Ok guy's lets get the ball rolling on this one, who will be the next President of the United States of America? We have two possible scenerios here :D

1 Obama does a great job in his first term and is unaposed in the Democratic party for a second term, so who would the Republicans see as there best shot at him (please dont say Dick Cheney we all know he is a bad shot :D )

2 Obama bombs, so who would be the Democratic nomination and who would be in the running for Republican nomination?

Please try to concentrate on the question and not if Santa is real or if the World is about to end LOL

Sarah Palin would like to be, but I think she burned her bridges in the GOP.

I have no idea who the Pubs will put up in 2012. It really is in disarray.

As far as the Dems, Obama is the choice unless he has some kind of huge scandal. Even if things don't go well in the first term, I don't see anyway anyone can seriously challenge him in 2012.

I have no idea as for the Dems, perhaps an up and coming Gov, or a popular senator.

The Repo's? They need to get back to Reaganism and Conservatism otherwise the party is dead. I'm an X repo. They are pissing me off.

Remember folks, Carter and the " Big Flop " of the 80's ushered in a wave of patriotism and conservatism that lasted 2 decades. Bush " F'ed" us. We conservatives really have no hero right now. Do we?

McCain? S$*^#iT, I hope he loses re-election in AZ.

Innaguration is 1 day old. Lets not get called for " offsides " violation yet. 4 years is a long time. Remember tho, the better O does, the better we do, lets wish him well, as long as the check and balances are in order. This could turn and give the Dems control of all 3 branches, and THAT would be risky business for all of us.

You're making way too much sense here Jack.:p Especially the "the better O does, the better we do" part. It takes a real man to say that you know.

As you are pissed off at the Repo party one of their "mouthpieces" really pissed me off with his assinine comments. Yes, it's Rush Limbaugh and his "I hope he fails" comment.

Now back to the question. I tend to agree with Stu Joe on Obama. I hope he does well but the mess we're in now may take longer than four years to repair. Hell, it took longer than that to get us here didn't it? Of course voters are fickle.

As for the Repos. Well it sure as hell won't be Sarah Palin. The Republican party needs to really regroup and hope captain lard butt gets his wish about Obama.

NOW if Obama fails and the Repos can't regroup maybe an Independent? To me that would not only be interesting but long overdue.

She is still running her trap attacking the media , a very silly move , last resort stuff.

Now we know it will not be Caroline Kennedy, since apparently as all Kennedy's do, she has a skeleton hidden in the closet. But, unlike the rest of the brood, she has wisely decided to keep it there and pull her hat out of contention for the senate seat.

She is just a very stupid person. What the hell was Mc thinking when he picked her? Did they really vet her?

The moronic dribble that come from you never ceases to amaze me. You rail against the typical-politician kind of candidates but when a normal person is presented you think she's stupid? Do you prefer the polished, rehearsed ones? If she thinks she's ready, she'll run in 2012. If the people think she's ready, she'll get elected. Simple as that.
Don't forget that stupid person can count successful, popular governor of a large state as one of her many accomplishments. You?

You flatulent fool, did it fail to sink into your imbecilic existence that she didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine was, or that she claimed she knew all about foreign policy because Alaska was next door to Russia? Hello, there is not really much that goes on up there betwixt Alaska and Russia, if you have ever crossed the Bering Strait as I have done you would know that.

Sure all of us were impressed by her when she came out on the national stage, she was comparatively young, attractive, etc. But then the truths came out; you know her neo rightwing nutjob church activities, claiming Alaska was going to be a haven during armageddon etc.

Has you failed to hear her mouth off lately? She is an idiot, but perhaps that is why she appeals to a pusillanimous and sniveling twerp like yourself.

A popular governor in a large state with a relatively low populace. I thought you were a Ron Paul guy

McCain was just so unpopular they had to bring in somebody to counter the popularity the Obama team presided over.
She was young , vaguely attractive , i believe it almost worked , just a pity she opened her mouth.
I dont think shes closed it yet.:(

Did you watch the whole interview last night or did the mainstream media just play that clip for you?

I know that you're the first one who always wants to make sure that we hear the full context of what was said from someone.

I did listen to the full interview and I understood what he was saying and agreed with Rush throughout the entire interview 100%.

He implied that there are some things Obama could do for the better (however unlikely those are) and in that sense he would hope he succeeds.

On the other hand, if he actually does everything he says he wants to do and ends up implementing socialism, then yes, he hopes he fails. Because socialism has failed around the world including here, dating back to the Pilgrims. He doesn't want to see us go back and repeat history with more costly, failed policies. No need for apologies.

