Well, they both showed up. I was wrong on that one! So far, the first segment just ended, and this is a bit of a disaster all around. Tough to watch.
Okay, it's over. I don't even know what I just watched, that was rough. Hopefully the VP one next week will be better, but I'm not optimistic about the upcoming Biden/Trump slots
4 years ago, everything Hillary Clinton said about Trump turned out to be absolutely true. Putin puppet, paid zero in taxes, lied about his "fortune", Trump has proven her 100% correct. Who gets fooled again? Raise your hand.
Insult-fest 2020..... I thought Biden overtly played to moderates and separated himself from the far left..... Trump was Trump. Braggadocios, rude and lacked any semblance of decorum..... But I was also left feeling that Biden may not have the fortitude to go head to head with a bully. And that’s of concern on a worldwide stage....... I know the moderator was a Fox News guy. Do you guys feel he did all he could to keep Trump at bay so Biden could say what he had to say?
A.) There needs to be an adult in the room. B.) We need mic kills so they can't talk over each other. "Mr Candidate A, your mic will be on for the next 2 minutes...."
Yes, it was a bad night for Trump. He was too aggressive. He should Have let Biden babble, taken notes and put him down in his rebuttal. Given the opportunity, Biden would have misspoken. For example, Biden made points when he asked Trump to call off the right wing militias. Trump should asked Biden to tell Black Lives Matter and Antifa to cool it. They were a million times more responsible for the violence than any right wingers. Yet he didn’t. Biden also mouthed the left wing claim that Antifa does not exist. He said that it is only “a concept.” I guess “a concept” can break windows, spray paint buildings, beat people up and start fires.
Agreed. Trump knows how to do a rally, but fall way short on debate. He definitely missed the two opportunities you pointed out. He's not there to score gotcha points, he's there to convince the under informed Biden supporters to come to his side. The opposition has been very effective in presenting the faults narratives about Charlottesville and "right wing" agitators showing up and rioting at BLM events. This needs to change.
not at all according to the FBI https://www.csis.org/analysis/escalating-terrorism-problem-united-states ATTACKS AND PLOTS Between 1994 and 2020, there were 893 terrorist attacks and plots in the United States. Overall, right-wing terrorists perpetrated the majority—57 percent—of all attacks and plots during this period, compared to 25 percent committed by left-wing terrorists, 15 percent by religious terrorists, 3 percent by ethnonationalists, and 0.7 percent by terrorists with other motives.
@FryDaddyJr, We are not talking about the last 26 years; we are talking about the last five months. Stay on the subject.
Is this the same FBI that lied to the FISA Court and congress, who's agent took out professional liability insurance for fear of the Flynn Report coming back at them. The same group who's lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, just plead guilty to the above? Why not just use Southern Poverty Law Center's list. There are racist and klansmen everywhere.
I think Trump did exactly what a lot of people thought he would do. He treated the debate like Twitter, saying what he wanted when he wanted. FD is right that he didn't do himself any favors. He should have done what JH said, taken notes while Biden spoke and then had his say. Biden did not do all that well either. What I saw was a weak, frail old man who, at times, struggled to spit out his memorized points. MD is correct in saying that there are world leaders who are licking their chops in anticipation of taking Biden to the mat.
As long as Biden didn't falter he didn't lose. He retains his lead. As far as frail Trump looked like a blob who can't construct a sentence, and who couldn't even condemn the proud boys.
There is stretching the truth and there is bending the truth to make your point and then there are straight up bald faced lies. Trump doesn't know the difference.
Dealing with foreign leaders isn't a boxing match, it's called diplomacy. Being a bully only makes diplomacy less successful as Trump has proved over the last 4 years. You can't bully foreign leaders on the world stage. What you need when dealing with any adversary in a geopolitical dispute is respect. Trump isn't respected by any foreign leader I can thing of. They laugh at him and appeal to his enormous vanity and walk away with his lunch. I doubt that they can do this with Biden. Biden is a humble man that knows what he brings to the table. Biden handled a bully the best that anyone can handle a bully without punching him in the face. I kind of wish that he had.
The Trump campaign will never agree to this. As much as it is needed, it has to be agreed to by both campaigns. I have no doubt that the Biden campaign would be only too happy to debate under such a rule but the Trump campaign would fold like a deck of card if it came to instituting this restriction of Trump.
