De Orc, The McCains own the biggest beer distributor ship in America west of the Mississippi, Budweiser/Anheiser Busch Gypsy, you had mentioned Obama passed legislation, what are the names of his bills? You know, McCain Fiengold, McCain Kennedy, etc etc etc. I could find no such Obama bill whatsoever with his name on it. Please help me and identify these " Obama " bills, I'll add them to my reasons to vote for him !! THANKS !!
Hey, Level Headed! Ahhhh, got me doing your homework again....LOL! Well, here's one (see below) that most folks don't know about. Forgive me for taking the lazy way out and pulling from the list on the campaign website. It's just really convenient. I'd say it's a good indication he'll be looking out for the troops after they get home. The way the vets have been treated is just shameful. They deserve every support we can provide. Oh, I thought you might find this site handy. I used it during the last presidential race and found them to be a good source of relatively unbiased info. Lots of good links - including political humor, which does have slant. Gotta have some kind of break from the stress at times. If you like staying up-to-date, though, this one's a keeper. Enjoy!
Thats an Obama press release. S-3475 and S-1180 were introduced, nothing more. They failed and have been wiped from the record as that session of congress has closed. The statement from the Obama press release is misleading to say the least, as he is trying to take credit for passing of bills that both failed. Obama has introduced a total of 65 bills since Jan 1 2007. Nothing has became law, and out of those 65 bills, 3 have passed the senate and are on the way to the house, less than a 5% rate, and 0% have become law. Resume padding during a campaign? Perhaps. Actually, GovTrack.us is a better site for specifics on congressional questions, as it is factual based and includes the voting record of all elected officials in all sessions of congress. Vote from Abroad looks interesting as well, but I have not searched it enough to make a judgement.
Clembo wrote: The Repos are rehashing the same garbage they have been rehashing for how long now? Jeremiah Wright? Fist bumps? The public is already tired of that I'm afraid. BTW Olberman dug up a fist bump of George Bush Sr. I submit the the public is not tired of this...Liberals wish it would go away but it is too important & gives us a true idea of Obama's deep-seeded beliefs-he spent 20 yrs listening to (and I assume agreeing with) Wright's hated filled rants...afterall he did submit his kids to this same indoctrination, didn't he? I still believe Obama's "typical white person" racial sterootype betrays his true feelings?? I have stated in the past in case you forgot. I am not a Republican nor am I a Democrat. I personally think a two party system sucks. It's all fueled on money. Obama wins? I'm sure there will be "favors" to repay. McCain wins? Same feces my man. Same feces to the same people. I agree McCain isn't a superb candidate (frankly I'm surprised his Centrist views aren't more appealling to the Dems) but you'll never convince me that Obama isn't a puppet for some sinister agenda Now I know I wander all over the place. I have a lot on my mind. It's not just attack and spread fear. I seem to get criticized for this as well but once again I get over it. Same here I'll leave you with this. Believe it happened yesterday. McCain when asked when will the troops come home as the surge is working responded with "that's not too important?". I think it is to a lot of people. Hope the brave soldiers in Iraq haven't seen this. Another snippet taken out of context. I will ask this question again: How can Obama commit to a date-certain withdrawal (surrender?) without conferring with leaders on the ground? He has changed his planned withdrawal several times & he still hasn't met with the folks in charge. Irresponsible at best but probably LYING...PANDERING...INEXPERIENCED are more appropriate answers. How can you argue with McCain's answer that "conditions on the ground will dictate the course of our policy"? Maybe I'm biased but it sounds more responsible, sensible & pragmatic to me. Gypsy, Do you believe that Obama can deliver on what he has promised without raising taxes? Do you believe seizing the profits of a legitimate US business is appropriate or even legal? Is Obama telling the truth when he says he will withdraw our troops the first day, 60 days, whatever he is saying today, of his Presidency? Is Iran a threat or isn't it? Why is so much of this guys past supposed to be off limits? This guy is 46 years old...what did he accomplish in his 20's? 30's? Where has he been? What exactly is a "community organizer"? Do you consider his "typical white person" comment a racial stereotype? Does he understand that excessive taxation & regulation are the primary reasons for a company to go overseas? ...just a few legitimate questions, more to follow!!
