Jefferson's liasion with his slave Sally Hemings was commented on. Andrew Jackson was called a bigamist, with perhaps a little justification. And the rumor mill had it that James Buchanan, our only unmarried president, was, to put it gently, a little light in the loafers. Sexuality is an old political weapon.
Buchanan wouldn't be the only light in the loafers president we could have had... well maybe we would have had the opposite had the voters not dissed her for some celebrity.
I know that this forum has degenerated into a small handful of conservatives sitting around agreeing with each other and pressing the GOP talking points firmly into each other's subconscious over and over but seriously...SARA FRICKIN PALIN? When McCain has to go nearly to the Arctic Circle to find a a running mate because nobody else in the entire lower 48 is qualified enough, you have to ask yourself what were his criteria to begin with. I mean seriously, what was he looking for in a running mate? His next wife? I usually wouldn't give the VP spot any attention whatsoever if it wasn't for the fact that McCain is 72 years old and has had cancer 4 times. Can you imagine Palin as president? If you can and aren't seriously afraid at the thought, your opinion, not to mention your judgment is deeply flawed and you should go sit down somewhere and be quite. Heck if Sara Palin ever became president, I'd attack this country myself. I'm positive she'd blow up the U.K. in retaliation (sorry Steve). I have to agree with Peter; Is McCain trying to lose this election on purpose? I know the Evangelicals got big old tight jeans at the thought of a another religious ideologue in the administration and jumped onto the bandwagon as soon as she was announced but the rest of the country is just shaking their heads in disbelief. If Palin is elected somehow, it will be with the help of possibly the dumbest, least educated, least informed, unqualified to vote electorate in this country's history. And I don't mean that in the good way. Sorry if you don't agree, and I know you five don't, that's just the way I see it.
Yes Moen, the women from Alaska is not the most qualified person to be vice president but the democrats have a person who is running for president who has marginal experience at best. The difference is if barak hussin obama wins he directly walks into the white house as president with marginal experience. If McCain wins he has experience to be president, even if he is a liberal, and Sara has on the job training.
Once again Andy you hit the nail on the button. Is that the correct american saying? anyway, obama is most likely more tied into other nations interests then he is with American. After all does anybody really check where his 30 million a month money is coming from off the internet.
Sarah has on the job training? For what running a town the size of my block? A state that has twice the population of the COUNTY I live in? Yeah, old John Boy dies and she's REALLY qualified to run the free world as long as it involves "moose dressing". Damn! If only Barney Fife was running. Give him a bullet and he runs Mayberry AND Mount Pilot. Yes they do actually Isa. Even though people get the constant BS emails about how much of the money comes from "foreign" sources it has been proven to be nothing but a pack of lies. Next time you get such an email snopes it. You'll see false. Obama has roughly 2.5 million donors. These are not generally "black tie" affairs. With a $2300 limit if each of these people donated just $15 per month that would come out to $37.5 million per month. Like it or not the "common man" is financing Obama. Still amazes me that so few seem to see this. People are beyond fed up.
Yep, the common man Striesand and the $30,000 a plate dinner? $9,000,000 in one day from the common folks , just everyday people http://www.newsweek.com/id/81812
I think the fact that a conservative woman is on the ticket has some folks upset. The way you guys bash this woman is kind of silly, don't you think? I was for Sarah Palin way before she was announced if you look. She has strong Reagan like ideals. Reading the Huffington Post and Move On, the same reasons they dislike her, her conservative ideals, is what makes her so attractive to us, her looks are a bonus. The Dem machine has spent more money and more time bashing her than any other candidate in history. Why? She scares them. Have a great week folks.
Well one point I will make here on the donations Obama has turned down the offer of fedral funds to run his campaign while McCain took the money. This is on the record for all to see if you look so kindly dont accuse me of making this up or calling me a Obama supporter Now as for Sarah Palin she has scared the Democratic machine and they have admited that they need to focus more on McCain than on her How many recent Presidents have had excecutive experience before taking the white house over as a matter of interest? By executive experience I mean actualy been part of the governing body of the country? Ie running the Tresuary or Armed forces?
Well Dick Cheney comes to mind, he was in the inner circle during the reign of King Richard I Nixon and Gerald Ford.
Yeah, I keep hearing Republicans say that but I have yet to see anyone on this side shaking in their boots because she is such a formidable candidate but there are plenty of people that would be scared if a person that unqualified ever got elected and with good reason. The funny part about both McCain and Palin is that they are both running on taking on their own party which obviously implies that the Republicans have been wrong all along and the Democrats who have been against the Republicans all along have been right. So now you are left with electing the party that has been wrong for the last 8 years or the party that has been telling us for 8 years that they are wrong. What do you do...What do you do? Think!
