John McCain has voted with President Bush over ninety percent of the time. He voted with Bush higher than most of his colleagues. Since he voted with Bush that much, that means that he'll run this country just like Bush has.

Bush spends ten billion a month in Iraq while our own economy struggles and McCain plans to do the same. Do you want your tax dollars to be used to continue funding the war? No, I don't think you do. Our economy stinks and we can't afford another four years of this.

And Obama voted liberal 95% or the time - the most in congress. So?

Actually Obama voted along party lines 96-97% of the time.

McCain voted with Bush 90% of all votes, or 90% of certain subjects?

According to Congressional Quarterly's Voting Studies, in 2007 McCain voted in line with the president's position 95 percent of the time – the highest percentage rate for McCain since Bush took office – and voted in line with his party 90 percent of the time. However, McCain's support of President Bush's position has been as low as 77 percent (in 2005), and his support for his party's position has been as low as 67 percent (2001).

    ...

Also, Obama voted in line with fellow Senate Democrats 97 percent of the time in 2007 and 2005, and 96 percent of the time in 2006, according to CQ.

But we CAN afford MAYBE the Iraq war continuing as usual (didn't we put all these democrats in, in 06 to put an end to it?), a trillion in brand new spending, and 95% of Americans getting tax cuts, of which 40% don't pay taxes to begin with?

Ummm, you must have only caught the parts you wanted to hear.:(

Once again a missinterpretation he said 95% of all working Americans would benifit! So now the continuance of the Iraq war is the fault of the Democrats!!! I was under the impression that Obama and the Dems were campaigning to get the troops out and McCain to continue the war as long as it took.

He has actually said it both ways. 95% of Americans and 95% of working Americans.

    From the Brokaw Debate:

"And that's why, for example, on tax policy, what I want to do is provide a middle class tax cut to 95 percent of working Americans, those who are working two jobs, people who are not spending enough time with their kids, because they are struggling to make ends meet."

    and later

"So let's be clear about my tax plan and Sen. McCain's, because we're not going to be able to deal with entitlements unless we understand the revenues coming in. I want to provide a tax cut for 95 percent of Americans, 95 percent."

But, still, I would be surprised if 95% of working Americans pay taxes right now when you consider earned income credits, child credits, etc.

Um Stu again it should have been put in its fuller context

So let's be clear about my tax plan and Senator McCain's, because we're not going to be able to deal with entitlements unless we understand the revenues coming in. I want to provide a tax cut for 95 percent of Americans, 95 percent.

If you make less than a quarter of a million dollars a year, you will not see a single dime of your taxes go up. If you make $200,000 a year or less, your taxes will go down.

As you can see from that he is still talking about working Americans unless of course those who do not work make that sort of money?

Obama can promise that he'll turn water in to wine too. Getting it done is going to be a whole other story. I have a sneaking suspicion that the people who are profiting from this war/occupation, are going to want to continue it. Obama may not have a say in it whatsoever. So maybe we'll see if he can truly full-fil that promise. Remember, I'm not good at taking politicians on their word alone.

Where were you in 2006? The democrat tickets were extremely successful, and they gained back a lot of ground from what once was a substantial republican majority. All on what have so far been, a bunch of empty promises. As stated here by this poster from another forum. Here's a C&P on how he feels about it:

