The Demise Of Illinois

Illinois has apparently replaced Louisiana as a state of corruption. Louisianans recently voted in a Vietnamese American to the senate, choosing him over a corrupt and indicted William Jefferson.

Good going Illinois, you are scraping the bottom of the barrel. While Louisiana becomes more "normal" for a change. Louisiana was the place that brought us Huey P. Long, and David Duke - the KKK grand whizzer that made a serious run for governor. Several politicians there have been indicted. But that seems to becoming a past issue.

However, poor Illinois, aka "Land of Lincoln", in the last 35 years 4 governors have been arrested, three so far have served prison time. Including the just previous governor. If the current guy is convicted, shame on you Illinois.

Lincoln would soil his breeches if he were alive today.

 

LOL. And we just put an Ill politician in the white house! Oh my!

 

Most of the state has known about Blaggyvitch for quite a while. His approval rating was at 4% before this even happened. Yes, 4 as in F-O-U-R!. I am almost positive I have made reference to him here. I wonder if the Feds just waited to get their wire taps and such until he had a big enough prize in his hands.

We have tried Republicans and Democrats and had no success. Maybe we will get smart and try something else. But, I doubt it. 2002 we had a Libertarian on the ticket and in 2006, we had a Green. Just can't get a lot of consistent support for third parties in Illinois. Maybe this can help.

 

I thought that was normal for Crook County IL ???? Selling seats and buying votes go hand in hand.

I don't even think Daley (The J Version) would have been bold (or dumb) enough to try and sell a Senate seat. lol

 

Having read a considerable portion of the charges, it doesn't appear to look good for him defense wise. Just as fargin' dumb as OJ Simpson. Commit a felony and do it on tape.

They remind me of these stupid teenagers that go around with video cameras and record themselves burning gazebos, blowing up mailboxes etc. They boldly believe they will never get caught. Then somehow the tape gets out.

 

He must have been the only one in the state who didn't think the feds were taping him. I think one of the Chicago papers reported a few days or maybe longer back that the Feds were taping him. He had his Gary Hart Moment and said anyone was welcome to tape him any time. lol

 

Might have gone alot smoother if he had just put the seat up on Ebay !!

 

This should be on every potential politicians mind before ever running...

 

Having Chicago news on TV all of my life I have to say this one was bad even for Illinois!

Seriously (kind of) we watched the press conference at work today and were in disbelief of the arrogance and stupidity shown on his part. Yes, other Illinois governors have been tossed in jail but he set a new low. He was arrested while IN office.

If you're going to sell a seat to the highest bidder as he planned why not just put it up on ebay?

 

The ironic thing is that the Federal prosecutor President-elect Obama wanted to get rid of was Chicago's. Now he can't without raising HUGE ethics issues. Too funny!

 

Bingo!! Yes, most of the state has known how rotten he is!! The last I heard, his approval rating was at 9%. But that was a month ago. No more business as usual!? No, not at all. There's been more corruption than we've EVER had in this state.

And why was he elected to a second term!!!!?? The million dollar question. I'll tell you why! Because everybody in this G.D. state is too lazy to get off their sorry ASSES and VOTE!!

I watched the last election intently, hoping for something....ANYTHING else.

Who voted? 22% of the population did. 22%. Period.

Topinka got 1.4 million votes, Blago 1.5 million and that was the election. He won with 49% of the vote and our stupid ass news stations still had the gull to call it a friggin landslide! Ignorant.

And yeah, he somehow carried the southern counties and that put him over the top. Now everybody that voted for him looks like a bunch of retards.

I knew things were bad. But I had NO idea they were this bad. No idea. The arrogance of this guy is absolutely astonishing! And now he says he refuses to step down as governor! He could be the most arrogant human being I've ever seen. Hell, his wife is as fowl mouthed and rotten as he is. What a disgrace! What a criminal. Lock him up, throw away the key!

Maybe we'll get somebody with some ethical standards by *accident* next time. *Hopefully*. Because the people that live here are too stupid to do any research or follow anything that they think doesn't affect them. We need reform, badly. People need to learn that you can't just fill in the dot for the guy who has the D by his name because that's what your friggin parents did!!!!!!!!!

Anybody that had a sign in their yard should be embarrassed for being such fools. I could understand the first time. I'll cut you some slack. Second time. No way! This is what you got us. Now lets look like fools on a national stage.

 

Yeah, I can agree with that. He has been a smart enough criminal to simply keep his mouth shut and not get caught. Such an easy thing to do. You and your father don't just hang on to the position for FOUR.... DECADES.... (while being hated by so many for his strong arming, bullying and baby fit temper tantrums), by risking those conversations over the phone!

There isn't a human being alive who could beat old Dick in a Chicago election! If you even want to call it that. I think they should just call him King Dailey.

 

I think it was 4% back in October. I remember reading it because it was like the lowest approval rating ever for anyone. I am not surprised it was at 9% recently. An approval rating of 4% is probably about the margin of error! lol

And, even though I followed the stories around him, reading the charges today shocked even me. I mean really. It's downright unbelievable. There are dictators in third world countries who are that bold and arrogant in their corruption.

 

What is really fun is hearing of his aspirations to perhaps run for president in 2012. Tricky Dick comes back from the grave.

 

No, no, no!! He didn't want to run in 2012! It was a given to him that Obama will automatically serve two terms! He was giving him that.
He was actually eyeing 2016 from what I've heard. LOL!! That's how arrogant, greedy and power hungry he really is.

Obama has kept quiet. I guess we can only hope that he's a notch above this. If 'just' a notch.

 

Yeah, I heard that too. lol Or an ambassador or Senator or maybe Dept Of Energy (I think it was) because 'you can make real money there'.

The sad part is, what you're hearing is absolutely just the tip of the iceberg. There hasn't even been enough time for it all to come out yet. And they aren't even going to touch on all the little things he's done. All the stuff nobody knows about.

Such as NEVER living in the governor's mansion. Abusing the state jet for transportation so he didn't have to live in Springfield. Between 100-200k a trip are the numbers I've heard thrown around. (In a state that's broke.)

First governor in state history to not have a daily schedule. I've heard from many sources that on most days, "nobody even knows where the man is at."

One day they shut down a state highway project for the day so the Blago caravan wouldn't have to be delayed when they drove through!! LOL!

He wants to sell the lottery. Pensions still being robbed. Every fund is diverted to go to something else. He's robbed more road funds than any governor in state history. He wants to close all our parks and historical sites. Many already shuttered with little or no warning to the public coming to visit.

The $5.50 habitat stamp you pay for on hunting licences.... you think it goes to habitat anymore?? Noooo!! No, of course not. Every dime of that money is funneled into a heroin clinic in Chicago now!

Central management systems has been turned into a huge debacle which leases out people and equipment, at enormous cost to other state agencies, then diverts their funds back into the black hole of the general fund! Insane policy.

The guy that drove a bus for his campaign was rewarded with an appointment to the IL board of education. Never had worked in education a day in his life.

Not to mention playing games with the state legislature at budget time and being unable to pass one by the time they're legally obligated to anymore. Not even on speaking terms with the house speaker the majority of the time!

And guess what? All this was OKAY!! Until these wire taps went public today. It's no wonder he sports a single digit approval rating. What's amazing to me is, in order to get an approval rating that low, many of the people interviewed had to have either not voted or voted for him. And now they want to bitch for 4 years.