We are going to have to get used to " snipets taken out of context " from both sides. It is a reality of the campaign. We will also have to get used to 527 organizations, MoveOn and SwiftBoat style commercials. This is where personal research comes into play. If your going to vote, just be sure it is an informed vote, and do not allow the media to pick your candidate. The 527 organizations are collateral damage caused by the McCain / Fiengold campaign finance reform law.
Nope I doubt that he can without raidsing tax but the thing is where does he rais the tax from the big companies or you? Now I thought that most companies relocated overseas for cheaper labour, lower costs on premises, transport etc and tax breaks to be sure and a number of companies openly admit this that they can not compeat against lower labour costs in the east compared to those in the the western work place. I also need to ask is Obama a Libral or a Marxist as both have been claimed here at one time or another and he cant be both. Do your big companies actualy pay all the tax's that they should or do they as happens here hire high priced lawyers and accountants to figure out ways round paying? Dont forget that every dollar that they dont pay has to come from somewhere and usualy that is with higher tax's for you and me. I believe that possibly a comunity organiser is the sort of person who stands up for your rights against a very large and unfeeling buracracy, of course I might be wrong. Certainly Iraq is a threat, and I also believe that our troops should have left the country the week after they toppled Sadam and left them to sort out there own affairs. On this note please dont start telling me about all the Muslim terrorist that were in Iraq as that is rubbish Sadam executed them as they were a threat to his regiem. The Insergents in Iraq today have infeltrated the country mainly after the fall of Sadam, with help from Saudi amongst others. Afghanistan now they realy did have terrorists based there and is a legitamate target for occupation. Perhaps the guy does have a racial pregadis we all do to some extent, I chalange anyone to say that they have never ever had a racist thought in there life's LOL
Paranoia? Dont see any thing even resembling that on this thread. Are you sure this is the right thread your looking for?
Okay, now that's just downright scary, Level Headed... I seem to be doing some of the same! I'm working on a little project just for you. Will be putting it together for you soon. Bet you can't wait! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DeOrc - Very astute observations. I agree with most everything you've noted. I'd make one small revision in that the US should never have invaded Iraq in the first place. BUT, since we did, then, yes, we should've left immediately after (US installed) Saddam Hussein was 'dethroned'. As far as labelling Obama, he would be a liberal in the eyes of a conservative. The conservatives are only screaming 'marxist' because he's for (mostly) universal health care. You know, like they have in the UK.
David - It was my understanding that this board is for discussions/debate. Inherent in that concept would be for both/all parties to partake in the back & forth of information & questions. Agreed? So, for the integrity of the discussion, and reminding you that I've already provided answers to your questions, I'd appreciate it if you would return the favor. I'll be happy to reply to your most recent set of questions after you've responded to the questions I posed in my first posts. To refresh your memory, here they are: Thanks and I'll be looking forward to your detailed reply....
clembo - Paranoia has been epidemic in the US for some time now, especially after the feeding frenzy encouraged by the Bush cabal. The McCain camp is doing their best to whip it all up again, but doesn't seem to be having the same result this election cycle. I'm quite enjoying the (self-inflicted) implosion of the Republican Party. Most especially the Neo-Con hardliners. Thankfully, it appears regular everyday folks are on to the scam and even traditional (old school) conservatives are ticked that their party has been hijacked by this group of soulless power-mongers. I can't wait to see what they'll be saying when President Obama is sworn in on Jan 20, 2009. I plan on having a big bowl of popcorn handy to watch all the festivities.
Be careful Gypsy, there are several threads here from a member already calling Hillary President. November is a long way away. A project all for me? WOW Clembo...I just found it odd that you thought paranoia was around, I dont get it?????? You brought it up, then you answer my question with a question???
