Anything to the rumour that Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter will switch his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat ?

I had not heard that but he is certainly old enough to be experiencing senility.

Oh come on! It was way too easy to pass up! lol

It is true, he admitted he could not win the GOP primary, thus the swap.

Hey, while your at it, take that McCain with ya;) hell, take all the RINO's with ya

With a turncoat crossing to his side of the aisle & Stuart Smalley being seated from Minnesota, Obama will have that super majority in the Senate he was hoping for. With this much power he shouldn't have any excuse for not getting his "initiatives" approved.

I don't see Specter "blindly" following Obama any more than McCain would (sorry Jack you can keep him).

Now I realize that politicians are vested in their parties but not sure about the use of the term turncoat.
Hell that would make me turncoats!;)

I've voted for three different parties and will continue to do so if necessary.

This is all about Specter keeping his job. He knew he couldn't win the Republican primary in Pennsyvlania, so he switched sides.

By my math, if he wins the term he's running for in 2010, he'll be in his late 80s by the time he finishes. What is it in the Senate chamber (besides interns) that makes people want to stay in the place until they die?

You said it! He switched sides so he could win again. Thats a TURNCOAT. Not being loyal to a party because of its beliefs and switching to it due to its popularity is vulgar. There should be a special election to see if he would win now. He's one of the guys who stood with the Philly Police death squads in the '70s.

I watched Specter make his rounds on the Sunday morning talk shows yesterday. I wonder, at 79 years old, is this how he wants to be remembered?

He won't be remembered. I didn't care about him before and care even less about him now.

I had to laugh at his one statement though. He said the main reason for the switch was because the republican party " just leans too hard to the right now." LOL!! What a joke. The republican party's whole problem the last several years is that they've lost their identity by not being far enough right. They've lost a base to the point where they feel Sarah Palin is the only one with balls enough and the principles to run in 2012.

I think the guy is going senile Stu. Or just plain coming up with excuses to retain a job. Term limits are needed so badly it makes me sick.

How did you have to laugh? Was it a chortle? Or more of a gaffaw? Or was it in your head? And the only guy who heard was the fellow in there, who tells you Obama is in office simply to get to you?
