Apparently all those who voted for him and most sane people who did not vote for him disagree with that really extreme way of misframing events. There are an odd group out there who still buy that perspective (they are probably the 20% who still support Bush)

 

Now this post is hilarious!! Danr can use Ayer's word as gospel when it fits his story, now you join in and say he's not a credible source? You guys want to get together by PM and maybe straighten that issue out before we discuss Ayers anymore? We need to know which we're going to go with before we discuss the Ayers Obama relationship any further.

 

If you want the truth about the bombings he talks a lot about it in the linked interview. You may disagree with him but they went out of their way to make sure no one got hurt.

 

Her danr, if Ayers isn't a bad guy as you assert, why does Obama still try to distance himself from the guy? Why doesn't Obama defend him? I never heard Obama say anything about the guy except that he rejected his acts of terrorism. I sure would like to have been a fly on the wall during Ayers little tea/coming out party for Obama. I wonder if it was videoed?????

 

Distance himself? he was never that close to the guy. Listen to that interview (you have a misconception of the guy, he is a serious person in the field of education).

It has always been my belief (and that of most Americans) that most of our lousy, liberal, college professors like Ayers, indoctrinating our youth with absolute non-sense, idealistic views, should be tossed out in the street like the garbage they are and replaced. Then they could live on welfare the rest of their lives because they couldn't make it in any other sector.

 

Sure he did. But intelligent people know that with his sort of speaking schedule (probably 4 or 5 times as rigorous as McCain's) that bad info slips out.
For a group that complains about "gotcha" tactics you sure do not mind using them.

Listen to the interview. His thing is to bring opportunities to be creative to impoverished kids. It has NOTHING to do with politics it is just a good idea. He has done a lot of good. I am pretty sure that he does not have to work, he comes from a wealthy family. You are way off base with this guy.

 

Why do you believe that Ayers introduced Obama to politics? Because Ayers said so? I thought he was a criminal. And criminals cant be trusted. Tell the truth..you never even heard of Ayers until this election.

 

I never heard of Sarah Palin until this election. I think I remember Joe The Plumber from when my toilet was backed up during the 2004 election, though.

 

Thats my point. In six weeks no one will remember Palin. Like Muskee she'll fade away. I've heard of the weather underground. But I didnt know the names of its members. Jeez I hope in six weeks I dont hear about Ayers anymore either.

 

I kinda hope he is still the main topic 6 months from now. That will mean Obama has either done some really good things or hasn't screwed anything up badly enough for it to be an issue.

 

Danr I have to ask did Ayers actualy make bombs? If the answere is yes then the man is not a simple protestor, he proffeses to have been a anti Vietnam war protester yet decided to use violence to gain his goal? It makes no difference if those places he and others targeted were (Shall we say) empty, there was no way they could guarentee that no one would be injured, maimed or killed by there actions. He and his co conspiritors are in my view on the same level as the Red Brigade, IRA, Bada Minhoff, Red Army etc simply Terrorists.

 

Check that interview for the context. There are facts that make his activities different from the IRA (for instance).

Danr he says that even though they did plant bombs it was not terrorism!! Please explain the difference for me if you can, I have said this earlier but when you plant a bomb you have no controll over the effects of that device, why do you think they planted them? They bombed the Pentagon now that is not a empty building is it, not at any time of day or night.
I am sorry but there is no other name for what he did other than Terrorism.
I dont question his believe in the anti war movement or his believe in civil rights, I also doubt very much if he has any real effect on Obama but I do not subscribe to the notion that he is a innocent
