Give him a break Clem, he thinks there are millions and millions of people up there in Alaska, in reality there are just about as many moose in Alaska as people.
Spoken like someone who gets their news from and has their opinions given to them by Keith Olberman and the late night comedy shows.
So she gets dismissed because of the population & racial make up of Alaska? That's just silly. Think about it, she's in her early 40's and has already risen through the ranks of local politics to the governorship of one of our states. She has served well enough along the way that she keeps getting promotoed. Not to mention she was a business owner, served on the Gas Commission and has a solid normal family life. Her popularity? What was it 80+%? That's strong in my book. So what if she stumbled on a couple of "gotcha" questions along the way. It only proved to me that she wasn't a manufactured candidate, rehearsing ines & memorizing facts so as to impress the likes of you guys. Everyone screams for change and when it's presented it to you you just want to ridicule it. Maybe so homespun common sense is what we need rather than politicians who waiver as the winds change direction. Was she ready to be Pres in '08, probbaly not but she was/is infinitely more qualified than Obama but you fell for the show & refused to look past the glitz. Was she ready to be VP in 08, I think so. 2012? We'll see. Here's a name for you in 2012- Mike Pence.
Yeah, let's not count Alaska...they're not as important as the other states, becasue of their population, are they? Let's just let California & New York dictate what happens in our country. Brilliant comment there!
Indeed the elections are decided in states like Californication and New York, and Florida. They are what matter now. States like my cr@ppy midwestern rust belt hell on earth matter not in this election, in fact the Obamanation totally ignored my state in the primary. Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton were the only candidates in the primary that thought my state mattered at all, and you saw how they both got sidelined.
I dunno David is it silly or realistic? I fell for the Obama show according to you. Well, you fell for the Palin show to me dude. She stumbled on a few "gotcha" questions? No they were just questions and if she couldn't handle those how will she be ready to handle the highest office in the land in 4 years? Racial? Yes, I'm afraid so in a realistic world David. You see it's different in the lower 48. This may not be popular but it's true. Hell, I'd love to have Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) as President if the whole country was Mayberry but it's not. Much bigger issues than Otis and Ernest T Bass. Great family? Hmmm.... I think the opposition could tear that one apart. Don't forget the rape victims. Charge them for the rape kits. As for being a manufactured candidate she most certainly was. McCain did not stand a chance. I remember very clearly how the reaction was when she was announced. Basically a lot of "wow she's hot". Well, I never fell for that and will admit I'm biased. Never thought she was that hot in the first place but that was what they were going for. Sure as hell wasn't her speaking skills or even remote knowledge of world affairs. She would have done MUCH better if they had taken more time to "manufacture" her. I'd also like to see where you got her "popularity" figures as well. It would provide a good argument to sell Alaska back to the Russians if it's true. We could eliminate our debt until we need the oil that they would undoubtedly exploit. She came down to the lower 48, made a fool of herself, got some nice clothes, became a grandmother, saw Russia from her porch and appeared on SNL (not in that order). I want her as my next President. Finally. Mike Pence. I'll Penceil it in. I have an eraser.
Wow..talk about your double standards. Obama answers questions with "above my paygrade" and "hey, what can I say?" and you give him a pass. Palin stumbles on some pretty obscure facts and she isn't qualified to be VP? It's great to see how opinion is formed by DNC operatives, liberal bloggers and the mass media!
I am telling you fools, Mary Carey should be the next president. She may be an airhead, but she is an honest one.
David you are a funny little man you know that? You pick one little thing out of my reply and run with it. That's fair enough it happens here fairly often. Yup Obama won where Palin wouldn't. That's really my point. She stumbled on obscure facts like the Bush Doctrine. The DNC, liberal bloggers and mass media. Geez David get off the paranoia train at some point. The right complained about the media because it wasn't totally right and they were losing - BIG TIME. I saw plenty of negative stuff about Obama and company David. It wasn't just your dilligent working that brought it out. For cripes sake will that ever sink into your head? It has been mentioned on SO many occasions that the Repos ran a bad campaign. Remember - the big "October surprise" that was so anticipated? What was it BTW? The Repos went for Obama's throat and it failed. The Dems didn't need to stoop so low and it worked. So much for past history (like Jeremiah Wright for instance). Let's say in 2012 Obama is the incumbent and he's running against (drum roll please) Sarah Palin. May as well forfeit the match - on the Palin side that is. Granted I don't like her and have not since day 1. Kinda like you and Obama actually David. He's the President David and as long as he's not having Clintonesque "cigar incidents" or messes it up even worse than Bush he'll stand a good chance. You'll still be screaming Jeremiah Wright and people will be saying "who?". Palin will have more dirt on her by then. She's working at it. She may be looking at some real problems with ethics a la Yahoo email. Yeah, this broad is brilliant! In short you'd have to come up with a better candidate than Palin IMHO. That is the point isn't it? I don't see it being Pence but at least you DID come up with another name.
