The US can match any offer dollar for dollar and our expertise in most cases is superior. It is the enforcement of our dynamic social morals clause that pushes most to the other side.

Biden's a stupid guy who simply schmoozed along in DC and finally, allowing strings to be tied to his limbs, convinced the DNC to insert him into the White House.

You're right of course, he didn't throw the bullet into the fire . . . he tossed them all in.

Ok. I concede to the Rah Rah We are Better position.

So, how are those Cat Equipment Orders going? Hey! How about those RORO Platforms we are getting Contracts for in the named countries!!

Not sure what point you are trying to make here. CAT sales are up due mostly to strong North America demand. Why would you expect RORO platform contracts from a named country that has chosen the route of "Belt and Road" ?

Do you know where the Cat equipment is being shipped? Hint: I do. Carrier: HYUNDAI.

I now understand ..... you are not quite well versed in the process, and certainly do not understand RORO systems. Hint: Wiki can't help.

Not understanding Belt And Road is understandable, considering your commentary.

I will leave the field of conversation and declare you the superior force.

Out of curiosity only, do you know or are you familiar with ENR, or the ENR 500? Not that important at all, just wondering.

The next time I find myself in New York City, which is in the United States by the way, I'll stop by and get schooled on the 400. Now that you have rolled on to the thread - I think I'll roll off. Afterall you know stuff.

I conceded the field already, but since you want to play "I used Wiki so I know what he is talking about and can now reply so it looks like I know what I am talking about" , let me help:

400 is contractors. 500 is Designers.
RORO IS ROLL ON ROLL OFF systems.
When you are in NYC visiting, maybe look up who holds the quantity and time record for continuous off-shore pour concrete delivery and placement by Ship (Helicopter), and continuous off-shore delivery and placement road aggregate by Ship (Barge).
Let me know what you think. It is interesting stuff. The record(s) have held for 40+ years. Rumor has it that CAT 350s with Jesus Pads, and 2 D-Ring Barge mounted Manitowacs and RORO Slip Forms were employed, and 3 Ships (helicopter) with Quik-Release Containers, planned and designed and built by the Contractor for COE, while dredging and compacting a 5 mile containment facility at the same time, using the America and the Georgia continuously (GLDDC), to support the concrete structures and access roadways and docking (engineered timber) facility- using Chicago Lag and Beth Sheet Pile system to an engineered pile depth of 31 Ft., anchored by Raymond Step Tapered Piles using a P&H rig.

I wish I had been there. Imagine.

justsafarmer, I do not want any misinterpretation of my intent of this present Post:

Cyber conversations are often misinterpreted, and what is meant to be a friendly post is misinterpreted as unfriendly, or what is meant to be an attempted humorous witty post is misinterpreted as haughty, or posting a generalized participatory commentary can be misinterpreted as being condescending.

What is not misunderstood, is when a person does not have the self-dignity to openly tell the person being addressed that you have a personal 'distaste' for the person, and resorts to deliberate unmistakable condescension. It is usually an assumptive position caused by the condescending person taking offence that a board buddy may have been chastised by the person you are directing your condescending remarks, or you simply do not like the manner in which they post, and being condescending in reply is the method chosen.

When I use the term unmistakable/deliberate condescension, I am not referring to a one-off or even two-off comment. I am referring to repetitive condescending snarky replies toward the same person, on different threads/subjects of discussion.

I don't care for someone that is condescending and especially when that person does not simply have the self dignity to convey openly there dislike for someone. I absolutely despise a person that is deliberately and/or unmistakably repetitively condescending.

Such is the situation between us, when there is commentary by both of us in a thread. You are deliberately condescending in your replies...direct or indirect.... both solicited and unsolicited, toward me.

If I know something, I know it. If I don't, I don't, so maybe rein in your Wiki wit. An example of acceptable "Wikiness" (I made that up) in a conversation is stating same. I admire toughcoins for exactly that reason; when he resorts to Wiki he ALWAYS states that is the source. Notice that when it is not his source, you can rely upon the conclusion that he knows stuff and does not need to use Wiki for the particular subject being discussed?

I will be clear. I don't like your board persona. You may be a very nice person and not deliberately condescending in your non-cyber life. Or, you may just have a gripe and lack the ability to declare the gripe. I don't know. But if you are going to be condescending, don't be a sneak about it. Just declare it. It is a method of self respect to do so.

It is up to you to decide if my Post last evening was deliberately condescending toward you (it was and was intended to be). It is also up to you to decide if it is a Wiki concoction, or Blarney designed to convey an appearance of personal involvement, or....?

Ford, GM, Mercedes come clean on EV demand weakness

Automakers respond to concerns as consumers balk at EV push

    October 27, 2023

Top executives of Ford, General Motors and Mercedes-Benz all addressed concerns over waning demand for electric vehicles this week, as the major automakers navigate losses and price wars amid an EV push that not enough consumers are buying.

On Thursday, Ford withdrew its full-year results forecast, citing "uncertainty" over its tentative deal with the United Auto Workers and warned of continued pressure on electric vehicles as customers balk at paying a premium for EVs over other models.

"It's been a challenging situation, for sure," Ford CEO Jim Farley said during the company's third-quarter earnings call after posting greater losses than expected on EVs. "Matter of fact, our business is never short of challenges, especially right now with the evolution of the EV market and new global competitors from China, as well as the technology disruptions."

"A great product is not enough in the EV business anymore," Farley continued. "We have to be totally competitive on cost."

He added that, for consumers, "affordability is an issue" when it comes to EVs.

GM on Tuesday withdrew its 2023 profit outlook, and CEO Mary Barra said the automaker will slow the launch of several planned EV models to cut costs.

"We are reducing our fixed costs by $2 billion net of depreciation and amortization as we exit 2024," Barra wrote in a letter to shareholders. "We are also moderating the acceleration of EV production in North America to protect our pricing, adjust to slower near-term growth in demand, and implement engineering efficiency and other improvements that will make our vehicles less expensive to produce, and more profitable."

The next day, GM and Honda issued a joint statement announcing the end of a $5 billion partnership to develop affordable EVs together, just one year after launching the effort.

GM also made the decision earlier this week to postpone a $4 billion electric truck plant in Michigan.

Mercedes-Benz reported this week that its third-quarter earnings fell as margins on EVs remained lower than previously assumed.

Mercedes-Benz financial chief Harald Wilhelm noted during a call with analysts that some traditional players are selling EVs below the pricing level of internal combustion engine vehicles despite their higher production costs, saying, "I can hardly imagine the current status quo is fully sustainable for everybody.

"I would say this is a pretty brutal space."

Rival automakers are on a quest to take on EV giant Tesla, which dominates the arena and has made several price cuts to vehicles this year to keep the cost of its cars competitive for consumers.

In the company's earnings call last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk voiced his concerns that high interest rates are making it more difficult for consumers to afford buying a car and left the door open to further price cuts in the future.

The prospect of further cuts did not go over well with some.

In a note the next day, Wedbush analysts wrote, "In a nutshell we would characterize last night's conference call as a ‘mini disaster’ as the Street wanted to get their arms around the falling margins and constant price cuts seen globally, but instead we heard from a much more cautious Musk…"
