    Okay,

First for Jack. Sorry about the Kumbaya remark but really HOW could I ipass it up?

Now seriously. Glad you didn't go off on a rant about the weakness, the meakness etc. because it may seem true to you but not to me.
Let me explain here. Sure there ARE many Libs (and even non-Libs I'm sure) that have taken it to this level.
I'm not one of them my friend.
If military force is necessary then it should absolutely be used. I don't want to see U.S. soldiers dying anywhere but it is, and has been, necessary. It's when it's not necessary that I have a problem with it. I believe there are many more in this line of thinking than many may actually realize.

Talking is the first, and most logical step, then let it continue when talks break down as they so often do.
Granted if someone attacks you first then there is no talking. Start firing back as long as you know WHO did it.

Flashback to 9/11. No one here knew me at all. I was NOT as much into politics and the views I had were much more on a conservative level. Cripes I voted for Bush!
My knee jerk reaction was that we needed to take a close look at Pakistan. Then Pakistan comes up with "hey you can use our air bases, we're you're buds etc.". Brilliant move on their part.
Well, to this day I don't think they're are buds and, although not to StuJoes extremes, we should have been concentrating a lot more on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Granted, Sadaam Hussein was a nut job and a half and needed to be taken out as he not onlly abused his own nation but had eyes on bigger prizes such as Kuwait.
I wish we'd blown his butt off the map the first time around.

Now as for continuing our mission there it's a waste of time, money and life. These folks have and will continue to fight for centuries. Their problem. Not ours. SJ pointed it out. We can't force freedom on anyone they have to fight for it themselves.
    Yeah, keep the oil flowing.

Not really and we have something to gain by normalizing relations. I'd love to see Cuba's econemony get stronger as ours does. Might see boats going the other way for a change.

Can't say I agree with the 99% figure but pulling a lot away would be fine. A great way to open up more "talks".

If its in our best interest? And if not, f%$k 'em? You do know that the conservative ''isle'' said the same thing about FDR from 1939 to 1942. That he was weak. They also said he wasnt doing enough for the country's economy between 1933 to 1940. Because someone before him put Chavez's name on some obsure terrorists list, you think it came down from Mt. Sinai for God's sake. I dont think Obama shouldve bowed to any world leader, seeing as he is thier equal. We dealt with Mao and Breznev and they hated America. Hell, De Gaulle hated Ameirca and we dealt with France. Since Cuba has nothing to offer we should ignore it. Nice. I couldnt have expected anything less from you.

It may not be 99% but most of our aid does not go to poor countries nor is it economic aid. A big part of it is military aid to places like Israel and Egypt...about 1/3 of all our aid goes to those 2.

Then there are the outright bribes to countries like Jordan and Pakistan which are also in the top 5 countries receiving aid. And the payoffs to the South American countries so they will pretend to take on a drug cartel once in a while. And that about rounds out the top 10 or so and the majority of our foreign aid.

And there is quite a bit of debate as to whether the real economic aid that the whole world gives out really does any good at all or whether it actually suppresses growth and the countries agricultural industry. I am not sure one country has ever gotten off of true economic aid.

If we had to give foreign aid to anyone, I would rather see it go to places like Cuba and Mexico than Pakistan and Egypt.

You have crossed the line with this comment...maybe you should give yourself one of those demerit thingys you are famous for.

    Yeah, pretty much.
Now the part you obviously don't understand is that there are a lot of things that happen in the world that concern us.
And by the way...I have not commented on Cuba so how in the world can you take exception to something I haven't said??? You sire, are brilliant!!

You dont know what you are talking about. When you write that we can talk to anyone; Doesnt that include cuba? I was commenting on the ''Only in our best interest.'' An I mentioned cuba because they really have nothing tangible to offer us. I'm guessing you put the same conditions on poeple too. You'll only talk to ,befriend, ally with someone who can do something for YOU.

It's not about "me" doofus, it's about "us" as a country. Try again.

You see, my problem is this. It was just said , backing it up with strength ( I paraphrase ). The same week Korea launched the BigLots missle, we announce elimination of our missle defense? Iran just announced it has nukes, we announce that we want to disarm and end nukes. Thats not how you play poker folks.

