Seems you guys are backing a cold blooded dictator, who murders political opponents/ rigs elections/ wanted by the International Court for War Crimes commited in illegal invasion of a sovereign Nation, on three occasions 2014 Crimea/ 2014 Donbas/ 2022 Ukraine again.

Zelenskyy is told he is a dictator/ while Putin.....crickets

Zelenskyy will not call election/ why? his polling is at 4%......well er no its at 67% and how in the hell can he call an election when the bloody Russians are lobbing balistic/ cruise missiles at civilian targets. Russia loves hitting hospitals/ schools/ apartment bldgs/ childcare centres.
Zelenskyy is blamed for not wanting Peace/ for maybe starting WW3. Well WW3 is already on, you have the "axis of evil" Russia/ N. Korea/ Iran in one corner, and Ukraine/ European NATO + Canada in the other. US in meantime cut off military aid, and intelligence data to hamper Ukrainian military.
Hopefully, there will be a new slogan, "Make Europe Great Again" Powerfull German/ French/ British military might along with their economic superiority will crush the Russian Bear.
Ukraine will never bow to US blackmail and Russian ethnic cleansing. Putins aim for his SMO was to wipeout Ukrainian culture and Russify the population by any means possible. However after three years of Russian destruction, murder/ rape that will never happen. Ukraine slogan, Death to Putin, death to Russia!:D

Wanna see what a cult following looks like?

Consider this when you go to the polls soon. Do you really want another Trump in the North?

Actually we hopefully will elect a Conservative (Pierre Polievre) I maintain his lawn/ super nice guy! He will support Zelenskyy. His policies are breath of fresh air. I am totally Rightwing, but I know what is right and what is not. As far as I know, at present Zelenskyy is a first class leader, a truly great person.
The more I watch Putin, he reminds me of Stalin or Ivan III "the Terrible"Had Reagan been President in 2014, Putin would have never annexed Crimea/ started War in Donbas. Only thing thugs like Putin fear is might.

I agree, and believe you, but it really shocked me just how quickly the American right turned on him. Even on this site they're pretty hostile to him all the sudden.

Best of luck with Carney in the interim! He may not be tour cup of tea, but I thought he gave a pretty good speech today.

I truly believe that every "voter" should use his/ her brain to decide where to mark "X" on election day. But/ I see human stupidity everyday, esp. in Russia.
The population there is solidly behind the corrupt Regime. You see it when these mindless idiots sign their life away for a measely $2200US a month to die few days later. I make that in 2 days cutting grass. Meanwhile seems OK, when avg. Russian makes $500 a month that Putin and his buddies have 700M yachts. Meanwhile up here the Liberal regime under Trudeau ruined our economy/crime is rampant/Dollar sits at below 70cents US. Meanwhile, President Trump thinks Putin is his friend, when in reality he is conspiring to give Iran nuke technology/ also supported Iran=Hamas=October 7th attack.
Not to forget he wants Alaska back. His goal is to expand Russian Empire to the Atlantic.

Seems to me, most on the "Right" in Europe, Orban/Hungary Fico/ Slovakia AFU/ Germany seem to forget the brutal Russian Occupation of Warsaw Pact Colonies, also the AFU lady forgets the Russian massacres in Silesia 45/ where the Reds behaved worst then the Mongols, not to forget the brutal secret police regime in occupied East Germany. Ukrainians will never forget the 1928-34 genocide in which 16M perished by Stalin's decrees carried out by Lev Kaganovich and the OGPU murder squads. The Baltics/ Poland do remember, and are rearming/ so will Germany. Europe has finally woke up to reality. If we do not use our ten fold economic might to aid Ukraine, help them destroy the Russian war machine, by economic attrition, same as Reagan did in late 80s.
Trump needs to learn from that, Reagan was an actor, so was Zelenskyy. Both were/ are beacons of commonsense.
I think Polievre will win big in upcoming election. Reason? Simple, Carney has changed his true colors for political gain. Polievre has had the same agenda, since becoming Con. leader. Axe the Carbon tax/ build the homes/ lock up the criminals/ build pipelines, refineries/ instead of shipping raw materials offshore/ manufacture the end product here. I also gave him my idea/ highspeed German rail 500KPH across Canada. Commonsense like Reagan. Merz once Chancellor will send Taurus missiles to Ukraine:D

Is continuing a useless war in Ukraine as economically important as increasing our U.S. Navy Fleet another 50+ Ships?

Or is it as economically important as increasing Air and Artillery Defense in PACOM, inclusive of Submarine Defense (in addition to the 50+ Ships mentioned)?

    Yawohl!
Number 1/ its was a belligerent Russia that invaded a sovereign nation in 2014/ then again in 2022.
2/ USA/ UK/ Russia promised Ukraine that if they gave up their nukes, then they would pledge to protect Ukrainian sovereignty.
3/ If US lets one meglamaniac get away with might =right. Next Xi invades Taiwan/ Philippines/ Australia?
4/ its way cheaper to end Russian imperial ambitions now in Ukraine/ then to have to stop Putin when he invades Baltics/ Poland. Then US will be directly involved.
5/ If you do not want Iran to get nukes, Putin right now sent "experts" to Tehran to aid them in their quest.
6/ Distintegration of Russia would be great for US/ imagine the resources! All for the taking.