Do you agree with everything that comes out of Obama's mouth or Biden's mouth? I didn't think so. Your argument about reform cuts both ways- Obama is staking his campaign on it but keep in mind the "Washington" they want to change has included Obama for a year or two (hard to influence much change or accomplish anything of note when you've spent more of your time in Washington pandering for the Presidency rather than working for reform) and it's the same Washington that has included Joe Biden nearly 40 years. The Congress has been controlled by the democrats for the entire time Obama has been in Washington so does he have his issues with, really? As for Palin, I'll repeat what I have stated in other posts...she has experience where the main guy on the dem ticket does not. Has Obama ever made an executive decision? Didn't think so. Has Obama ever held an executive office? Nope. Has Obama ever met a payroll, created a job, balanced a budget? Nope, nope & nope! Not only has Palin done all the above as a business owner, Chairman of the Energy Commission, Mayor, Commander-in-Chief of the AKNG and governor of a state, she has done it with unparalleled popularity, while maintaining her integrity...no pandering, false promises or masked attempts to buy votes necessary. Actually, she is EXACTLY what the dems try to paint themselves to be- she came from humble beginnings...strong family tradition and values....rose through the ranks of her own volition...she talks the talk & walks the walk. She has core values & believes so I understand why she doesn't appeal to liberals. She opted to have her special needs child rather than kill it, another black mark for the libs. The Palins have been self-reliant..another strike in the liberal book. But worst of all, you have someone who isn't ashamed of her faith...compare that to Obama and his Jeremiah Wright led church or Biden who professes to be a practicing Catholic but advocates killing babies in the womb. Geesh!! The fact that you libs have so much hatred for Palin serves to re-inforce my support of her & everything she stands for!!!!

Gosh you are SO smart non Level Headed. Did he cultivate those 30 or so people from the internet? Yannow, like Isa questioned? Hey, could be but let's struggle with some more math. Let's say there were 1100 donors. If there are 2.5 million internet donors let's subtract 1100 for ease of math. 2,500,000-1100=2,498,900. Now realistically I'm sure a few of those remaining have a few bucks to spend as well. Admittedly the realism part may be hard for you to understand, but if those people pitch in $15 a week it still adds up to a tidy sum. People are willing to do it right now. Now that's scary ain't it?
So you want to put someone with muslim leanings and belongs to a church founded by the black muslims into the white house. Why not the democrats have been selling themselves out to muslim arabs ever since abscam in the 1970's when feds posed as arabs since it is so common to bribe a donkey.
You obviously see Palin as you wish to see her not as she is and you do the same with Obama. I won't, I can't persuade you of something you clearly refuse to see and I wouldn't waste my time trying. I look at your rhetoric and see the labels and the stereotypes and the emphasis on "values" and I know who and what I am dealing with. The individual truths, the stretching of the truth, and the down right lies aren't worth arguing about in my opinion. Fundamentalist are a different breed. I'm not trying to label you a fundamentalist but you clearly use the rhetoric of one and I guess if the shoe fits... But lets move on. I think the more important issue is John McCain. This is not the man you want in charge of your country during an economic crisis. Nor do you want the cadre of Republican advisers that got us here in the first place that he will inevitably surround himself with. Four more years of Republican voodoo economic and this country will never recover, well not in my lifetime anyway. I couldn't give a rat's a$$ about McCain or Palin's "values" because nothing could be less important to the welfare of this country except to the minority of bible thumping idiots too dumb to know that they are being used by the Republicans year after year. You can't fix stupid. No, the problems this country has both here and abroad aren't going to be solved by John McCain any time soon or ever for that matter. I'm confident that he will be soundly defeated at the end of the next 48 days and we can begin to trust in government once again, not to provide free handouts as you believe but to demonstrate real leadership, to encourage hope and a belief in America that has been absent for far too long under George Bush. Once we begin to pull back from the path of fascism that we have been headed down for 8 long years, we can begin to feel like we own this country once more. I look forward to John McCain's concession speech almost as much as I look forward to George Bush climbing aboard Air Force One for the last time. Oh Happy Days! May your God bless you and good night.
I don't care in the least which version of some imaginary being he believes in. They're all the same to me. Does the name Jack Abramoff meaning anything to you? He was the guy that had both the Republicans and the Christian coalition scamming Indian Reservations to enrich themselves. You can't throw a scandal involving Democrats at me that I can't turn around and throw two more Republican sex/money/corruption scandals back at you immediately so if you have the courage please consider the whole picture not just the half that merely serves as a lie of omission. What's going to be really interesting is the investigations that will come out after Bush is gone. There is so much corruption to go through over the last 8 years that it will take the vastly increased in numbers Democratic congress years to bring all your buddies to justice and Bush won't be around to pardon them. Boo Hoo!
