The LaHoods are a political power in my old hometown. They used to own a pizza joint too that was really good but I think it has closed down.

Yeah. McCain had an "(R)" by his name too. Illinois has very few, real republicans and I highly doubt Obama would pick one. Sorry, but your post doesn't have the impact you thought it would.

Now for some context: Sorry DeOrc

"LaHood received a 0% rating from the conservative and anti-earmark Club for Growth 2007 RePORK Card.[7] He received an 11% rating from Citizens Against Government Waste for 2007 and holds a lifetime 49% rating from the group. [8]

On July 26, 2007, LaHood stated he would not seek re-election in 2008 and would retire when his current term expires in January 2009.[9] (Ah, so it was time to find the next government position to collect a pay check at!)

Lahood's son, Sam Lahood, worked on John McCain's presidential campaign in 2008. Oh, boy, he just screams conservatism now!

On December 19, 2008, President-elect Barack Obama announced he will nominate U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood to be the next Transportation Secretary. This makes him one of two Republican members of President-elect Barack Obama's Cabinet along with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who is a registered independent but has publicly referred to himself as a Republican.

LaHood's resume on transport matters was seen as thin (IMAGINE THAT!) by some critics. He does not currently serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, although he has in the past. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee he did not work on transportation funding.[10] While picking LaHood drew praise for its bipartisan symbolism there was also a sense that LaHood’s lack of expertise would diminish the department’s role in 2009 major policy debates and leave him as more of a ceremonial figure.

What is it you were trying to prove again?????

So obviously, this wasn't a random pick or somebody that Obama felt was best qualified for the job!

That leaves this appointment as what looks to be another high paid political favor that Obama owed someone. Bravo. Bravo! The people don't win, again.

Let me ask just one simple question and a simple yes or no answer will be enough
Are LaHood (R-Ill.) and Sec Def Gates both members of the Republican Party?

    vess1 "Birds of a feather...."

A yes or no answer isn't enough. One says he is the other is an independent and claims to be. Did you read what I posted? Do you think this really makes Obama a bi-partisan now?! That's all it takes for you?

The LaHood pick means nothing. Since he appears to be unqualified, it was likely a political favor to him or someone else and in the mean time appeases people trying to defend him by making LaHood a "ceremonial figure". Kills two birds with one stone for Obama. It proves absolutely nothing.

See you can not even answer a simple question so once again
Are they or are they not members of the Republican party?
So is Gates a Nobody as well?? LOL you realy can not take it can you that President Elect Obama is not picking the Rabid Libral left wing communists that you and David predicted :D
Unlike you I actualy do read what you post, if you botherd to read my Posts I have said time and time again I woud never have voted for the man but unlike you had it been my election and my candidate that had lost I woudnt spend the next few months whining about it.
How many Democrats did President Bush have in Major roles in his first administration?
What has he not been blamed for by you on the Ultra right of the Republican party hell lets call them what they are Facists. We have David calling for the mans Impeachment before he is even sworn into office LOL and blaming him for the economic downturn (Yet fails to praise him every time wall st rallies)
Come on admit it you hate the fact that the man is appearing more and more to be a moderate and not the evil traitor to the USA that he has been portrayed as.

I am calling for his impeachment on the grounds that he conspired to defraud the electorate & prepetrated a scam on uniformed voters. He took advantage of the exact same people he promised to protect. Fraud, sham, scam, whatever you want to call it.
Apparently some people are starting to wake up to the farce. The attendance at the coronation was originally projected to be 5 million or more but estimates have now been lowered to about 2 million, which is a little below average for a Presidential inauguration.
What are the rest of you waiting for??? WAKE UP!!!!!

The guy tries to pass himself of as Superman when it's just rhetoric but as soon as decisive action or a plan is needed he retreats right back to a Clark Kent persona & attempts to lower expectations for himself.

LOL PROVE IT then take that proof to court, oh but of course you cant do that can you as the Courts like the news media and the rest of the world are all conspiering on his behalf to stop good patriotic Americans like you from saving the country LOL Sour Grapes is all it is :p

I agree with David. Obama has really screwed this country up over the last 7 weeks of his Presidency-elect (President-electcy?). He is absolutely the worst President-elect we have ever had.

He has not signed one bill, nor even veto'd one bill. Not a single one. Think about that! He has not issued a single executive order. No treaties, no trade agreements, Nothing!

All he does put people in cabinet positions and set up his administration. That is not what he should be doing! He should be governing like every other President-elect has done. Useless, I tell you!

And he hasn't even moved into the Whitehouse yet! What the heck is he waiting for? Christmas?!?!?! Move in already!

And might I remind you that he quit his Senate seat? He is a Quitter!!!!! A dam Quitter!

We need to invoke that article of the Constitution where we get to have a do-over election. I can't remember which article that is but I am sure it is in there somewhere!!
