I'll take my Blue Cross anyday There is one great thing I like about it so far, and that ins companies can not bar you for pre-existing conditions.
The right wing are playing this issue really dishonestly, look at this: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/29/759254/-Late-afternoon-early-evening-open-thread
What is dishonest? It is clear as day. Section 1233, page 425 thru 430........ If this is not in the bill, please point out where I am wrong. Death councelling for the old, those who probably will require more money to keep alive than they will pay in taxes before their natural death. It is patriotic to die, after all you might deny children healthcare if you so selfishly choose to stay alive when you no longer contribute. One last thought.....HOw many Americans are flying to England for that Kick A health care? Oops, I forgot, they are flocking here to get real treatment arent they. I suppose a Monica will disagree and hide under the O desk, but the truth reaks. How many Americans leave America to get better health care? How many Senators and Represenatives will put their familys on the new O plan? Think about this folks. they are going to vote on and try to pass a bill they have not read nor would adhere to.
Actualy the number of tourist we get here who then suddenly become ill and require FREE hospital treatrment is very high, how many are American I honestly dont know but the standard of health care is very good here
Why so much. A great part of our costs go to sofisticated medical technology and equiptment. Up to thirty percent of all costs go to items like Cyber Knife , Gamma knife and other types of technology. These items are few and very expensive. Most of the world can not afford this type of equipment. This is just for cancer related tumors. Cyber knife works on any part of the body. For brain tumors total brain irradiation had been used with not real good long term efects at all. Think about the number of things we treat. Many can be treated with a good life style and diet. Some items do belong on the patients plate. Others are hereditary or caused from accidents. Home accidents are a leading problem for patients who are seniors. Medicare is fine along with an umbrella. What is not fine is that organized crime has made it pay for them. Rather then use resources in place for bill and follow up we just pay. What would be different. If we spend X of GDP for health care, and 20% is shrinkage ( Theft in billing ,corruption) fix what you have. Do not create a new bureaucracy to end up like the MASS. mess on a national scale. Technology costs for the best health care and quality of life. Corruption comes right off the top. This is a problem is not one that we can throw money at. It must be well thought out and all persons treated with equal diginity. To push this through would be a travisty, with money and no real plan other than more tax. Find out what will work ,no guessing . Mass. is a large scale example of a test that is deep in the red. If we change this must work to the satisfaction of American citizens. We always have time to fix things but never time to do them right to start with. Pep
Obama's personal Dr of 20 years has given his opinion of the O care plan. Hmmm, it seems he i against it ????? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...re-a-bitter-pill-for-his-personal-doctor.html
I like seeing the footage of the healthcare plan campaigners who refuse to answer when they are asked if they will accept this program for themselves & their family.
Ok I found it. WORLD NET DAILY!! http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=104719 that is about equal to Alex Jones (not that I am saying that either of those sources are not capable of telling the truth).
" he says... "The insurance companies will also play a major role in the administration of the new public plan'," he said "and that's going to be disastrous." " He said that it does not have ENOUGH government not that it has to much.
