Not My Pronoun?? What?!?!

I am a happy guy. I always go out of my way to smile and be jovial with people. It is my mission in life to put a smile on peoples face….. We were just at dinner. The young lady is working hard and I can see she is a bit frazzled so I put an extra effort in trying to give the young lady a smile. She brings my drink and I say “thank you, dear”…. She responds, “that isn’t my pronoun”…. I am old with poor hearing and think I misunderstood and start to laugh with her when my wife elbows me…. Hard too. Knowing this is the international signal for shut-up, I zipped my mouth and said nothing more. When the young lady left the table, I was then fully schooled on the 21st century meaning of pronouns. Even to the point that the university now demands a pronoun title on the staff emails!!…. OK, so why do we have these kids so twisted up in knots over meaningless phooey? We have these kids so deeply troubled over such inane issues…. It’s no wonder young people take their own lives so often these days….. Yes, this is utter craziness. We have to fix this insane world before we are all lost.

 

Pronouns are all the rage among the leftists (and have been for a while). It's all part of the plan.

Young people grasp onto their causes with a deep passion. It has been that way since the 1960’s. What my generation has done is exploited that passion for political gain and it is absolutely unconscionable.

 

Title IX does not require your university to act against students. It’s sole purpose is to hold the institution accountable . . . not members of the student body.

 

The world has moved on and you're incapable of change. I am roughly the same age you are. I may not have grown up having to think much about pronouns either, but at least I recognize that the world doesn't revolve completely around my upbringing. You are, as they say, a dinosaur. You'll never adapt to a changing world you can't or won't understand and you seem to fault everyone else for your own inadequacies.

First off, it is inappropriate to call any young person you don't know dear, or sweetie, or honey. Frankly, it's condescending. If this service worker was frazzled as you say and probably overworked, her trigger may have been a bit shorter and you should have recognized that and help her by keeping your conversation to a minimum. It's just common sense. Step outside of yourself once in a while and try to empathize with someone that isn't you instead of blaming everyone else for the things you simply can't comprehend. Is it really so difficult to believe that the real problem might just be you?

I'm over in Korea right now visiting my son and his wife and if you want a lesson in stepping outside of yourself, try visiting a country where you don't speak the language. It really puts other people in perspective. I have seen post after post from you relating some experience or another where you seem to find fault with those you seem to misunderstand whether they be young people, liberals, immigrants, whatever, and you always seem to think the same thing. That they must be wrong because that is not how you were taught. Maybe, just maybe, the actual problem is a little closer to home if you know what I mean.

What a load of bullshit. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever addressing someone by his, her or their preferred pronouns. However, when I ask to be addressed by MY preferred pronouns which are “BOSS” and “JEFE”, the alphabet soup crowd refuses to do so.

So, until I get the respect I deserve (which is exactly what THEY are asking), then I’ll address anyone however I feel. What’s fair is fair, right?

Your just twisting yourself into knots. Saying that the other side moves too fast and accusing me of being slow is a prime example of reaching a conclusion and then altering the facts to fit them. You do this effortlessly through years of practice to the point that you've lost any awareness of your own behavior. It's so easy to predict that the rest of us can see it coming a mile away.
