Not to sound cold, but they were just buildings. They can be replaced. But the 2702 people that died there on that horrible day cannot. But now those buildings are a symbol, a tangible reminder that people wish to take our freedom away from us. And we have a government which is also complicit with terrorism by enacting statutes which would further hinder our freedoms.

Crikes, you live in a state that produced as it's proudest sons, Ted Kennedy, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and John Kerry(married a millionaire, but she didn't get him elected). And not only to they elect them, they keep them in the Senate repeatedly.
Hey now, they're not just philanderers, the Kennedys were importers as well. They put Detroit on the map ( and I'm not talking about cars ). Look into the " Purple Gang", and imports from Canada during prohibition......... They help boost both the economy of Chicago and Detroit ( forget about the gang related murder rate for a minute ). No one should EVER forget what happened this day. That point seems to be lost as this thread progresses although progress is a very relative term here. Yes folks, I am the Liberal here and the direction you so quickly turned this thread is appalling to say the least. People died. A lot of people. A lot of people and not all Americans. Families were affected and still are. This event changed our world and many more have died because of it since then. For the record I am not, nor have I ever been, a big fan of the Kennedy clan. Well, I do admit to being a bit moody as of late. It's frustration. Pehaps even a bit of dissapointment at being tricked and played a fool by you and your wife Gypsy. A friend of Nikki's thought that she had lost her nephew in the twin towers (Yes a Brit) but thankfully he was found a few weeks later in a hospital badly injured and suffering memory loss. We attended the Memorial service at St Pauls cathedral here in London a short while after the event to say prayers for those who had lost family and freinds, I met a number of Americans from both sides of the Political divide that day who were all proud to be Americans so I am sorry saying that someone can not love there country at a time like this is very very wrong, to bring politics into it is also very wrong. This day was meant to be a day when politics mean nothing a day to remember the loss your country and others sufferd and to remember those who lost there lives in other terrorist attrocities around the world. Please save your acrimony for another thread and not this one.
Actually it was another that saw some political agenda in my OP here. I just think buildings are a lot less important than peoples lives, and that... is not political... but a fact. The buildings are a tangible reminder for most of us of what is gone, since we did not lose loved ones in that tragedy. But for the families involved the buildings have insignificant importance.
Why are the tapes of the towers hardly shown. Why were the tapes of the people jumping out on fire not shown. The towers going down united the nation against a common enemy. How quickly that image was suppressed. Clembo if you don't like the kennedys then you ok with me for it shows that you are a thinking liberal and not a political zealot who follows blindly and whose passion is dangerous.
They were shown. Keith Olberman apologised to his viewers for having to sit thru that " blatantly political farce" of using the movies to remind folks. ( He has since been fired )
