I don't deny we are damaging the ecosystem with our bad habits, and we need to address that. I've written about our need to come to terms with our energy deficit, and quantify and live within our energy budget. Accelerated implementation of Electric Vehicles is fraught with the perils of the unanticipated . . . something the Democratic Party is infamous for overlooking. I am not ready to make unparalleled mistakes to indulge your impatience. The development of the EV fleet needs to come at an organic pace, and not be forced.
Nobody is forcing you to buy an EV. "Fraught with the perils of the unanticipated"? This is exactly what the government should be investing in right now. EV's get better and better every year and are always in high demand. Shouldn't the government have a role in making this critical change over to green energy since they are the only entity we have to implement a nation-wide transportation network? The demand is there. Private companies are racing to produce the most desirable and efficient EV's. Where is this acceleration coming from that worries you so much? I'm not seeing anyone but the major players doing what they should be doing. Even competition is playing its role.
The sophomoric progressive manipulation of the fossil fuel markets to drive premature adoption of electric vehicles is painfully evident, despite your hollow claims that it isn't real. Liberals believe the government should be investing in green energy . . . it is not the federal government's place to invest in anything. It was formed and exists solely to resolve disputes between the states, and to provide the for the national defense against invasion. Everything else can and should be dealt with by the states. The odds of scaling EV's in the near future as Greenies want is indeed "Fraught with the perils of the unanticipated" . . . There is nothing even remotely approaching sufficient charging infrastructure to meet their goals The generation capacity supportive of a 100% EV fleet falls much further short than charging infrastructure The distribution network between generation and charging points is least prepared of all There's no proof that health hazards will not increase due to radically increasing electricity generation / distribution There is no proven roadmap to EV battery recycling . . . only to a battery graveyard Greenies hypocritically turn a blind eye to the reckless mining of project-dependent-minerals because they support this, their project-du-jour EV's are too expensive, and their cost is going in the wrong direction for widespread adoption The unforeseen by-products of mining, manufacturing and converting the landscape to fully accommodate the charging, distribution and generation of the electricity needed to power the EV fleet envisioned by the Greenies boggles the minds of those qualified to consider those details. It's no wonder the glazed-eyes Greenies seethe at what they perceive to be antagonistic, uncooperative realists. Details . . . who cares about details? Unless given the time to develop at the right pace, I'll be very surprised if the whole Electric Vehicle movement doesn't burn itself out, ruining society's long term enthusiasm / support for what is a truly great opportunity. Your short-sightedness knows no bounds.
Very well put, TC…. Long range thinking and forecasting potential problems ahead are not part of the environmentalists or the politicians mindset.
I have a favorite axiom, oft ignored by the short-sighted . . . " Just because something is possible, doesn't mean it should be done".
PLEASE., PLEASE don't find and post dead threads posted by ignorant members. I cringe each time I see @JoeNO Nation's avatar while waiting to read the monkey crap he posts. The electrification of America is a trick! The dummies want electric military tanks too. Get it? Quiz: what country in the world is building almost a dozen NEW coal fired plants while controlling the raw materials for batteries? Did you know that solar panels lose efficiency. LOL, by the time they are paid for you need new ones. What happens to old solar panels?
The Ford EV 150 pick-up is a great choice because you have the load capacity for a decent size generator. You'll need a good one when your on the side of the road so you can limp to the nearest High Voltage charging station.
Anyone else here the warning about charging stations that are hacked so they will download the linked cell calls from your car?
Why? Because new visitors of JN's persuasion will frequent those threads looking for confirmation of their biases, and we can help right the ship. That's why I sometimes post on an old thread.
What you ignore and others: Most of the lithium and cobalt that is used in electric car batteries comes from China- of whom is Biden and the Democrats main puppet master. Electric car batteries and the mining of product for them causes environmental disaster, with perhaps the worse being the underground water table being poisoned.- Typically Democrat lie of being pro environment and attacking others while they have a horrible track record. that is why I asked the thread starter, what makes him think that Biden did any good here?
I'm on your side. This electric thing is a big hoax derived from the hoax of climate change. It is just another way to empower China as they control the raw materials. Making batteries and their disposal will do more harm than good. I am shocked that all the car makers jumped on this band wagon. It is all about money!

Just pointing out that China's control over the questioned raw materials is at the pleasure and subject to the whims of other governments.
Got it. I don't know that I would concur entirely, because that whim is heavily skewed by the need for funds and expertise ..namely equipment, technology, mining ability, construction ability, transport ability, international market sales ability, road and access construction, engineering, etc. Most of the governments are going to go for the wampum (other wise known as I will gladly give you 1 eggroll today and set you up to give me 12 eggrolls in the very near future if you sign here). So, along comes a "benefactor" with a "we have a deal you are going to like" spiel (Read Belt And Road), and....here we are. The U.S. blew it because we did not offer a better Pizza Deal, and we are now playing catchup under a false flag initiative, and our Government does not have the money, knows the entire EV debacle is falling down the rabbit hole, knows it is not sustainable, and the only out is to convince The People that Red China is the Boogeyman, so when this silliness all falls on its face, the current admin can claim (Not our fault...we did not throw the bullet in the fire).
