No Joe . . . You don’t! Democrats constantly claim themselves owners of the intellectual high ground . . . If you see an arrogance of party, it’s the belittling nature of the Democrat Party.
It's more of a response to the anti-intellectualism the Right is so fond of than anyone on the Left thinking that they are superior in any intellectual capacity. And if you believe the Right isn't anti-intellectual, you're being willfully ignorant for partisan reasons.
. BS again. How does one notice his shoes are untied if they aren't untied? Why would one push back against intellectualism if it hadn't been used to make them feel small in the first place? Why exactly do you think the ages old expression "The Ivory Tower" references academia? I'm waiting . . .
JN believes the right is anti intellectual because he thinks those on the right have low intellect. He and his type think that right leaning individuals are uneducated, toothless, racist, Christian, and altogether drains on society.
Nobody else is responsible for how YOU feel except YOU. Don't find fault outside of yourself when clearly your own inadequacies are deep inside of you, and you alone.
And that's my point. My reference to making others feel small was general in its application. That intellectuals, especially the self-anointed ones, use that as a basis for discrimination. As for me in particular, sure, I've felt small in the past, but not much in the recent past. When I've felt small, it was due to either of two causes . . . (1) When, as a child, I hadn't yet developed the ability to ignore the taunts / criticisms of others and (2) When, as an adult, I recognized that I hadn't pushed myself as hard as I might have . . . that I hadn't substantially met my own expectations.
So, now you just try to make others feel small. You've come along way baby! You blamed "intellectuals" for making you feel small. Your comment wasn't ambiguous or vague like usual. It was attributing your feelings to other people's attitudes. I learned a long time ago that nobody can make you feel small without your permission. Ask yourself, why you gave others that permission and you'll go along way to figuring out that it has nothing to do with them and everything to with your own inadequacies. If you have a self-inflicted trauma and come out the other side blaming others, what have you really learned in the end? Only how to blame others for your problems.
Tsk, tsk . . . context Joe, context . . . go back and re-read the thread. "Why would one push back against intellectualism if it hadn't been used to make them feel small in the first place?" was not about me, so stop trying to make it out as being that way.
But you referenced yourself feeling small for two distinct reasons. How could anyone not see that as being about YOU? These mental acrobatics of yours have you twisting in the wind. I'm no intellectual, but you seem kind of small.
I think I can settle this... Yes...Conservatives do feel superior to Progressives...the same "superiority" a DMV worker feels when her applicant fails the eye exam.
