A good ol' dose of morality doesn't hurt!!!

 

I took the time to watch the video David and did find it interersting.

As a devout Catholic I'm sure you loved it and I have no problem with that.
It doesn't tell one who to vote for nor could it really. Church and state need to be kept separate.

Of course with the overall theme of right to life it's pretty obvious who the Church is leaning toward. I have no problem with that either honestly.

That aside here's my real question/point. Of the 67 million Catholics in the U.S. (as the video says and I don't doubt it) how many will see, interpret and act on this message? How many are as devout as you are?

I have friends of all denominations and faiths. Many are "casual" worshippers shall I say?
They drift away, break the rules of the church and form their own opinions.

It may be a dose of morality but there's a lot more morality to be explored on all sides.

 

I watched it until they showed John F. Kennedy, you know, that harbinger of moral living. He is quite possibly the only other President that could have likely outdid philandering Bill Clinton for extramarital affairs. I guess the Catholic Church forgives that?

Oh puhleez Unlike Mr. Work, I have actually spent a good amount of time in said institution, and can be more objective of my opin of said institutional religious affiliation.

 

I think both Frank Zapa and Billy Joel sang about Catholic girls and for some reason I heard that porn videos have actresses in catholic girl outfits but I didn't see any of that in the video or hear it as background music so I was disappointed,

 

Sure the Catholic Church forgives sins...a basic tenet of the Church, didn't you know that?
Also, the Church isn't going to pay as much attention to the tabloid rumors as you do.

So you guys are surprised the Catholic Church puts out an anti-abortion video and it forgives a sinner his sins? Is that what I'm hearing?

 

Not at all...I dont think I have ever said that...of course they forgive sins, if they didnt then they would lose followers and thats the #1 concern...less followers means less money and power.

 

They have to forgive the sinners, Lord knows there are quite a few of them in the priesthood that molested little boys and girls. How can they cast stones when they live in the glass house?

 

Not only molesting children but the church itself covered them up...heavy repeat offenders...and simply moved them around.

And certainly birth control is no good, a large amount of catholics are from the so called third world, why would you want to teach a person who cant afford to feed themselves, let alone 9 children, how NOT to have a child.

I saw a south park episode that was just crazy. It had priest gathering together to discuss how to deal with the problems the church is facing because of so many priest having sex with young boys. The good priest gets up and commends them for trying to fix the problem...he is soon corrected by a priest who says the PROBLEM is how to better cover up the fact that they are having sex with little boys

 

I am not anti-Catholic, I hope the OP appreciates that. I don't sit around and condemn everybody, or even anybody to hell, since I am not worthy of so lofty an aspiration.

I just believe that any religion that went off on a deliberate programme of malfeasance and cover-up needs to be called to the carpet for it.

And besides OP, I can think of far more worthy Catholics, ie Mother Theresa, that are worthy of being seen in a video promoting their agendas. Someone whose whole political career was consecrated in sin, and possible forgiveness is not. Jack Kennedy was no Mother Theresa or St. Francis of Assisi.

 

Frankly when Catholics through Engaged Encounter, birth control is a very very testy subject. And most Catholics know that Natural Family Planning, better known by it's initials, NFP, NFP in reality stands for No *insert expletive here* Protection.

 

Jesus Christ, we have war, a falling economy and all this other stuff and were messing with the abortion issue...

David, as stated before, we need to be pro choice....not pro life. Unless you care to prove that souls exist? I have been waiting for that for a while.


Why do you care if fetus's are aborted? Do you want them to live so your priest can molest them?