I prefer the World Peace View.
While I do understand your thrust, and certainly you have made your position clear, it is not addressing the threats you opine: PRC, and Iran.

The Soviet Politburo does not want to (especially since the lesson was previously painfully taught) a Sino-Soviet Encounter.

Your position does not give credence to the DPRK.

Your position concerning Iran is not as dire as the Media presents, and is somewhat insulting to Israel Defensive (and Offensive) capability; the absence of same would collapse the Middle East. SA, Turkey, Et Al depend on the Israeli ability, and Iran does not want to trigger an Israeli response. POTUS Trump, while espousing a now or never position concerning Iran, is not referring to the Iran nuclear danger. It is referencing the foolishness of Soviet blustering and armpit quacking as a dangerous tactic and to stop mit the Iran support stuff, because it will TRIGGER an Israeli response, which will be supported without any reservations by the Middle East, and Europe.

Putin knows the Global reality, and the rest is a Freshman (and all it mentally conjures in everybody's HS days) threatening the 5 Sports Letter Jock Senior.

Truth in editing: changed "fo" to 'of"... to make sure nobody was interpreting my thoughts as a fefifofum act

The PRC's crazy notion, that Taiwan is a rebellious Province is ludricous. The Civil War between the bad guys (Commies) and the Nationalists ended with Mao's forces taking mainland China. The Nationalists (Democratic) forces evacuated to Formosa now Taiwan. Why Xi even cares. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan would involve the might of the US navy/ airpower vs PRC forces. China would loose. On the otherhand, he I were the PRC, I would do a blitzkrieg full scale invasion of Central/ FE Russia. Putin has nobody there to stop the Chinese onslaught. Most of the resources China needs are there for the taking. Plus I would cost the Chinese 10 % of casaulties they would have invading Taiwan. Common sense is so lacking.
With Putin, he is not rational. He is living in a fantasy world, where Russians are a "Super race" destined to make Him greater then Stalin, Peter the Great . Thing is, Putin is too drunk on power, to realize, Peter I was not all that great, Karl XII of Sweden won vs five nations. The small Swedish army won victory after victory/ only lost at Poltava due to attrition. Ditto for Stalin and his so called victory in the "Great Patriotic war" the wehrmacht lost 1.3M to Reds 25M. Luftwaffe / SS panzer aces scored kill tallies on Eastern Front that will never be equalled/ had the wehrmacht fought only the Reds in WW2, the war would have ended in 42 with the surrender of the Soviet Union.

The last numbers that I heard were that the casualties in Ukraine were approaching 300,000. By contrast the US lost 60,000 lives in that Vietnam. Forgive me if my numbers are off, I am going from memory… Long and short is that far too many lives have been forfeited in Ukraine. And you are correct in your assessment of Putin and he if fully capable of rationalizing a nuclear response if he feels backed in a corner. And if he does, it’s game over for us all. Putin is the aggressor and only Putin can end the aggression. Trump knows that. Heck, even I know that. Zelenskyy has one objective and that is to save his nation. Trump has a bigger picture. He has to consider the capabilities that Putin possesses and has alluded to using and play his hand appropriately. You don’t lock a cornered rattlesnake. You negotiate with him. Now to those that are prone to dislike Trump then they will automatically paint Trump as kissing Putin’s backside. That is not at all what is taking place. Trump is negotiating to end the bloodshed and by proxy, the rest of us.

Where exactly does "Ukraine, give us your mineral rights and you can have weapons" fit into this?

Well say! I think Russian casualties are at 900K:D Which is a GOOD thing. Personally, I know for a fact, Putin like his hero Stalin are/ where cowards. Both so paranoid of death, Stalin murdered 50M while Putin does it discreet. Putin will NEVER start a nuclear war, since he knows he will die. Putin only cares about himself, he is the worlds richest man, has five palatial properties/ classic collector cars/ art/ rare gold coins/ beautifull women.....why would you want to end all of that? He is not stupid, but he is a cold blooded murderer. He could not give a rats ****
for any of his 900K+ dead/ maimed for life so called cannon fodder. Neither did Uncle Joe for 25M dead Russians 1941-45.
And keeping the War on Ukrainian soil, is best way to prevent escalation. If we let Putin take Ukraine, he will force millions of Ukrainians into Russian army to invade Moldova, do the same there, then Poland, which is NATO=ARTICLE FIVE= WW3.
Best way for this to end, economic collapse/ then fragmentation and Civil War in Russia.

There is something wrong with expecting recompense?

I'm asking how that move serves the goal of negotiating with Putin to end things and bring peace.

Don't we typically ask for recompense from the aggressor anyway? It is their fault afterall.

Apparently, you fail to recognize our need to replenish the arms we send to Ukraine. Those are not free. Ukraine cannot pay with cash, and we could use the mineral wealth . . . Particularly strategic metals which play heavily into that replenishment.

Maybe you didn’t fail to recognize our need . . . Maybe you just choose to ignore it.

If Ukraine commits its mineral resources to the USA for more weapons, Putin will recognize that the US has a dog in the fight.
