By the way, I don't hate Obama...I don't hate anyone. I am opposed to Obama and belive that he is bad for our country.

If we want to get serious for a moment, I do honestly believe that Obama is trying to re-create our country socially, politically & economically. I do believe that he has the intentions of creating a 2 class society...the workers & the elite...and I do believe his vision is influenced by Socialist & Marxist ideology. I believe his goal is to create a society wherein the people have to rely on government for employment, healthcare, decision-making, etc. Once hooked, the people have no choice but to follow. The "elite" are the people that he chooses...some he selects, some (because of their wealth or power) simply become part of the elite because he needs them. This group of elites are the people who honestly think they know what is best for the rest of us & we are not capable of making our own decisions or taking care of ourselves...they think government can do a better job. They will tempt the masses with "freebies" and once the foothold is gained, they will gradually expand their infuence to all segments of our society.
Let the slings & arrows commence.

It kind of goes back to my comment about looking into past administrations and linking "elite" names to them. I wasn't really kidding.
If Obama wants to create an elite class and a lower class there's not that much work left to do. It's basically been done already. It's been going on for some time with different names and different faces.

What is "middle class" these days? $100,000? $200,000? I've heard enough people in this income level complain about how tough it is. If they have kids I understand. If not I say live within your means.
They don't see it that way. As "toys" become more expensive and one finds he can no longer afford the "toys" it's a problem. They're feeling the "pinch".

Now take the guy making 40K a year. He's been feeling the "pinch" for years. He's used to it.
Add these two groups together and the "middle class" as we know it is disappearing. You can either afford what you want or you can't. Many can't understand that.

Solution? Great, high risk mortgages, credit cards! They'll help you out while lining their own pockets any way they can. More money to the elite.
At this point the non elite are contributing to the elite through sheer stupidity in many cases and the elite are greedily sucking it up. Can't say I even blame the elite except for the fine print and questionable tactics at times.
Personally, I had a horrible year last year. My credit card balance is at zero. I DID use an interest free check to help me through the winter. It cost me 3% off the top and I paid it off in time.
To me a 3% loan was fair - I needed the "cushion". Now they've sent me more checks and guess what - the fine print now reads 4%. They figure they got me hooked. But I digress.

Now is Obama plotting to use all of this to turn us into a government controlled nation? I don't believe so. Healthcare is a sticking point though. We need it and SO many can't afford it. If it has to take on a socialist slant so be it. This problem did not occur overnight.
A healthy worker is much more productive than a sick worker and less likely to spread illness to the healthy workers.

Employment? Yeah it's tough and take what you can get. My wife is currently juggling two jobs. I'm doing the coin shop gig and have a side drywall and painting job coming soon. Looks to be a decent spring for us at least and we're working for it.
Don't underestimate Americans there David (and I know I'm guilty of it at times). When it gets tough people do find ways.

Decision making? Hell, many Americans threw in the towel on that one years ago when they started voting straight party no matter what. Not all Republicans are bad and neither are all Democrats. I do feel most have their own agendas in mind but just voting a straight ticket without knowing what is being said is beyond stupid.

So back to your thoughts I understand what you're saying at least. Can't say I totally agree but IF you're right we can still vote can't we? If Obama screws this country up even worse I'll vote against him. Hey, I might even call for impeachment. Wouldn't that be a turn?

Wouldnt someone who already has power consider themselves elite? I am sure those with extreme wealth dont think they are one with the hoi polloi. And what ''freebies'' are you talking about? You are quoting yourself? Weird. You think wealth and power make people elite. My slant on the elite has nothing to do with those two elements. I was going to write that I almost feel sorry for you. But then I realized, you arent to blame. You cant be the only one involved in your post. The crud you write here must be a collaboration with some other like minded people. I mean no one person can be so stupid. It has to be a group of you.

 

Hey, I was just correcting another of your mistakes. You mistakenly attributed a statement to me that I didn't make so I had to get you back on track. Geesh, I feel like a babysitter with you. If someone doesn't keep you focused you tend to get off on a tangent and begin arguing points that aren't at issue. I don't mind explaining things to you but do try to keep up.

 

The first post on page three of this thread has you as the person writing about elite and wealth and power. If its someone else's quote you should attribute it as such. Or is there another 'David' in this forum?
