The GOP itself is gasping for life and sounding its last death rattle

I'm always surprised how many people believe that the GOP will simply go back to the corporate loving party of hypocrites and liars they have made a living as at since at least the days of Reagan now that Trump is out of office. Heck, those are going to be remembered as the good old days in very short order. The GOP is in its last dying gasps of relevancy and the relatively few GOP members that have stood up and condemned Trump like McConnell, Romney, and even Haley are finding out that without Trump's blessing, you are toast.

They are being swept away by the base of deplorable that demand obedience and capitulating to the king. If you are a Republican, your only two choices are to be irrelevant or become one of the deplorable Trump ass kissers. How do know that this is true? The signs are everywhere. Criticize Trump and you are shunned, threatened, and ostracized. Will there even be primary in 2024 for the Republican nominee? Highly doubtful. Trump will simply assume the mantle and destroy anyone else that dares to compete with his lust for power. He owns the base after all. Watch as formally prominent GOP leaders are cast aside and replaced by Trump sycophants. You have a one man party now guys. Enjoy your cult of personality.

I only wonder at what point does Trump start assassinating his political rivals ala Vladimir Putin? He hasn't been held responsible for anything and I'm sure he feels like he can get away with everything. He won't pull the trigger but he will make his wishes known to his loyal servants. They will do his dirty work as so many have done in the past.

Trump Publicly Snubs Nikki Haley As GOP Collapse Accelerates

According to a new report from POLITICO, ex-President Donald Trump refused a request from former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for a meeting this week after the ex-Trump official criticized him — sort of — over his promotion of the lie that the 2020 election was rigged for Joe Biden. Haley “reached out to former President Donald Trump on Wednesday to request a sit-down at Mar-a-Lago, but a source familiar tells Playbook that he turned her down,” POLITICO reported. At Mar-a-Lago, Trump recently met with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who criticized him after last month’s Capitol rioting, but nevertheless, he refused Haley.

While previously discussing Trump, Haley said as follows:

‘I THINK HE’S GOING TO FIND HIMSELF FURTHER AND FURTHER ISOLATED. I THINK HIS BUSINESS IS SUFFERING AT THIS POINT. I THINK HE’S LOST ANY SORT OF POLITICAL VIABILITY HE WAS GOING TO HAVE. I THINK HE’S LOST HIS SOCIAL MEDIA, WHICH MEANT THE WORLD TO HIM. I MEAN, I THINK HE’S LOST THE THINGS THAT REALLY COULD HAVE KEPT HIM MOVING… I DON’T THINK HE’S GOING TO BE IN THE PICTURE. I DON’T THINK HE CAN. HE’S FALLEN SO FAR.’

 

So what is Shangri-La? Unopposed Liberals taking everything those of us that worked hard and played by the rules earned to reappropriate to those downtrodden? Telling us what straws we can use and how much salt we are allowed to have on our food? Looking down their noses at those of us that spent a lifetime believing that hard work was a worthwhile pursuit? Re-education camps for those of us that practiced faith and voted for a Republican candidate? Aghast!! What is Shanghai-La? Is it time for me to close my business and lie down in defeat and await my just rewards? Please define a perfect world without opposition.

 

It merely means that Trump is your leader now. And everything that goes along with that reality.

As far as the Left goes, I see them becoming increasingly wary of the party of Trump and what he might decide to do.

I hate to see what is happening to the Republican party and I'm not a Republican.

As for Trump methinks he's going to be tied up with lawsuits for quite some time.

If some members in the House and Senate don't wake up they may find themselves looking for work in the not to distant future.

Yes, pretty much my feelings too. I would love to have a viable alternative to the Left. Not necessarily the GOP we've had for the last few decades but one that actually believes in government and believes in public service as a way to give back instead of a way to make as much money as possible for themselves.

It would be great to have 2 or 4 political parties to choose from and parties that would have to actually compete for my vote. All we have now is two parties that people hold their noses and pull the lever for. We could do better. We just haven't in so long that it seems like a pipe dream.