Applaud if O bowed to the pot bellied dog eater? C',mon, I know you dont mean that.

As for the " apology tour "......I am just glad O was able to go thru Europe apologising in English.....do you think Amerca had anything to do with that? Nah, we are to arrogant.

Chaves is not a threat? Have you checked how much oil we get from him? Hmmmmm

Read Chaves book !!!! It rocks, it bashes us as much as the far left does, so add it to the bookshelf next to the Saul Alinski book, and the William Aires book, it will fit right in.

How is that any different than Saudi Arabia? There is no way the Venezuelans are less free than the Saudis and there is no way Chavez is any more of a dictator or despot than the Saudi King.

And, IIRC, between the two countries, only one has ever enacted an oil embargo against us...and that country wasn't Venezuela. Which one is a more likely, actual threat? There is no reason for Venezuela having oil that makes them more of a threat to us than Saudi Arabia. And, we could much more easily go and get the oil from Venezuela.

Can you read? I never wrote it was about you. I wrote thats how YOU make friends by seeing whats in it for YOU. The same way you want America to court other countries, only if there is something in it for America. Get it now? I bet the mongoliods and the pinheads you so gallantly defend, caught on. Now read each line slowly and precisely, before you accuse me of calling you a pinhead. Because you are not. Pinheads are much more...forget it. But you are wrong. And man oh man do you hate it when you are wrong. And you hate anyone who tells you youre wrong. Everybody is wrong but you, huh? Only you know. So how many of those cant lose, sure fire, solutions you brag about writing to your politicians on how to save this country, how many have been put into use? Oh yea, none. Not because you are wrong, but because those tongue waggers dont know a good idea when it comes along. Even the guys you voted for. Oh I forgot; when you are called on them, they become ideas, notions, and theories. So predictable.

This statement reminds me of the old "....it depends on what the definition of "is" is...."

Still having a problem with letting our politicians know what we think, I see. Geesh, let it go man...you'll feel better. Most of us want to be involved but if you would rather not, that's okay- really it's your choice.

David you are the one who said his security detail should have taken Chevez down when he got close to the President and by that statement you showed just how much you cared about the personal well being of the President of the United States by openly sugesting that he should be placed in the fiering line, so I do believe what I said has a basis in fact you coudnt care less about his life.
Jack all you have to do is stop buying his oil, there are other countries in South America who have a abundence of the stuff have a look at Brazil :D Now as for the Nukes even Regan wanted rid of those :D As for getting rid of your missle defense system I have not seen any reports on that one over here do you have any links? As for Iran having Nukes again there has been no report of this

I would rather see us get as much oil as we can from Venezuela and any other South American country. Some day when we have hopefully decreased our dependence on oil, I would rather be getting what we need then from the Americas: North (Alaska, Canada), South (Venezuela, Brazil, etc) and Central (Mexico).

And, as far as a missile shield in Poland...no thanks. Lets build that along our coasts, Alaska, Hawaii, whatever if one is needed. I just don't see Poland as a real centrally located area to protect the US from missile attacks.

Once again you misread what is written. And once again you cant face the fact that you wrote that you had solutions. Great solutions. Solutions that would save the USA. And that you shared these solutions with those in government. So how come these solutions of yours arent in place? You must explain that to me, if you are going to keep trying to be witty. I feel great. Its you that seem to be so upset with the way things are. Alas, poor David. No one of power will take his advice. He is left to whittle away his panaceas in a chat room for coin enthusiasts.

That isn't what I said or what I meant.
In the past I have taken your posts for what they were worth...typically misguided and uninformed but with an occasional hint of sincerity. Your word twisting & clarivoyiance...heck, call it what is is: a vicious lie...on an issue as serious as the safety of our President demonstrates your shear hatred & stupidity. It also demonstrates that your status as moderator or administrator or whatever title that has been bestowed upon you is no indication of your maturity. There is definitely a double standard at play here. If anyone else here had made the accusations that you have they would have certainly been banned. I don't know, nor do I care, what scottishmoney did to get banned but I would hazard to guess it was something petty and didn't compare to being accused of wanting the President dead.