"I can justify voting republican. Now, before I begin, I will say that I am pretty much a leftist. I am FOR universal healthcare, I am FOR higher taxes for the companies who are off shoring and do not produce products in USA. I am against NAFTA or any other such agreement, I am FOR taxing of the imports, to insure that they do not undercut prices. I am FOR free education. I am also PRO CHOICE. I am also AGAINST illegal immigration (and FOR severely limiting immigration into the country) I am ANTI WELFARE, anti-affirmative action, anti gay and pro gun. So, I am independant, and vote for person rather then for party. I voted for Ron Paul in primaries, and for John Edwards in last elections.
However this election I will be voting Republican across the board.
Why? Because, the democrats promised us everything should they get majority in Congress: end Iraq war, end the corruption in Congress, investigate all the lies that Bush and Chaney gave us, to pass campaign reform law, most of all they called the Patriot act, a step to Fascism (which it is) and promised to get rid of it (which they didn't). They promised us EVERYTHING. They delivered NOTHING. I am still waiting for universal healthcare, tax breaks for people in my tax bracket ($100000 and below per family), I am still waiting for Patriot act to be canceled, I am still waiting for free State Colleges and Universities for me and my family. I am still waiting for insurance and pharmaceutical companies to be reigned in and tightly controlled, to stop their ripoffs. I got NOTHING.
So, I am saying a hearty FRAG YOU to democrates and progressives.
Yes, if Nader or someone else had a chance of being elected, I would vote for him. Democrates done NOTHING from what they promised, so I am NOT voting for them. Now this is before we start on that slimeball Barak Obama. Just so you know, Barrak means "posessed by spirit" in arabic."

Well lets see I was were I am now London, it still dont change anything this is what the man said, as to how many of his promises he keeps I have no idea but I realy do not like seeing things taken out of context and twisted, have a go at Obama by all means but at least try to keep the argument honest.
Time and time again I have seen statement saying OBAMA SAYS THIS OR THAT but when you actualy check it out he never did or at least not in the context portryed.
We are only too happy to accuse our politicians of lies and spin yet we ourselfs are ok at doing it for our own ends LOL

Once again here is the spin, these comments were made by another person and not Obama yet they are attributed to him LOL

From the same report, you forget this part David?

There's no indication that Obama has changed his tax policy, which states that anyone making under $200,000 would get a tax cut under his administration, and nobody making under $250,000 would be hit with a tax increase. Richardson actually recited that part of Obama's plan correctly earlier in his radio interview.

I haven;t actually read his plan (I take specific tax plans with a huge grain of salt) so I am not sure what he actually means. My guess is it is one of those numbers that sounds good and is technically right if figured in one way but figured a different way would give a different percentage. The whole figures lie, liars figure thing. lol

Then why are you so interested in this? IMO, your voice here should practically be drowned out by all the Obama supporters in this forum, from this country, attacking me over all the "vicious lies" and hate I'm spreading. Since they're not, it leads me to believe that his support really isn't all that strong but for the most part, people fear a McCain administration after Bush and are now willing to accept ANYTHING they're offered.

There should be 10 people attacking me on a daily basis, refuting what David or I say. So far it's been you, me, Stu Joe trying to keep it even and Toad throws his strong beliefs and opinions in once in a while. I was hoping the forum would be a little more active.

You probably don't get a chance to listen to U.S. radio stations over there but I do. I have heard from separate people on separate stations that the supposed income level proposed is moving around a bit now and the last I heard it was down to 150,000 now. I'm not making it up. I don't really care what they say about it. I don't expect to see any tax break or any wonderful programs being proposed benefiting me.

It's easy for people who don't understand what it really means to be an American to chime in and support/defend/apologize for Obama...what do they have to lose? They have no concept of the freedoms & way of life we have at stake with this election.

Actualy I can listen to just about any radio station in the US that brodcasts on line, as for why I am interested in the US elections well it has a profound effect on the entire world.
Now I want to get one thing absolutly clear here, I have never attacked a single person for having a go at Obama, not once.
I have though attacked those who put up statements that are lies or just plain wrong.
Statements they have taken as gospel without checking the truth of them.
If you can not resolve a argument without resorting to outright lies and such then in my opinion you dont have much of a argument.
No possibly I dont realy understand what it is to be a American any more than you would understand what it means to be British but that dont mean that I dont understand the meaning of the word freedom and also of the words fair play, which I am sorry to say you just dont seem to get.
Time and time again I have said I personaly woudnt vote for Obama simply because I dont trust someone who smiles so easily, now having said that I will not stand by and watch people spin the truth on the man, that is my concept of freedom and fairness. perhaps you dont agree with been fair LOL
