Senetor John McCain has just suspended his presidential campaign so that he can return to washington to take part in the bail out debate and vote, he has called Senetor Obama and asked him to do the same.
He has also called upon the President to convine a Bi-Partisan group to discuss these measure and asks that both he and Obama be included.
He is also asking for fridays debate to be prosponed.
Very brave move on his part I think and I hope that Obama and the President agree to what he is asking for.
Just seen the senate comitte questioning the head of the Fed and others a very interesting debate indeed.

A bit of both methinks as it is, after all, serious stuff. Stunt part (and I'm not sure even I would call it that) he gets the "it was MY idea" pat on the back.

I have to admit one of the smarter moves he's made in recent weeks. Ties up himself, Obama, our excuse for a President as well as Joe and Sarah for all intents and purposes.

Where does he lose? Debate with Obama. Where does he win? More time for Sarah to rehearse.

    Very interesting.

He's a politician, everything he does is calculated. But, it really puts the pressure on Obama now to follow suit, and if Obama is following McCain then it makes Obama look weak. And, since Obama had been picking up momentum in the past week, I think this was a brilliant move by McCain.

If this was another brilliant move then perhaps we should vote for him since there seems to have been a lack of brain power in the Oval office for awhile now.

Suspending the campaign sounds impressive but what exactly does it mean? I suspect most of the campaign happens regardless of what the candidate is doing...ie advertising, campaign statements, fund raising, etc.

I do agree with Peter, though. If Obama does it now, it looks weak.

And, if he doesn't do it, he looks like he doesn't care about the number 1 issue on voter's minds right now...the economy.

I just talked to my buddy at the radio station, JD Hayworth. He has a bit of experience at this stuff.;)

Obama has just voted " present " again. Above his paygrade ???

JD seems to think this is a bad move on the O camp to not stand up and follow, even if he has to follow. However, as complicit as Obama is in this mess, it is understandable that he would want to stay away.

    Brilliant move Johnny

Just been listning to John McCain talking and he said that he and Obama had discused things this morning :D and he (Obama) was clearly flusterd when he did his press confrence in Florida, I think McCain caught him on the hop LOL

Ya see, this kinda of leaves Obama all dressed up and nowhere to go, so he has chosen to sit by the phone.

Jabs would be easy right now, so I wont, but I would not be suprised to see this lack of " sleeves up / hands on " hurt the O camp a bit.

EDIT. Sarah will be just fine. Biden thinks FDR was president in 1929 and went on TELEVISION ( in 1929 ) to sooth the nation, lol. That was before Bidens helicopter got shot down ( by snowflakes ) , lol. ( I had to take those, they were a " gimme " )

If you get a chance whatch the Larry King interview with Bill Clinton, his comments on Sarah Palin might come as a bit of a suprise to some :D

( best Bill Clinton impersonation voice )

" Now Sarah there, she's got all the qualifications. I would like to personaly " extend my endorsement " :D

Reminds me of the time a Clinton impersonator called Kim Kommando and asked if she would " download my hard drive"

Bill in his prime could charm the horns off the devil. Shame he never used that power with our foreign policy but then again he was part of the world with out borders/new world order mind set just like the first bush, the second is just over his head. Haven't had a president who would put america first since Ronnie and may never have another one again.

I think this is going to turn into one long (and free) 'Not Ready To Lead' commercial for McCain.

Long day at work, here's my take.

The Dems want the taxpayers to buy a 700BILLION box of crap. The conservatives want to prevent that, and loan the money is " as needed " amounts.

Obama is again a deer in the headlights, indecisive and not showing even a hint of leadership. He has 3 of the causes of this mess on his campaign staff, and both he and his " running mate " are coimplicit in this, both voting against the regulation sought by the Repos in '06, and taking $215 MILLION along the way ( his campaign staff salary from Fanny/Freddie/Countrywide).

McCain pulls a stunt technically, but has again, shown an ability and a desire to get something done.

Obama camp: McCain afraid to debate. Truth? Obama ducked out of 10 TEN town halls.......

Dem party: This is a Repo caused mess. Truth? BIll Clinton blames the dems today in friont of any camera that would have him.

Obama camp: Repos could have stopped this. Truth? Obama, Chris Dodd, John Kerry and Chuck Schumer ( top 4 Fanny lobby $$$ getters) ran interference and stopped all attempts to reighn this in

    Truth: Politics is dirty.

At first I said this may have been a decent move by the old man BUT he made one flaw.

He openly lied to David Letterman(?) of all people. Might not seem like much to you all as he "obviously has left leanings". Hell, I never watch late night TV for that matter and haven't for years.

He told Letterman that he had to "rush" to Washington then showed up for Katie Couric (yes another fave of the conservatives). Get this I don't like her either.

Needless to say Letterman was pretty pissed off and I DID stay up to watch this show. Letterman tore him and little miss "moose in the headlights" apart I'm afraid.

Oh, and he needed a replacement for McCain. Everybody's friend Keith Olberman showed up.

Now, I know this will upset a lot of conservatives but I'm afraid McCain screwed this part up big time. All he had to do was tell Letterman the truth. He didn't and Letterman reacted.

Think it's not important? Letterman reaches MILLIONS and it is getting media attention. Also getting big attention on YouTube. In this age telling such a blatant lie will burn your ass no matter what your real intentions are.

McCain took a pretty good move and burned his ass.

Clarification. When I say " The Dem's ", I now include President Bush.

Yep, I'll say it. Bush the Democrat. Not a conservative bone in his body. Right on defense, nothing else. The little box you check on your voter registration means nothing when you hide it and look at actions.

meaningless footnote: Letterman. About as important as that miserable failure Olberman and those who consider him a news source. Gee, I sure hope Michael Moore and Babs Striesand approve of McCains plan, otherwise we are in trouble !! They all did wonders for Gore and Kerry after all.

Consideriing what my post about Letterman pointed out I find this highly amusing. ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK!

I mean really. Look at your statement. Nothing but an attack and a calculated change of subject. Did I mention Moore, Steisand, Gore or Kerry?
Man that reeks of "liberal tactics".

YOU don't like any of these people and I know that. What you fail to acknowledge on a VERY regular basis is that MANY people do. This is the reality part creeping in again.

Politics is dirty business. How many times must it be pointed out?

Sarah Palin is unavailable for comment. SHE'S still alive!

What I was doing was not an attack at all, just was demonstrating something. America does not care what Letterman thinks. Or the hollywood left. Or the new media. America thinks for itself. Nothin more. If that was not true, John Kerry would be President, plain and simple. He was Lettermans man, the medias man and the Hollywood lefts man.

    Now, back to the subject.

Put yourself in a seat at the desk in the car dealership ( or the bigscreen TV store, or the real estate office et al ).

When somebody who wants your money tells you ..." We have to do this now "....."This deal has to get done quick"....." No time to waste on this deal"......

Doesn't that kind of make you scratch you head and say, wait a minute. Not so fast.

The same gang that caused this trainwreck are saying " hurry up and give us the money"

RE Palin. Moose in the headlights? Sure, set-ups can do that. Katie Cupcake and Charlie Gibson, woo hoo, lol.

Heres a moose in the headlights after a teleprompter went down ( Sarah gave the last 40 minutes of her convention speech without a teleprompter by the way ). Obama:

Jack and Clembo I have to ask what do you think will happen to the American economy if this (or something very similar)deal does not go through?
Forget the politicians for a moment and think of how this will affect every single American.
Personaly I think that if some deal is not done soon then the economy will go into free fall. The rights and wrongs of the situation can be dealt with at a later stage but first they have to act.
