Sounds like she is overreacting about another minor insult. I can find 1000's (literally) of photoshops of different politicians and yet they all let them slide, but not crazy lady, this is the only way she can get the national headlines.

 

I quite agree that Gov Palin herself is a legitimate target for humour etc but (and this is just my opinion) her children are not and specialy not a child with downs syndrome or any other such disability.
We went through this with Lettermans crass comments, but I suppose some people who just think it is ok to do this suffer from a distinct lack of taste.

 

As I recall she was the one that pimped them out on the campaign trail. Once you prostitute them out they are open to this stuff.

 

Pretty strong words Dan, " pimped" and " prostituted".

Would you choose those same words for the Obama girls? Was Obama " pimping " his wife when she planted her gardern or when they had their NYC trip and " date night" ? Was Obama " prostituting" his daughters when they played on the south lawn with the new puppy?

Why all the hatred for Palin? She is gone.

I do not recall any politician exploiting their family to the extent that she did. She held them up as a big "family values" type of family and it turned out that she was not "all that" after all.

 

Sorry Danr it is expected of a politician to display there family, if they dont then questions start been asked about why, whats the big secret! What she did was no different to what President Obama did with his kids, and I have to agree with Jack concerning your discription "Pimping" she will have followed party guidelines.
If you have never seen a family held up in this way I would sugest you have a look back a few years to the Kennedy clan
Have you ever heard a politician stand up and say hell I cant have my family on stage with me because they are a bunch of lying, hypocritical A Holes LOL or words to that effect? Of course not they all claim to have these absolut family values and be above moral reproche

the real kicker about this is that it is from a local Alaska blog. One or two thousand people would have seen this had she not made a big deal about it.

It happens to all of them in varying degrees. Some deserved and some not. Now as for Palin. I don't like, nor have I ever liked her.

However, there have been "attacks" on her in very poor taste. No I don't want to see this stuff happen to anyone be it Palin, Obama etc. Can't say I don't get a laugh at it at times honestly but sometimes it goes too far.

On the other hand Palin sets herself up for this stuff better than most. People take advantage of it and the more she brings it to light the more it will happen. An odd version of the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Like NO ONE has had anything bad to say about Obama? Get real now I see this stuff way to often in emails I don't even ask for. Construed as everything from a Muslim to a Nigger. Hear him whining about it?
Perhaps he's too busy trying to sort out the mess we're in or take over the world depending on your point of view. Point is he isn't whining about it.

Now to roughly address a few posts here.

Is she really "gone" Jack? If so why is she still being "attacked"? If she is "gone" why not just shut up and let it die? She may be a bit smarter than I thought. This crap keeps her alive if one really looks at it.
Goad a few "whacked out lefties" to keep this crap up and her name is still around.

To DanR. I have to agree with you on the "holier than though" sentiment. She went for the religious right with zeal. Good for her - or not. That's a move that can really burn your butt. Hers got burned.
Don't try and pass yourself off as Ozzie and Harriet if you're not. She would have probably done better if she said I have a typical, fairly dysfuntional American family. At least that's believable. If you really look at ANY family there are dysfunctional problems. Doesn't have to be immediate but they're somewhere.

Finally DeOrc. Yep, Kennedy had his kids in the limelight. One can certainly take the "kids" back much further than that. People have a curiosity about leaders and their kin and country. Would that be a fair assessment?

Difference now, in large part IMHO, is the internet. Look at so many Presidents, their spouses and children in the past. People wanted to know. There were pictures taken, then write ups in the newspaper and depending on the time frame it might get to you in a week or so.

Media got faster over time and so "news" spread faster. Anyone remember Amy Carter in Public School? It was a big deal but the internet was in it's infancy then. Hence, less and slower attacks.

Now we can take a picture, photoshop it and send it around the world in minutes from our homes!

The internet has changed everything. It seems everyone from plain folks to politicians seem to overlook this fact way too often.

They all need to wake up. We have access to so much more information as well as so much false BS. It's a matter of deciphering it.

 

Maybe I am a bit over the top, but she rubs me the wrong way (probably the way Republicans feel about Hillary). Some say that we lefties hate her because we fear her. I agree with that, the thought of Palin having real power does in fact scare me.

 

Maybe someone here will finally answer the question I have been asking for months now...why all the hostility towards Palin?
She has a track record of successful governing...her blue-collar, self reliant background is certainly something most people can relate to...she supports & advocates for a strong nuclear family...she's an outspoken advocate for life? Palin is the poster child for walking the walk when it comes to pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, doing the right things while making tough decisisons and making yourself into a successful human being.
She's a hypocrite because her teenage daughter for pregnant? Is that the best you can do? Really? Some of the best parents (and people) I know have had kids who make mistakes. You know what good people do? They support their kids, expect them to take responsibility & help others from making the same mistake. What is so wrong with that?
I know the libs hate her because she didn't abort her Downs baby or insist that her daughter do the same but c'mon. Pimp & prostitute? I dare you to name 1 single, solitary candidate who has not included their family on the national stage. It gives us an idea of who they are & where they come from.
All of this is merely a smoke screen to deflect heat away from some of the left's golden boys, such as Letterman, making the crudest of jokes at the expense of children.

Well I happent to like Gov Palin I thought she brought to life a campaign that otherwise would have been very one sided and that did scare certain elements of the political world. She was quite a unknown factor in what for so long has been a well worked out circus LOL
I also like a certain Mrs Clinton and would have much rather seen her in the White house than President Obama LOL
But attacks on the families is low to say the least if you cant come out with something good to use against the main contender why bother as all you end up doing is creating support for them.
I have to say I doubt if anyone hates her or her daughter for not having a abortion, there might have been those who would have if she had done so though.
