Are we pretending to be concerned about minors again while passing laws that openly discriminate against trans individuals again?

Show me one law that Republicans have passed that protects trans kids. Isn't protecting these kids the domain of their parents? Why do Republicans feel that discriminating against trans kids is somehow protecting them?

 

Protecting them from what exactly? I think a distinction needs to be made here. When the kid on the ball team teases another kid saying that he throws like a girl, that is a common kid tease. Some butt slapping and laughter is about all that comes of it. What happens if a trans kid hears that? Is it now discriminatory? Do you see where I am going here? Do we suddenly have to erect glass houses around these kids to shield them from a harsh world? Do you want to help them? Or handicap them?

Not really. Kids rarely bring legal suits against other kids so, no, I don't see where you're going. If they did, every bully in the country would be sued.

Don't you think passing laws that make trans kids outcasts does far more to harm them than anything some kid might say to them in passing? That's the crux of the argument.

It is you who has come in here and barely even tried to make an evidence backed argument.

It's maddening that nobody here will try to use evidence and trends to back up what they're saying. Anecdotes do not extrapolate to general trends without a massive leap in logic.

Mostly it's maddening because I've come across conservatives in other places who do challenge me on these things with evidence based reasoning, so I know it's possible! Granted, they mostly recycled arguments from conservative think-tanks, but at least it made me think more about the issues and change some of my stances.

I almost hate to do this, but if you want to sharpen your conservative arguments, start reading articles and trying to really understand the data based arguments coming out of places like Heritage Foundation, Fraser Institute, and Cato Institute. Like thier liberal think-tank counterparts, they also do manipulations and framing of the data to support their case, but it is literally their job to make evidence based arguments supporting conservative viewpoints and they're not outright lying or wrong.

 

The evidence is all around you. All you need to do is look or listen.