Every word that came from Rush's mouth in that interview nailed the entire situation like nobody else could have explained it.

No, I don't agree with him 100% of the time. But in that particular interview I did.

No and she never will. They need to run far, far away from her and re-group. No more of these worthless moderates like Guliani, Romney, McCain. Weak. Pathetic. They arouse no passion from within the party. It's a loss every time.

Somebody needs to step up. Obama came from out of nowhere. Who's next?

Palin energised the conservative base like no one could at the moment. Laugh, namecall, whatever you choose, that just goes to show how hungry the REAL repos are for a hero, a leader.

McCain is a disgrace to this party, I have NEVER stood up for that guy, and hope to see him go in '10. AZ needs to primary that RINO and get a conservative in there, ala JD Hayworth or a Matt Salmon.

Ronald Reagan would B slap McCain were he alive today. Barry Goldwater is doing 360's right now.

John McCain. More disgraceful than Jimmy Carter, and thats pretty freakin disgraceful.

Getting back to the original topic, if the GOP is to survive, they need to find their Obama. It doesn't have to be an African American. It doesn't have to be a female. Why not learn a lesson from Obama?

What made Obama so successful in this victory? He didn't need experience, accomplishments, or a famous last name.
Plain and simple. It's passion! You can't fake it. Obama has it. For something. It may not be for the right things. He may genuinely want to help people but with flawed ideas. Whatever makes him tick, he has a drive that was unmatched by all the GOP candidates combined! He delivers the speech that everybody wants, brilliantly. He realistically connects with people. Something that 80 year old McCain (owner of 9 mansions) has a little trouble with for some reason.

Palin had a little in her. At least a glimmer. More than most of the others. That's why many people were thrilled with her and drawn to her. Because she had 'SOMETHING'. Some true convictions in her message. But she doesn't have anywhere near the full package that it's going to take to beat Obama.

Somebody's going to have to step up with some fire, some passion about their beliefs. We can't have a pretender. They've got to want it. They can't be afraid of being criticized or being called racist because it's going to happen. All that B.S. and non-sense should roll right off the driving force that this person should be.

Not to mention that this administration will undoubtedly create a bounty of mis-steps, failures and ineptitude over 4 years to be put in the spot light in 2012. Hopefully somebody won't be afraid to shine that spotlight when the time comes. People have short term memories. Somebody should be keeping a diary from day 1.

They've seen that playing nice doesn't work. Being on the defensive doesn't work. Moderates don't work. Cute little brunettes as running mates doesn't work. So maybe it's time to figure out what did work.

It's going to take a young candidate with a lot of enthusiasm that's going to match up with Obama. Obama's got the luxury of dealing with whatever he's dealt, in so many different ways as the future unfolds that it could be a very daunting task preventing him from automatically getting the second term.

If things go great, it's all on him. "He was the savior after all."

If things go badly... well, Bush set up the poor black man for failure so we can't blame him. "He just needs another 4 years." People get comfortable with somebody and they don't want to change. I can see either scenario playing out.

Can you guys imagine a lame duck Obama term? LOL! The only thing scarier than 4 years of Obama is 8.

Anybody want to take bets on whether we'll see the Amero by 2016 out of necessity? Obama's got to be exactly what the globalist, collectivists wanted. Hello UN. What can we do for you?

I still think Palin was the Republican Obama. Lots of style but very little substance. The big difference was the press loathed her while they loved Obama.

Acreage means nothing David. Population does and not just a bunch of whiteys.

She came down to the "real" US as it were and made a fool of herself. Hell, the Dems never really even attacked her stupidity. She did it on her own.

Do you think that (and her continuing rants) wouldn't be brought up if she was campaigning for head honcho?

I will admit, I loathed Ronald Reagan when he was president, but damn, when you reflect on his presidency some 20 years after it ended - you cannot help but believe he was the last "real" president we had. The old boy could give speeches that were warm and seemingly heartfelt. You sure cannot say that for any of these doffers we have had ever since.

Barry Goldwater was such a conservative in his day, he actually turned people off, but today we would think he was fairly liberal socially - all the while with government he was very conservative.

I think you hit the nail on the head, the liberals and conservatives these days have f***ed out and morphed into these neo indeterminate fools that are neither conservative or liberal. The best situation is to have clear and distinct political differences of opin, and that does not happen now. So Bill Clinton becomes somewhat conservative while in the Wh*re, whoops I mean White house, then Bush has these stupid liberal thinking streaks like the bailouts last year.