It's funny that you say the Repubs went for the throat when in fact just the opposite is true- McCain's unwillingness to talk about Obama the person, the unqualified novice, the guy with all the questionable associatons & vague backstory is what cost him the election. Those of us that see Obama for what he is were screaming for McCain to "go for the throat" (which I translate as telling the truth & discussing his real shortcomings) much like Hilary did successfully albeit too late in the primaries. Comments, like you made about people forgetting Obama's past and his ties to Jeremiah Wright, are a sad commentary and exhibit perfectly what is going wrong with our country at the moment. For the record, I did not dislike Obama from the beginning. It was after listening to him that I figured out what he was all about...the lies, the anti-American leaonings, the questionable assoociations, the pandering, the changing positions & his reliance on his personality to win over so many unsuspecting dupes. By the way, you didn't address my reply at all, did you? Are you proud to call a man President when he gives those type of answers? What would have been your reaction if Palin had answered that way?
He wasnt president then David so now it woudnt be above his pay grade, and lets be honest here what is wrong with someone refusing to give a opinion on something when they feel they are not in possesion of all the facts? Perhaps that was why he said it. Oh sorry I forgot you are allready complaining about his daily briefings on the economy LOL
The only good candidates in the whole election process were steamrolled out very early in the primaries.
Gosh you are so right David. How silly of me to actually point out on occasion how people actually think. Yes that good ole McCain wouldn't go for his throat cuz if he did he'd be President. Umm... sure. Whether or not you care to admit it large portions of the media did just that and failed. Or are guys like Rush and BillO minor league players to you? Somehow I doubt that. Mainstream media went for his throat as well. For the record they went after Biden and Palin too. We tend to see the media as biased on all sides David but it really was there for people to see. You know David when it comes down to it I just point out reality and you can't handle it. Really, that's all I did in my comments about Jeremiah Wright and you just plain can't handle it dude. Sure, it might be a darn shame to you but if you're going to make any valid points here, or anywhere else, you have to find some new material. You're like a stand up comedian with no new lines. Perhaps you should use this one again. "It was after listening to him that I figured out what he was all about...the lies, the anti-American leaonings, the questionable assoociations, the pandering, the changing positions & his reliance on his personality to win over so many unsuspecting dupes." Man that's a classic. Start a thread about it. Oh wait, it's the same material you've been rehashing for months from "camp David". "By the way, you didn't address my reply at all, did you? Are you proud to call a man President when he gives those type of answers? What would have been your reaction if Palin had answered that way?" What was the question David? Was it this? " " If so he only proved he was smarter then she without having more information at hand. He did it better and I think he had an inkling of what the Bush Doctrine was. Doesn't matter what I say little Davey. You won't agree anyway. Your mind has been clamped shut for so long that bacteria can't survive. You're always right it seems. Only problem is you're still losing. Perhaps you should relocate. FOOTNOTE: For those that have been reading the thread is really about who will be the NEXT President of the USA. It may be obvious that I don't think it will be Sarah Palin.
McCain lost because he was a " wolf in sheeps clothing ", a RINO, a Republican In Name Only. Conservatism died with the like of Trent Lott bowing over after a fooked up Strom Thurmond comment ran ragged. You cannot poke your party in the eye for 7 years like McCain did, then expect them to back you hook line and sinker. McCain's mom herself has stated : " They will have to hold their nose and vote for John". Sorry momma, no we don't nor did we. Palin was a fresh conservative voice, we were desperate, we liked her, and she could in time become viable. Now? Not in a longshot. If conservatism is to have a chance, it will require a great candidate. I believe either Vess or Stu Joe had the right idea in another thread. Blue hair Washington insider types will not win for us, we need a fresh face and old ideas. Reaganism and a campaigner who can convey our thoughts and beliefs, AND do well in a TV interview with Catie Cupcake and Snarly Gibson. Untill then? I am content to ignore politics and go about my business of living and depending on me, not the Guv or the Guv programs. The Repos have taken a loyalist conservative and kicked me to the curb. Shame on them.
