That doesn't answer the question. You are evading a genuine answer to a straight forward question. Ask yourself. Why do you want the rest of us to forget all of this ever happened? And be honest.

I am fair in being critical of myself. I am also a bit of a WWII history buff having had two grandfathers and a father in law all serve in the European theater..... Were I a German citizen in mid 1930’s Germany and witnessed the Nazi party bring health back into the German economic system, would I have recognized the evil that was the figurehead? I just don’t know. Of course we didn’t have the information tools available to us at the time.... The long and short is... I do see your point and Trumps true colors were on full display at the end of his term. It may be decades before we are able as a nation to put all that behind us. I still maintain that the vast majority of conservatives are like me and aren’t proud of his final legacy. And yes. Quite frankly it would be my desire to see that mess go into the closet to be forgotten about. I know that isn’t reality though.

I don't think many of us would have recognized the slowly creeping shadow of the Nazi regime as it was happening. It was sort of novel at the time. It wasn't a well documented historical event at the time. Most Germans were not even part of the Nazi Party even during the war but they went along for several different reasons. Some were frightened, some were just willing to wait out the war, some were naïve patriots, and many were just indifferent to anything other than the good times Hitler was providing. We have the luxury of knowing how this story ended up. The German people for the most part didn't. It brought their country to ruin.

As far as the vast majority of Republicans go, I can only take their word for what they believe. Just 8 percent of Republicans support Trump's impeachment and removal as a result of his insurrection behavior. 8 percent!!! Only six Republican Senators think that the congress has the power to remove Trump for his crimes. Ten Republican House members voted to impeach Trump. Only 10!!! So if the vast majority of Republicans are actually sickened by Trump's behaviors, they sure aren't showing it. If you are, and I believe that you are, you are a very small minority in the Republican ranks nowhere near a vast majority.

I am not trying to criticize you personally but the facts just don't bear out your beliefs. Republicans are completely behind Trump no matter what he does.
