Assh---s like Matthew Dowd at MSNBC who spew fake news and lies contribute to the rhetoric that leads the violent Leftists to commit such horrendous acts. Thankfully, MSNBC has fired Dowd for these comments. MSNBC fires analyst Matthew Dowd for 'unacceptable' comments about Charlie Kirk Dowd had suggested Kirk brought on assassination with 'hateful words' September 10, 2025 MSNBC has fired political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting "hateful" rhetoric from TPUSA co-founder Charlie Kirk led to his own assassination, two sources familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital. The network previously denounced Dowd's comments on social media. "During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable," MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler said in a statement. "We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise." A spokesperson for MSNBC declined to comment. Dowd joined MSNBC in 2022 after a long stint at ABC News. After Kirk was shot Wednesday afternoon, Dowd suggested it was caused by a chain reaction from his "hateful words" against various groups. Kirk, a leading conservative activist and top ally of President Donald Trump, later died at the age of 31. Before the news that Kirk had died, Dowd told MSNBC host Katy Tur, "We don’t know any of the full details of this yet. We don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration." CHARLIE KIRK ROSE TO BECOME CONSERVATIVE POWERHOUSE, TRANSFORMATIVE CAMPUS FIGURE Dowd said Kirk has been "one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions." "I think that’s the environment we’re in, that the people just — you can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have, and then saying these awful words, and not expect awful actions to take place. And that's the unfortunate environment we're in," he added.
I learned of the assassination of Charlie Kirk about 8 hours after he was killed. What is it that makes those resorting to violence believe they bring improvements to society? By their actions they not only display the extent of their frustration, but they expose their inability to influence those in the majority with reason. Can they not see that the failure of the majority to move to their point of view almost certainly means their point of view is not the right one? That they have not fully processed all information and all perspectives before reaching a conclusion? By resorting to violence, this monster has deprived the world of the greatest of resources . . . Of exactly that which the shooter unknowingly wished to be . . . a brilliant communicator who, without gimmicks or force, and with only his powers of reason and communication could find the right answers and influence others with ease. By its consistent call for violence against conservative figures, the Democrat Party today martyred Charle Kirk. May his legacy and his means live on.
I can’t put my finger on why Charlie’s murder has touched my heart as it has. I wasn’t particularly a follower of him or anything. I do know that each time I saw him speak it was always with a fetching smile. He was such a vibrant young man. I guess maybe that’s why this loss feels so especially egregious. Our nation is so desperately in need of vibrant young people. No longer will I turn my head and be polite while I see or hear someone praising and normalizing abhorrent behavior. Charlie’s death is most certainly a turning point for me.
Loved by so many for what he brought to America, and especially by those whose eyes he opened, Charlie Kirk’s legacy will grow on the shoulders of his many supporters. Liberals will one day look back on the assassination of Charlie Kirk as do the Japanese upon their attack on Pearl Harbor.
‘My condolences to all of you conservatives on Partisan Lines who lament the loss of your Charlie Kirk . . . How are you holding up? Your president is an arsehole.’ You don’t care at all.
A two bit criminal dies of an overdose under the knee of a cop and the nation suffers riots and hard working people lose their livelihoods…….. A positive God fearing man that espouses values in a valueless society is violently and publicly executed in cold blood and the nation holds candlelit vigils… Which side are you on?
I strongly disagree with you on that. His murder is abhorrent, but he was not a "positive" person. His whole schtick was "debate" 20 year 18-22 year olds to farm performative outrage clips. His views were highly controversial too. I think it's quite telling on that point that there's been endless coverage of Kirk's death, but little to none of that coverage actually includes clips of him speaking in life. Why do you think that is?
It's not. I'm very clear about that in my post. We don't have to canonize him just because he was killed. He was highly divisive, and said a lot of terrible things while creating ragebait content. Please do share your favorite quote of his. Show me his positivity and values that you saw in him.
Charlie was absolutely a positive person. He espoused completeness of thought, uncensored speech, and independence from control by government. Tearing down others, unlike prominent Democrats, was not his modus operandi. You could not be more wrong . . . Charlie Kirk was perfectly willing to engage all comers, regardless of age . . . Bill Maher (link), Sam Seder (link), Van Jones, etc. That he shows up in so many of the video shorts you see has everything to do with the fact that college campuses had become the incubators of the misled and, suitably, the target of his energies. Even if his only "schtick" was picking on poor helpless half-educated liberal college students, he went unprepared into an environment where each of those students could approach him with a singular, well-prepared challenge to his beliefs, yet he managed to dispatch them, embarrassed for having been half-educated, if not open-eyed and open-minded to larger than previously-held views. Highly controversial? To whom? To less than half of the American electorate? There's untold footage out there, if only you possessed the energy level to seek it out, but since it fails to support your agenda, finding that energy level is doubtless beyond your capacity.
Quotes are for the intellectually lazy. I am process-focused and study cause and effect rather than memorizing dates, names and speeches.
Having not followed the man I couldn’t post a favorite quote. But all you are asking in reality is to finish this sentence…… “His death is a tragedy, but……” And thing is, there is no correct ending to that sentence. No ending that leaves the world with his youthful vibrance. No ending that leaves two young children with the love of a father. Sorry, I won’t play.
I'm not. It's a tragedy, I feel deeply for his family, especially his children. I don't think it's better to create and weaponize some mythos about him and his life though. Is that really respectful of him and his family?
There's a tribute to him on Fox at 7:00 EST this evening. If you can stomach it for as long as it lasts, you may well feel differently about the guy.
The killer might not have acted out any personal sexual frustration, had he tried dating a few normal girls that know they are normal. Yes, normal, as in girls have a vagina and boys have a penis.
